Xero just won all of Tigerboi’s ownage awards for the next ten years.
LOL, the boobies thing is gold. Xero, I’m sorry, I may have totally missed the point I was trying to make. I don’t consider myself one of the hardcore people who just play games for years and study that crap and so forth. In fact, I am very much into games that are fun. I mostly play RPGs, actions titles, and whatnot. The point I was trying to make is that I don’t think the argument that DOA4 will lure gamers to 2D fighters will work, because of the issues I describe, where to even be mediocre at SF you need years and years of hard work to get to that point. So that was my point, not that DOA should be put down, but that simply people these days don’t really want or care to do this with a game, they would rather have something accessible and fun from the get go and then go on with their lives (this is the mainstream gamer I am talking about). The SF community will always be small compared to this. I just don’t see it growing because DOA is getting a lot of good press.
So yeah I totally see your point and I think I failed to make mine clear. I just don’t want people sitting there thinking that DOA will in anyway reinvigorate the 2D fighting community online, because SF is the exact polar opposite of DOA in every way shape and form. Even hardcore SF players have commented on how innaccessible SF is at the beginning – I’m not saying this is a good thing, but the average person who sits down and plays DOA is most likely not going to be interested in sitting in training mode in some old 2D game to try and learn how to do a 2 or 3 hit combo properly.
Sorry for the confusion.
ECC was just ‘officially’ announced last weekend, and the EVO hype isn’t in season yet.
Just like in NFL, during the playoffs, the hype was about the playoffs and getting to the superbowl, after the super bowl there is a bunch of boring coverage noone cares about for 6 months, then the season starts again. I am hoping that once things get into gear (starting next week actually with the SBO quals), the SF specific coverage will begin.
The other thing people are forgetting is that competition is competition, if there are ppl playing DOA that is good for SF, bottom line. As i’ve said in another thread, being a top player is transferrable, if someone who likes SF goes and wins all the DOA tournaments, it will probably do them a lot better than playing 3s against 1-2 people in the corner.
DOA, SF, MK, GG, etc… are all still fighting games, and while personally we may fight over one or the other, it doesn’t do the FGC any good to exclude people. Especially people that are playing a game that is 1) good graphically, 2) playable online, 3) Domestically released, and 4) has some support from the company, and 5) the current community loses nothing from covering DOA.
The rest of SRK is more off topic than the blog is anyway, most people here are more into anime stuff and RPGs and 1 player games than SF anyway.
Hey, I write about what I’m playing and what’s interesting to me at the time. When something interesting happens in Capcom-land, I’ll probably write about that too. Don’t worry, mommy still loves you.
Well, I guess that pretty much sticks a fork in it.
I guess a stupid thread deserves stupid responses. I think 3 people actually responded to the thread. Then there are morons like SOARWING who keeps going off topic bashing DOA. I think he even brings up someone’s join date for credibility. Wow.
Inkblot finally comes in summed everything up in two sentences. Funny thing is, it was also summed in the first response to this thread.
screw doa
rumble roses for the win
Not that I object to the blog or anything, but just somethings I’d like to point out in this post.
DR being a bunch of smoke and rumours right now? Where have you been? There are already arcades that have it already, mainly imported, and the fact that Namco is going to be releasing the domestic version soon.
And US releases of AW games? Umm, they’ve been out since like December/early January at the earliest, KOFXI, HNK/FOTNS (and sadly NBC) are already in the arcades (that are still around and give a damn).
I love how in every thread about DOA you see a bunch of people bitch about how much the game sucks or is a scrubfest. These people need too look at threads like the one for Texas showdown where some well known SF players are working to set up a DOA4 tourney. Evidently the game isn’t below them. I think most of the elitism on this board and in threads like these is from people who a) don’t know what they are talking about, and b) have no business having an elite attitude either.
This thread is like a battle of stupidity between tigerboi and randomloser. I think tigerboi has an unfair advantage in stupidity though. :bluu:
Yeah, I took your frama data comment, but my post wasn’t directed at you specifically :wgrin:. But you’re right, DOA won’t affect SF in any way. The only thing that can reinvigorate SF is Capcom. But, they don’t seem interested
Dammit, I can’t take a single day off, huh?
