I don’t think it’s mentioned the spirits of the Zanpakutous in the manga, so that can’t be an actual excuse.
IMO, it’s because Hisagi isn’t a captain and he is also ashamed of his own Shikai so it’s probably not well known. Or it’s because they’re probably talking about dual SWORDS rather than just dual weapons.
From the wording, iirc it implies that is about the spirits
Yamamoto says they’re the only people with Dual Zanpakuto’s in the history of Soul Society. So he’s probably talking about Spirits in the blade.
Its says they have two zanpakutos, which in this case should mean spirits since Ukitake only has one normal sword. Which is also the reason I thought he had two separate swords.
if it’s worth anything, use this as well in figuring out the dual zanpaktou thing…
During the muramasa arc, when the zanpaktous started walking around without being locked in the blades, Only Ukitake and shunsui’s manifestations had two separate bodies instead of just one. Even Hisagi’s weapon had only the one manifestation, leading me to believe that it is only one zanpaktou. Hope that helps…

I know this and I still don’t like doing it. I would never doing it while speaking Japanese, but it just feels weird on a Japanese word in an English sentence. Every time I write something about multiple zanpakuto I have to take a moment and fight of the urge to put an “s” on their anyway. It’s like how I am never going to pronounce Saiyan correctly while speaking english.

Wow i’m so out of the loop on bleach. I stopped watching after Aizen lost because…come the f%^k on…this show will NEVER have a better villain than Aizen.

Also finally getting this off my chest, i dunno about you guys, but i NEVER liked Zaraki Kenpachi. He always
seemed like this show’s seriously ham-fisted, shameless attempt at having their own wolverine. Building him up to be the king of all badasses or something.

How is that? It makes perfect sense considering he’s been fighting with two opposing forces inside himself the entire time. He’s finally come to terms with it and is harnessing the powers of both entities now, hence the dual Zanpakuto.
If you’re going to hate on stuff like this then keep it consistent and hate on Kenpachi for using two hands instead of one as a power up against Nnoitra.
So yea, I talked to a friend and we should have some announcement regarding Bleach anime by end of the year.
A lot of people got sick of Bleach but I think if they keep it non-filler and don’t keep the pacing slow it’s a good anime and now that since the manga is so far ahead there is no need to worry about catching up to the manga.
Duel wielding swords is awesome.
