Good chapter. I liked how bearded leader corrected his punkass subordinate by choppin’ his arm off while looking like he doesn’t give a fuck. Showed niggas whose in charge, yeah.
I just not gonna get my hopes up until they take out some that has been relevant to story. Not some jobber I had to look up on Wikipedia to remember.
I especially like the tag at the end that said “The Empire’s King”. Is this guy supposed to be an analog to the soul king?
Also, these guys can’t possibly be ‘just’ Quincies. They don’t have zanpaktou, and the zanpaktou is what enables bankai.

hm Empire King… I wonder if it’s mistranslation or he is rival of the SS King. At first I thought that Aizen created something like SS in Hueco Mundo using hogyoku and reiatsu from Captains (one of the fellows does look like Aizen after all, and Empire King is like Kenpachi’s bro.
My guess:
Soul King and his merry men possess the powers of Shinigami, Quincies, and Hollows. That would explain that hollow masked guy with the quincy bow as well as them having bankai. Perhaps he split these powers into 3 different societies to create a balance and the reason they are waging war is because the Shinigami damn near wiped out the other 2. Only his guards remain having all 3 powers.
Aizen could possibly be the King’s son which would explain the likeliness to his “brothers” (quincy/hollow guy and arm chopped-off guy). For whatever reason, Aizen was banished from his kingdom and needed to reach a higher dimension in order to be able to cross over like quincy/hollow guy did using that shadow, which he said is only for “chosen ones”. Aizen will have to be freed at some point because only him and Ichigo have reached the level of chosen ones.
I’m probably way off, but I think this would tie everything together nicely. Wishful thinking.
You wanna know what I find the funniest?
If Karakura Town is the current location in the world with the greatest reiatsu concentration, why do they have it guarded by the literally weakest shinigami available?

Oh hey, look, the new head bad guy is Zangetsu’s brother. He’s rebellious to how SS had become so rigid. He had his boy Aizen infiltrate and try to change all that but he failed and now Z-bro needs to step in personally.
Which makes Zangetsu the OG, he’s the old school brother [the soul king]. He retired himself from SS until Ichigo came and woke his ass up so now they are forever BFFs and Zangetsu has to put his rebellious old brother in his place for being such a shit disturber. Turns out Ichigo and Zangetsu had been BFFs long time before SS was created just like Aizen and Z-bro were BFFs too. Only difference being Z didn’t care much about how SS was run but Z-bro doesn’t like the sticklers running SS. He just wants to chill and relax, everyone being equal. And so the huge battle for control of SS.
