Blocked High Divekick = Free SPD?

I’ve heard yes and no. Can anyone give me a clear answer?

Anytime I divekick high and get blocked by Gief or Hawk I eat a command grab. Tried seemingly everything under the sun to not have this happen.

From the testing I’ve done it’s character specific. Against T-Hawk if you hit on the top of his head it’s free spd/ultra. On Gief no matter how high you divekick him he’s not tall enough to get a guaranteed SPD. He can ultra you but it has to be pretty much frame perfect. The danger is the 50/50 of Lariat and SPD.

But the real key is to not divekick either of these characters ever unless you know 100% it’s going to hit AND combo.
