Bleach Thread 5.0 - MANGA IS FINISHED! Announcement is a Bleach live action movie lmao

HOLY SHIT :o

I’m surprised Hitsuguya isn’t also an exception. It’s not too far fetched to think he could reform his sword using ice.

No…Aizen didn’t attack Ichigo’s bankai, he locked his sword in place with his index finger and cut him with his zanpakutou. Same thing vs Renji - he’s faster, so the cut isn’t seen.

bump Uryu, this is SRK, I want them to **Show **RyūKen do something… He pretty much said his son was a novice compared to him. The badguy Quincy crew said Ishida is a powerful Quincy, perhaps they meant the father and not the jobber.

Call me when Chad Sado, you know the unique character; both in character and powers, is actually talked about.

You will die waiting :coffee:

Sado had his 3 moments to shine (but failed to climb the shonen poles) and a good flashback :coffee: he’s unofficially dead to the series… or Krillin’d.

At least Krillin was relevant to the plot sometimes, like his dead triggering the SSJ transformation of Goku, plus he got the 18 at the end.

edit

What flashback?

how they became friends… o_O and the origin of his granpa’s coin… :coffee: if i find it in the early shows i’ll link it here.

Sado can always hook up with that hollow shark girl… his granpa would be proud.

Actually Aizen intentionally didn’t attack his bankai, he used his finger against ichigo and his sword against Renji, hes actively trying to see ichigo get stronger.
Also Ichigo didn’t receive any damage, because the only Komamura and his bankai take each other’s damage its a pro/con of that bankai not something that will happen once you bond enough with your bankai.

It’s funny because Ichigo’s outfit is part of his bankai too. That should play a role in something, but I have a feeling it’ll be ignored.

It has been stated that it works like a gauge to measure how much reiatsu Ichigo has, so if the clothes are complete, he is at full power, so less clothes = the less power.

So…he gets pwned by the big bads consistently but ends up with the hottest chick on the show?

I’m with Saitsu on this one. The best we can hope for is that he does get a chance to shine. Maybe get a shot or two in on the boss, but that’s pretty much as good as it’ll get before he gets stomped into a mass of dirt sauce. Mostly, Orihime gets away without always getting stomped, but that’s because females usually get kidnapped. Don’t hate the ink. it only writes what you see.

-Starhammer-

He’s had multiple chances. Soul Society, worked by Shunsui. Hueco Mundo, gets new powers, owned by an Espada within 5 seconds. Fullbring Arc, they make him an honorary member of Xcution…where he does absolutely nothing.

And what’s so unique about his powers? He gets one Hollow Arm that fires lasers (and now has a shield). His other Hollow Arm just punches things. He’s damn near Kazuma from S-Cry-Ed, only with more jobbing.

What’s unique is that we have no god damn clue where the hell he gets his powers from or even the extent or limit to his powers.

The problem with Bleach is actually the high point of Naruto: Character Development. Bleach has no problem shitting out 50 new characters, but we only have a solid foundation on 2 of those 50.

FFS, it’s been months and we still have no clue on kenpachi’s little daughter/friend’s powers.

Well Ishida was easily the Best character in Japanese Bleach DS. Soi Fon wasn’t bad in Jap/American version either. so…yea. Hipstergaya was easily top 3 in Bleach DS2.

Buckethead well…no.

Yeah, I remember that conversation. Just seems odd that hurting Komamura’s bankai (not his sword, but parts of the body) = hurting the sword itself as well as Komamura. Meanwhile, Ichigo’s clothes is part of his bankai, but cutting through his shirt doesn’t affect him at all. IMO, it should be more than just a reitsu indicator.

There’s always exceptions to every rule.

“Nobody seals their zanpakutou as two blades” - Kyoraku
"Bankai training usually takes ages" - Urahara, Ichigo
"11th Division doesn’t have kidou zanpakutou" - Yumichika
"Hurting the Bankai doesn’t hurt the user" - Komamura

Chad is a Fullbringer. His fullbring is his own skin.

I still believe Yachiru IS Kenpachi’s Zanpakutou spirit.

(As much as people speculate about Yachiru being Kenpachi’s Zanpakutou, I’m surprised no one’s taken it to its “logical” conclusion given how vague Kubo has been about “normal” (read: people who aren’t Ichigo) Zanpakutou relationships: If Yachiru is Kenpachi’s Zanpakutou, then doesn’t that mean, deep down, he wants to be a little girl? [/troll])

Haha, so I come back and everyone’s crapping on Soi Fon despite her reaction and personality, however bitchier than usual, being rather understandable this chapter (as opposed to last chapter where Komamura rightly told her to shut the fuck up), which basically just cemented that at least two-fifths of the Royal Guard are assholes. Heh.

I can’t say I’m surprised they are, though Kubawara Presley managed to come off as even more of an asshole ironically because his primary target was Unohana, who’ve never really seen do anything one way or the other; he did have something of a point about Soi Fon’s “question”, but still. I’m similarly not surprised that the black guy Royal Guard said nothing, that Hikifune was the fat chick and the attractive female Royal Guard has an “evil-than-thou” relationship with Mayuri. Apparently Yamamoto made the qualifications for the Science Division “you must be, at the very least, an even more morally ambiguous asshole than normal”.

Otherwise, nothing really happened this chapter at all aside from it being the prelude to Ichigo getting yet another–hurray–power-up already. How exciting.

That said, I didn’t completely dislike or feel apathetic to it, if only because of aforementioned assholish banter that is yet more evidence on the veritable mountain that Bleach’s universe is, at best, a (light) Crapsack one.

