The Old Man would’ve clearly curb-stomped anyone dumb enough to try fighting him straight up. All the non-dumb bad guys knew that. Aizen nullified his flames with the slobbering mentally handicapped Hollow kid, and JB stole it outright.
Speaking of broken shit in this comic: Remember the eye ball Espada? He had a silly ability too. Just looking at you granted him full control over whatever body part he looked at. If it was your head he gained full control over your body. I mean, seriously? At least the bookmark guy has to actually cut you. Eye ball guy lost to pure plot armor.
Ahhh the black espada…forgot about him. Yea, no way byakuya shoulda won that fight lol. If iirc he was also the fastest espada. Wtf? That dude was broken as fuck…then he transformed…started doing his villian speech and took the L some how.
Her ability at its core has the ability to reject reality.
Thus if Orihime actually had the disposition for it, she could essentially bend reality to her will. No enemy could put up with that, and it’s also why her Healing is so supreme. She’s not actually healing, just rejecting the fact that the injury ever happened in the first place.
Yeah, doesn’t she potentially have a one hit KO against anyone with the little ninja dude, but the catch is that she has to have serious resolve/killing intent behind it? Orihime gets visited by Aunt Flo and bodies Juha Bach with it—calling it.
Everybody has offensively broken powers, I’m thinking to tier it you have to look at more than “if this move lands.” Take Gin. Yes his bankai is really good and he knows how to use it well (not telling anybody about the poison is good thinking). But given people’s speed and his potential to land it in a fair (non-sniper) fight, it’s not that great. Plus I wouldn’t be surprised if the poison wasn’t 100% effective (like Soi-Fon).
Speaking of Soi-Feng, her sword has seriously got to be one of the worst. Her shikai seemed great - only 2 drawbacks were she needed to hit same spot twice and it has to be close range, with close range not being so bad since she’s a hakuda master/assassin/etc. Then Aizen comes and shows with enough reitsu the opponent can remove the crest so it’s NOT a guaranteed kill. The 1 trick it has will never work then. WTF. Then here’s her bankai - a big ass missile. The logical step up would be a one hit kill. A buff/nerf is that it’s a projectile, giving it range, but’s more noticeable. Trade off, but since it’s a 1 hit kill I’d say it’s all good. Too bad SHIT DOESN’T DIE IN 1 HIT. So not only can she miss, but it won’t kill. Plus, she can’t even quickly reload.
I’d be seriously fine with all of this if shunko was amazing. Too bad she hasn’t killed anybody with it yet…
Edit: I got so side track with Soi-Feng I forgot to make my main point.
Almost every captain has great offensive capabilities. My idea to tier them would be to look at their effectiveness even without a clean/direct hit. Yamamoto - he just has to be around you to kill you. He could send zombies after you until you tire out. He has incineration armor. Byakuya - while not impossible, good luck getting a clean hit with countless tiny shards of metal floating around. I hope he can control tiny amounts so he can slip that into you as you breathe and tear out your lungs. You get the idea.
It’s probably easier to tier the worst bankais rather than the best ones. Top vote: Komamura. His is a giant target that could kill him. Then Soi-Feng for obvious reasons.
