Also, i am pretty sure that Kubo would explain why Ken has a zanpakuto and on shikai form a imay add when he was a kid and without being a shinigami by that time, and no, i am not buying that it is not his zanpakuto
I think people have for gotten how soul society works.
Living world swords don’t work on shinigami, but everything in soul society is composed of soul particles which mean you can kill a shinigami with a random broken bottle in soul society. The only difference between a regular sword and a zanpakuto in soul society is the special abilities; however if you never use any of the special abilities then there is no difference.
Hes overflowing with so much reiatsu that just handing him a fresh blank sword might allow him to go bankai.

Either way, he wasn’t a shinigami so, it couldn’t originally have belonged to him.
So, assuming that Ken’s sword isn’t his, what happens after he levels up? Will he be given a new one? It wouldn’t make sense for him to keep using a sword that he can’t use to its full potential.

After kens sword lvls up it just gets more edges and cuts you 3X deeper. Literally his swords cuts your soul not flesh leaving you a souless being.

I just had a disturbing thought considering the revelations about capt. mom. How many times do you think she sat around hearing people bitch and thought,“I wanna just cut this bitch’s head off gangnam style right now. ain’t nobody here that can do SHIT if I do, so why should I keep listening to this noise?” The former Kenpachi. They literally JUST explained Zanpaktous before switching to Zaraki training…its like precursory information.
Zaraki wasn’t given a…that ‘thing’ with mouth-eye-balls. Now based on what we were just told about the process, you are given one, and live with it. Eventually you imprint your DNA on it. To me, it looks as though that’s someone else’s sword…and Zaraki has forced his DNA onto it. It didn’t stick and thats where IMO his vice captain came from.

At what point did Kenpachi become 11th? Was Unohana captain of the division when the vaizard’s got booted?
I don’t get how young kenpachi beat her it’s giving too much credit to him .So we got a kid running around with sp equal to yamas n shit
Unohana was the 4th division captain by that time (we can presume that since the divisions were created she has been the captain of the 4th division), and kenpachi became the 11 division some time after that, because the previous kenpachi is mentioned during the Turn Back the Pendulum arc
Even if Kenpachi took somebody else’s sword, he could still use that ability. Tousen did it.
Makes you wonder - how did Ichigo get his sword then? Nobody gave it to him.

If it were somebody else, maybe. Kenpachi’s been limiting himself almost from the start, so the chance that any of his energy would’ve imprinted into his sword or any other sword is a rather low possibility.
It was a weird one, but the explaination involves Urahara’s training with him prior to the rescue Rukia arc. He got his sword, the first Zangetsu, during that. He also learned how to fire his favorite move, getsuga tenshou, during that same training period. Apparently, the power he was using up until he got owned by byakuya was given him by Rukia. :looney: There ya have it.
