I assume there will be an upcoming explanation on what that first sternritter knew that no one else seems to. That guy seem completely shocked to hear how weak Uryuu was but all of these people seem to be like “who the hell is this guy?”
Top brass from position not power, are more than likely aware of his potential. Like I said a month or so ago when we found out about Masaki - it’s likely that not only was Ishida ‘pre-nerfed’ by using ‘old’ Quincy Tech, but he also didn’t have his power because of Juha’s ‘absorption’. Another keynote - all these Quincy are prolly already dead. Based on the ‘time limit’ Bach is limited to, and comments by Bach about the only living Quincy.
I can’t lie. I won’t argue ‘best arc’ - but I disagree whole heartedly about the quality. The pace became ass, but it became one of those ‘better when digested in chunks’ series…something that screamed to me when I just yesterday re-read the whole ‘post full bringer’ arc.
A better phrasing would say…Bleach became an entirely different series for the most part once they hit the SS. And honestly I enjoyed the series better before that point. But what it became has its own merit.
…which actually bites him in the ass as time goes by. His plots bog down immensely trying to find interesting things for the population explosion that is the supporting cast to be doing.
Compounded by the fact he’s been hugely reluctant to kill off even minor good guys. Count them. His later story arcs drown in setting up and executing one on one fights for mid level good guys to win.
At least they look fantastic.
And even with all those fights tons of supporting cast get left by the wayside. Especially if they can’t realistically fight at that level.
Hell, I’m still waiting for him to flesh out the stories of Ichigo’s highschool classmates. Remember karate girl? Anyone remember her name? What about the girl who is very enthusiastic about other girls chests?
And what’s up with the kid who was so cool, calm, and collected that he tried to blow up Aizen with a propane tank? Officially making him the person with the 3rd most success fighting Aizen I might add.
I remember them all, just no point in even bothering with them because only Ichigo, some captains, and who ever the main bads are are relevant. Everyone else is just there.
As I grew older I sort of consider DBZ like a parody of Shoenen Anime. And when you look at it like that it actually does it extremely well. Plus the whole argument about the fights meaning more when not about powerups and more about actual martial arts in DB falls short to me honestly.
I guess I could think of it like the FMA animes. Like, considering the Initial Arc the start, but have the current Bleach roll off into what it’s doing now but have like a different series play out as if Rukia didn’t get jacked back to the SS. Kind of a bad comparison but essentially, I don’t mind Bleach how it is but I would’ve liked to see how the series would’ve played out if the SS didn’t get so involved.
The “problem” is that Bleach turned into a decompressed manga, as Unreallystic said, the manga doesn’t feel bad when reading it by chunks, otherwise, if you don’t like decompressed action reading it weekly could be tedious at times
Neliel - Renji described Neliel as having the same amount of reiatsu level as Ichigo at the time when she transformed to adult. Neliel also has extreme potential and versatility as possibly the best remaining Hollow. She can heal others with her saliva, she can do the same function as Ukitake’s Shikai with her Double Cero skill and she doesn’t need a sword for this, she does have decent Hierro as shown against Noittra deflecting his weapon barefooted, she has great Sonido skills a la Byakuya’s Shunpo, she is excellent with the sword and more impressive is her adaptability to overwhelm a much stronger Noittra after years of inactivity. All this plus her Resurrection which until further notice, Quincies can’t steal and Shinigamis must respect. All she needs is for Inoue or somebody to fix that crack that makes her spill her reiatsu and she would be formidable. Even more with some additional training. The fact that Neliel was equal on reiatsu with Ichigo at the time after all that inactivity shows her huge potential on reiatsu, which is the common ground with the 3 War Potentials already.
Haschwalt - He did what not even Gin could do in his fight with Ichigo in FKT. Gin defeated Ichigo in FKT but he couldn’t break his sword/Bankai. Haschwalt did what not even Monster Aizen could do…and with no effort to booth. Also, he is second in command of the Quincy Warriors and his teammates recognize him as the next emperor which suggests they do recognize his prowess. Is early but Haschwalt does have some strong merits in his short showing thus far. Breaking Ichigo’s Bankai suggests that Haschwalt is > Gin and possibly = or a little < than Aizen.
Yoruichi = Yoruichi has been shown to fight against Aizen back in FKT and she does have the Goddess of Flash to her nick. She has done all her damage strictly with Hakuda. She hasn’t been seen using her sword, not even Shikai and this was the former assassination Captain, one of the noble family heirs and pretty old as a captain a la Shinji and even Hikifune. The fact that she went against Aizen with just her Hakuda and Shunko was very impressive. With her Shikai, Bankai and Shunko at max, she should be extremely powerful.
And that’s it. Inoue is always a wildcard but at this stage I don’t see it and Chad IMO is a lost cause. Sajin has more probabilities than Chad if he beats Clifford and his new tech is super broken.
IMO, Ichigo, Kenpachi, Aizen, Ryuuken and Neliel are my 5 War Potentials.
I think that even when Haschwalt broke Ichigo’s bankai, we need to remember that it was when he started to enter a new phase of disarray due his quincy powers manifesting throwing away the balance on his power.
