Smh…what happened was he wanted to take a break but I guess the editors weren’t having that shit so he decided to use his sick days/PTO. Its so obvious. People do get sick, you guys. As possible it is that he’s just using this an excuse to give himself a break, it is a plausible excuse and he at least gave a date for when your favorite minimalist manga will be back instead of just saying “fuck you guys, I’m sick. Indefinite hiatus.” So, while frustrating, you can at least be thankful for that.
That said, whether or not he’s actually sick, the timing of this is fucking hilarious, especially since people foolishly got themselves hyped up for Kenpachi when Kubo’s probably just going to use at most half of the next chapter on him before or after cutting away from him to someone else anyway.

If the Yu Yu Hakusho series crossed over into Bleach… would Hiei or Kurama be relevant? Unless their some variants of hollows, demons in Bleach are sort of an unknown.

Yeah, Kurama is not someone you fuck around with. He’d be relevant for the same reasons that Mayuri is relevant: intellect level and, to a much less extent than Mayuri, prep-time.
I’d actually argue Kurama is more directly dangerous than Mayuri, just because almost all of his attacks (as human Kurama) are so damn subtle. While Mayuri is ridiculous about prep-time, the only “subtle” thing he’s done is drug Szayel into subjugation…accidentally…through the aid of Nemu’s vagina.
Hiei is a lot more debatable.
And he’s a LOT more torturous when it comes to his opponents than Mayuri is and that’s saying something. At least Szayel got to die. The Elder Toguro is still fucked up (though that’s because he’s immortal). He will make a flower bloom inside you and just a bunch of different crap. And his weapons are extremely versatile. For most of the shit Mayuri has, his Zanpaktou is still pretty much his only actual weapon, unless you want to go through Nemu’s body.
And like it was said, Kurama is a LOT more subtle with his shit, even in decorum. Mayuri is pretty blunt in his desires and such. Kurama could have a normal smile on and could have a Rose Whip hanging over your head waiting to decapitate you.
No Shonen hero scares me more than Kurama.

…Anyway, I actually can’t agree that Kurama’s more torturous than Mayuri. Kurama only really “tortured” Elder Toguro, but that’s because he was still utterly pissed off about having to kill Gamemaster and because Elder Toguro’s immortality didn’t really permit any other obvious, immediate solution anyway. (It’s “funny”. I almost always think “infinite” punishments horribly unjust, but given what a complete monster and how dangerous Elder Toguro was [and how he always seemed to be like that], I actually felt comfortable with him getting stuck in an infinite loss Lotus Eater.)
The only other guy he got close to torturing was the guy who threatened his mother and even then that was more just paralyzing him before explaining to him why he lost and was going to die.
Everyone else Kurama basically murdered straight-out except for Karasu, but that was more a “desperation” factor that made it a non-instant death. Even with Karasu and Elder Toguro & whoever the guy on Chuu’s team was, Kurama didn’t seem to derive any pleasure from torturing people or even really from gloating.
Mayuri, on the other hand, is a lot more straightforward, but seems to greatly enjoy others’ sufferings in addition to having at least a couple of methods of paralyzing you, even if one of them is direct and kinda obvious. I mean, hell, he basically did some Mengele shit to Quincy for the hell of it whereas Kurama, even Yoko Kurama, actually has morals (however lax at times).
That said, yeah, Kurama is a lot scarier on a subtle level, particularly personality-wise. He’ll kill you while acting nonchalant and talking about the weather, especially if he thinks it’s the best way to go about it. Mayuri’s definitely scarier though, just in terms of potential cruelty for cruelty’s sake. It just seems like you have to go out your way to piss off Kurama for him to get anywhere near as cruel as Mayuri, like the level of “I killed your mother and then raped her corpse”.
Shrug. He’d still body most of Bleach’s characters despite being physically weaker just because he’s smart enough not to explain his powers right away.
Actually damned, I only meant to get three or four.

Ha. I thought the chapter drean posted was an elaborate fake until it switched to Ichigo mid-way through, especially when Kenpachi put down three bodies. I was like “hunh, this person is quite good at mimicking Kubo’s style, even down to the stupid naming scheme of some characters.”
