First part: very wrong
Second part: That’d be fabulous. I can just imagine how excited I’d be hearing about a new patch and getting to think “I wonder who they made suck shit this time?”

lol this thread.
Fair enough. I wasn’t aware his counters were 1 frame(Litchi and Tao player), I suppose it’d be possible for him to escape it then. The thing to remember is, if it was done early enough that you’d eat the rest of the super after the counter wore off, you’d get knocked back out of range by the remaining hits, putting you right back were Nu is most comfortable fighting.
As you said though, not that she really needs something like this against Hakumen.
It’s not foolproof against everyone, apparently, but it’s viable enough to use in match play. There’s a few videos floating around.
LOL at Nu lockdown. and cool at rachel semi-lockdown. I never even knew this crap was possible. Especially that spam combo that ends with “jodai-henko”
No really, that Nu crap is insane. I’m kind of praying on a slight debuff before american players figure that crap out.
What’s Arakune’s unblockable? His 214214D super?

tl;dr at this shit.
Litchi is even against Nu? All I wanted to hear.

V-13 player doesn’t think so (6.5-3.5)
Litchi player thinks so (5-5)
decide the destiny!
How is the first part wrong? I think you misunderstood me. When I say “new game” I mean a release of a new version instead of a patch for the current title which is what Japan has been doing for… well forever. Also, they wouldn’t just make changes randomly and make someone “suck shit”.
I’m also skeptical that Aksys will be patching the game, just because I can’t see how the logistics of patching all the arcade machines would work, and I’m not sure the metagame is developed enough to really know what needs to be tweaked (and what they won’t regret tweaking in two years). At the very least, I think they need to wait until after SBO to see. I’d say 9 months is the minimum time that should go between a game’s initial release and even thinking about patching it.
Even so, supposing all the logistics work themselves out (somehow), I hope they don’t change much. Just enough to give help to the bottom two or three and take Nu and Arakune down just a bit. I’m not sure they need much, and I’m too new at the game to suggest anything (others in this thread, capable or not, have done enough of that).
I’ve said in other threads, primarily on the SF4 boards, that patching an arcade fighter and patching a PC MMO/RTS game are so different that you can’t classify them even remotely the same. I know that patching SC4 for consoles did a number on the community, and even then, the final patch had some horrible balance issues that made the game almost more unplayable. And that game didn’t even have an arcade release. If the BlazBlue team can figure something out, though, I’m interested to see how it will go down.
It’s pretty encouraging to me, looking at that tier list, that they basically just have to sliiightly adjust Arakune and Nu and the rest of the tier list looks pretty sound (maybe give Tager a little something extra, but nerfing Ara and Nu will help him too). They won’t have to mess with a lot of other characters too. Small changes to these two (or three) characters will go a long way to tightening up the balance, and they can leave the nine other characters largely untouched. As a first attempt at balance, changing as little as possible is best.
Aug.14-16 - S.B.O.
Aug.20 - Nine month Anniversary of BlazBlue release
Aug.21 - Patch that shit
didn’t melty blood act cadenza had patches when it was in arcade machines? not sure.
i’m pretty sure the arcade boards BB runs on can connect online
yeah we know that arc won’t touch a thing until after SBO, so it makes the fall release of a balance patch seem more plausible
to all these complicated ways to help out haku-men, here’s the best one:
total screen freeze when yukikaze catches a projectile.
think about it
nah give her AHVB
Those numbers on the tier list seem pretty well balanced IMO.
I hate to think that such a competitive game may be broken. I’m a noob to fighting games but I played competitive Starcraft where the balance is perfect – so it really breaks my heart to see tier lists.
I mean I know RTS is nothing like fighting games, but I assume both have evolving strategies. 5 years ago, SC was a completely different game – not because of patches, but because players changed the game.
People used to complain that Protoss was such an easy race to play compared to the others – but Zerg and Terran users just said, “well were going to make it harder”, instead of crying for a patch.
So you could argue that Zerg is low-tier because it requires more attention to macromanagment, but if you put enough effor into it – you can be the most dominant player in the world for years (referring to Pros)
how bad is this tier list… is is like mvc2 roll vs mag, or is it like… ok cant think of example off top of my head, but my point is are the character at least somewhat even? like shit tier still have a legit chance of beating top tier character?
Basically the tier list is correct for the first 3. After that, it can go in any direction as far as characters. If Rachel, Nu, and Arakune were on the same level as the other fighters it would be the most balanced fighter ever. So other than the top 3 everybody is is pretty much even.
are rachel nu and arakune overpowered then?
Overpowered. not really. They just have better gimmicks (mainly zoning) which other characters lack. Definitely not as bad as Roll vs Magneto.
I don’t know, the Tager v Nu match is pretty bad :looney: but yeah seriously, I don’t think I can think of another matchup that is that bad in any game.
From how I understand it, the top 3 are pretty much dominant because they’re a serious threat anywhere on the screen- they can keep out who they need to keep out, and can get in on who they need to get in on. Nu can basically get 30%+ damage on a hit anytime from anywhere, while Rachel and Arakune happen to be the two most mobile characters in the game on top of their powerful zoning tools (not to mention what either of the two of them can do to you up close if they got Silpheed/Curse available)
The rest of the cast after that’s pretty balanced- Carl and Jin are the biggest threats after them, but Carl comes equipped with more drawbacks then the Hindenburg and Jin’s just a really solid character instead of super-dominant at anything. The only characters who are probably too far out on the low end are Bang (who’s usefulness only lasts as long as he has nails to keep the pressure on, and he lacks any way of replenishing them) and Tager (who mostly suffers because he gets locked out of the game by the above big 3 and Carl- he actually does pretty good against the rest of the cast.)
