It’s not trolling if you have common sense. Don’t get me wrong, Kubo tends to be a fucking moron, but in this particular instance it actually worked because Yama has fought Juha Bach once before. Yama just assumed he was who he was. Yeah, the reiatsu should’ve been a give away, but Yama wasn’t going to take the chance and he had no reason to believe there was another copier on the team. Soul Society was getting wrecked, he knows that Juha’s the boss and the last time they fought he was strong enough for Bankai, he needed to end things quickly so he took the risk of going Bankai and going all out immediately. The risk happened to fail but that’s war in a nutshell, he took the quickest and most dangerous chance to end it and it didn’t work out.
I sometimes wonder if people take time to think a little why the thing happen on the story, or only bitch because the stuff that happens is not like they would have liked to.
Like all the people who whine because byakuya and the other went for the bankai instead of using kido, is like they have not understand that
A) Kido is useless against quincies, because the nature of their powers
B) Those quincies are powerful enough that trying to fight them without using the bankai they would lose
Also notice that those who lose it, are the most recent captains, those who don’t have enough experience with their zanpakutos compared to the older ones, so it kinda make sense that they would rely more on the power of their bankai compared to shunsui for example, that more than probable has more experience with the powers of his zanpakuto on shikai and bankai as well.
Also, they were under the assumption that the quincies sealed the bankais, not that they stoled it.
Perhaps the only real idiot ball here is Byakuya not allowing that Renji was the one to sacrifice himself, but this also can be explained as byakuya being byakuya, considering how he is all about honor, maybe he thinks that is not honorable to sacrifice his men, is not the 1st time that he puts honor before reason anyway.
As for Soi Fong not using Shunko, is because the same reason why they cant use kido, the quincies nullify anything made by spirit particles.
Juha could have been hiding his reiatsu. CC didn’t want to risk a it’s over 9000 moment so better to kill your opponent quickly.
Do the quincies have strong reiatsu?
I know that their power depends on their ability of extracting the spirit particles of their surroundings, and that the more they can extract and the more rich on SP is the environment the stronger they are. But outside that?
edit, also from this arc it seems also that the relics used are a factor.
My gripe isn’t that they chose to use Bankai, but that THEY ALL CHOSE TO USE BANKAI. What the heck. Stupid that they all have the same dumb idea. Better to be a tad more coordinated and just have 1 or 2 captains use bankai while the other captains watch. Plus, if they know their bankai is going to get jacked, and they know that they need bankai to defeat them, how is teaming up with Shinigami who don’t have Bankai going to do? It makes more sense to team up with a person who has a Bankai so that when one gets stolen, the other one can still be used. Doesn’t that make a tad more sense?
Byakuya makes the most sense - his VC has a bankai. But the other Captains should have paired up. “We need bankai! They steal bankai! So I’m going to use my bankai so my Vice Captain who doesn’t have Bankai can…wait a second…” By the way, where are the captains who have a mask? Can they still use those hollow powers, or are they forgotten forever?

i’m reading bleach for lulz and aizen, other than that it’s complete and utter shit, both in storytelling and artwork.
You are forgetting that this whole mess is because the quincies made “a surprise attack” , the captains are always with their vice captains, they are fighting without any kind of coordination because there wasn’t time to do any kind of coordination, their HQ was destroyed, their communication staff annihilated, they weren’t prepared for this attack in any way, and more importantly they didn’t expect it so soon (2 or 3 days at most after the 1st attack)
And as i said in the previous post, they only knew that if they want to fight back, using their bankais was their only option, they didn’t know that the quincies could stole them easily when they summoned them.
That is a bonus for the quincy group. Outside of repelling attacks by superior spiritual pressure, the shinigami otherwise just eat damage. This reishi manipulation seems vastly superior to the spiritual pressure (“you can’t cut me if your spiritual pressure isn’t high enough”) type of defense.
A quincy of Royd’s calibur and above (real Bach) could probably walk through the shikai flames without turning into ash. No need to cancel it - just tank it.
They can’t just power through shit though, least of all the old man’s fire steez, hence why they’re stealing the Bankais. Whatever they use to get Defense Up prevents them from attacking. The old man told the fake JB that his defense tech flat-out wasn’t going to work, which is probably how JB got bodied in the first place.
The fire prison was just to keep Aizen from running around merking everyone in Fake Town at the start of the match. Tousen and Gin stood in there causally saying that it was hot. Saying the Quincy bro could’ve cancelled the prison or walked through it is a moot point since Aizen cancelled it out with SuperChunky. The fact that the JB clone took a good amount of abuse is also a moot point since JB beat the old man the same way Aizen did—cancelling out his Bankai. The difference is that Aizen didn’t have to be switched into some sort of card monster Defense Mode where he couldn’t attack. Aizen simply created some disposable tools to simulate the Quincy anti-shinigami tech without any of the drawbacks. Advantage (as always) Aizen.
We don’t really know how strong the Sternritter are. I mean, just because they stole the bankai doesn’t mean they ‘had’ to… If I were doing a surprise attack, even if I knew I was overwhelmingly strong, I’d still love to be able to spike the enemies’ guns before they’re turned against me.
The Quincy defense has drawbacks but the strong ones seem able to work around the issue. Since Buckbeard survived his fight with Yama in that epic Quincy-Shinigami war in the past, strong Quincy must be able to shift back and forth rather quickly. Because if the switches were slow, they’d be weak and just sit in their defensive shells like turtles all day.