What? Her Bankai landed. It landed the second time she used it on Barragan due to Hachigen’s help. Unless by “landed” you mean “killed the opponent”, in which case you’re being unfair (even if she’s being bitchier than usual) since you can literally count the number of Bankai that have successfully killed people on one hand: Byakuya’s, Komamura’s, Ikkaku’s, Renji’s and Yamamoto’s. And of those, Yamamoto killed a clone and everyone but Byakuya killed grunts. Additionally, that’s not even taking into account that she hates using that thing and that Barragan was so utterly broken that only thing killed him in the end was himself, even then was still kind of bullshit. (Arguably, either Yamamoto or Chojiro or maybe even Hipstergaya could have killed him given the elemental natures of their Bankai…though Chojiro’s didn’t exist back then and Hipstergaya was busy not killing Harribel.)

Yeah.

You could maybe extend it to a second hand if you count Mayuri’s Bankai eating Szayel as a “kill”…despite the fact that Szayel didn’t get defeated by that and even turned Mayuri’s Bankai against him very briefly. But as much as they’ve been hyped up, Bankai tend not to kill people. Gin got cheated out of killing Aizen with his. Tousen was too arrogant and didn’t just straight up decapitate Kenpachi’s (lovable) plot armor-arse. Kensei got curb-stomped by Wonderweiss even after he released Bankai. And no one else has even shown their Bankai if they have even one aside from Ichigo who, oh yeah, if we’re just talking about killing has never “landed” his either then. Sure, he’s beaten up countless mooks with it and he’s even beaten Don Panini and Grimmjow straight-out, but he beat Byakuya and Uliquorra by going almost full-hollow and used that stupid “Final Getsuga” to defeat Aizen. (And as far as I can tell from summaries of the Fullbring Arc, he didn’t “land” it on anyone there fatally either considering that Byakuya and Kenpachi cleaned up much of that mess for him.)

So…yeah, even if we’re including just “landing” as “hitting”, Soi Fon’s Bankai has a better record than half of the ones we’ve seen, especially since it was used on one of the characters who still has the most broken powers ever. That and her Shikai would be utterly broken if Kubo wasn’t using crappy DBZ rules as soon as he introduced Kenpachi, which means that it just makes her seem even more like a disappointment due to her unpleasant but understandable personality.

As far as I can recall, as a couple people mentioned, his only win is against the Arrcanar Fraccion of Barragan named Po, that huge guy with the whale motif whose power was to get bigger and who beat a (holding back) Ikkaku and who broke a pillar (to no ultimate effect). That’s it and even for that he went straight into Bankai and curbstomped him (which is kind of admirable even if it was overkill because of usual Shonen conventions).

He ultimately ran from Kenpachi with Tousen, especially since Tousen had just gotten the crap kicked out of him for being an idiot. He understandably got OHKO’d by Aizen via instant Black Coffin right after that. And then I don’t think he fought at all again until the above Po thing, after which he then got OHKO’d by Fly-Tousen hitting his Bankai. If he fought during the Fullbring Arc at all, then I wouldn’t know since I wasn’t around. During this arc, even though I missed the beginning part of it, he’s only fought Bambietta, right? If so, then that match ended in a “draw” for him at best since she stole his Bankai, which is arguably a straight out loss (even if it’s a blessing in disguise), and then ran.

As pointed out right after you asked this though, even though his powers suck, Komamura’s still likable enough since he remains level-headed and humble…outside of matters where Tousen was involved. He’s probably the closest thing this manga has to an actual “good” Shinigami since everyone else at Captain level, Ukitake & Unohana included, is at best morally ambiguous as hell if not straight out “evil” (read: Mayuri).

Actually, that’s (quite) debatable whether that was actually the case, really.

Considering this “Bankai don’t heal” thing didn’t come up until literally two weeks and that was it hardly explained in detail even then, we have no idea whether Bankai that aren’t primarily physical (like Tousen’s) even can be damaged like that. Literally the only physical aspect of Tousen’s Bankai were the rings at the beginning which created the sensory deprivation darkness. Kenpachi didn’t attack those at all, so for all we know, his Bankai bursting like that could just be how it normally ends; I don’t recall if we saw how it ended in “Turn Back the Pendelum” when he used on the pre-Vizards. Either that or it could just be how it ends when forced to prematurely because he got his shit pushed in by something, i.e. Kenpachi, his own stupidity. Either way, there’s no way to know if that damaged it permanently since this didn’t come up until way after he was dead despite the fact that Mayuri presumably had data on it and he had become a traitor (and Komamura and/or Kenpachi would have probably mentioned it “breaking”).

So, yeah, I don’t think anyone can “underestimate” anything when it’s that ambiguous, especially since I think everyone in this thread can agree that Kubo is terrible at world-building when he even tries at all, which he rarely does.

Additionally, it doesn’t exactly help your argument that even if you are correct, Tousen apparently forgot that he still had a presuambly broken-ass Shikai as well that he probably could used to take out at least Hisagi instantly, if not Komamura himself due to his dog/wolf/fox/whatever the fuck ears. When viewed in combination with the fact that kido & hado were never (and still haven’t been) fully fleshed out (and probably never will be, so they can serve as deus ex machina), the fact that no one ever really uses either unless it’s plot convenient and the fact that almost no one ever fights cleverly in Bleach (which is part of the reason Aizen was/is so broken), it’s equally as possible that Tousen just “forgot” about his Bankai. Given how busted it is/was, if used intelligently, he could probably have killed anyone on that battlefield not named Yamamoto with it, which Kubo was possibly too lazy to otherwise think around.
