Hey, I’m just saying, it’s not like SF4 where a Rose would never beat a Ryu, or a Dan could never beat a Sagat.
ANY character can win, some may have to work harder than others, but nothing is impossible.
Exactly, that would be retarded.
The solution to that would be to decrease his damage, while making it easier to get in, but to me, that’s dumb.
Why make him so slow if he can’t damage you a ton?
EDIT: ohh, sorry for the double post (Don’t kill me)
Dumbest thing I’ve heard all day.
How so?
Yea, you may be able to beat Sagat with Dan in arcade mode or whatever, but on a professional level, a Dan, no matter how good, could NEVER beat a Sagat.
Have you ever seen a Rose win a tournament in SF4 before?
How about a Gen, or a Vega?
Didn’t think so.
My point was, the same isn’t true for BB.
Any character can beat any character at a professional level in BB, point blank.
That’s mostly because they’re not using console characters for tournaments.
I think so, anyway.
Dhalsim won the japanese nationals. Against a sagat too.
Vega isn’t a console character, and no one has one a tournament with them.
Dhalsim isn’t a bad character, if that’s what your implying, he has the best zoning in the game, by far.
Wait, so where did a low tier character win a tournament in BB again?
And not to dwell on this stupid comparison, but Eric Kim’s Sagat lost to both a Gen and a Rose at the same damn tournament:
Let’s not get silly here. BlazBlue isn’t any more balanced than SF4, if that’s some kind of point of comparison. The tier spread is objectively wider.
edit: and for the record, I’m not saying that BlazBlue is a terrible game or a terribly balanced game or that any given character can’t beat any other given character. My only point is that’s a really dumb criteria for what is or isn’t a balanced game, because it’s true of most remotely decent fighting games that any character can beat any other character. A good player can always outplay a bad player, that’s not what tiers are about.
Well, what do you consider a “low tier” in BB? The game is pretty balanced.
Tager?
Didn’t the tourny that got held TODAY on SRK get won by a Tager?
I never said Rose couldn’t beat a Sagat, it’s a tough match-up, but not impossible, same for Gen.
I said Dan could never beat Sagat.
Nope. A v-13 won.
You’re seriously using an online internet forum XBox live tournament as a point of reference? An online XBox live tournament that was won by a Nu player who’s been playing for about two weeks?
What the fuck, man.
No, you’re backpedaling, you said Rose can never beat Ryu, and implied that Gen and Rose can’t compete in tournaments so I posted a video from a tournament where a tournament level Sagat got wrecked by exactly those two characters in a tournament while tournamenting. A flesh and blood one.
A lot of peoples point of reference for balance is apparently SF4; let me just write what I’ve been thinking: if you are one of those people that talk about how Sagat is unbeatable and broken in SF4, you have no business suddenly turning around and saying that this game is totally balanced and anybody can beat anybody, downplaying complaints about the balance of this game. If you get to whine about a goddamn 6:4 match-up (oh the horror!) like Ryu vs. Rose or Gen vs. Sagat in SF4, then I get to raise concerns about characters who have multiple 3:7 (or worse!) match-ups and vice versa in a 12 character game.
People seem to think it is cool to diss Street Fighter IV as a way to show their love for blazblue. These things aren’t mutually exclusive people. And quite frankly, for a street fighter game which didn’t have any real updates to it yet, on their first try, they did make a pretty balanced game. OBVIOUSLY Dan isn’t balance but he wasn’t intended to be. Now, you have the liberty to make joke throw away characters when your roster is at 25, that is completely different than a 12 character game.
Second like the guy said, 6 vs. 4 isn’t bad when you have the potential for a few 7 vs. 3 in a 12 character game. If you go by percentages here, it actually might go in the favor of SFIV as more balance, because of the low (n) number in blazblue.
Finally, If you really want a game to reference as THE balanced game. Please Stick to Virtua Fighters. You can pick and chose which iteration you want. For example VF4: final tuned or evolution. Virtua Fighter 5 or its update currently out in Japan. For a 15, then 17, now 19 man game. You literally got just about everyone being relatively even. There are slight descrepancies, but rarely will you get a 8-2 or 7-3 matchup blowout.
still dont understand what so amazing about rachel… i posted in the rachel thread, but feel like this is probably a better place to ask, so whats so amazing about her, if a lot of her frog combo is character specific?
Rachel is just solid in every aspect of the game save for breaking out of/dealing with pressure.
don’t forget that when Tager wins, there is always the chance that the players simply don’t know the vs Tager match up as well as they may know against other characters.
shes a loli
This is very important.
I think in the end, BB will be more balanced than SF4. Nu and arakune might be over the top though. Everyone style is soooo much different from eachother in bb its difficult and frightening to try other characters. lol a roster at 25? i think you mean 20, way too many HADOKEN! characters MINUS useless characters ex: fei-long, rose and sakura. .
Originally SF4 only had 17 playable characters in tournaments with three characters very similar ( akuma, ryu, ken) which makes it 15 characters which is only 3 more than BB. AND remember how different the styles are in BB. I give my hats off to c.viper though, She is much too good to belong in a game like sf4. (dont take that the wrong way) In my opinion some s*** the gave to certain characters for no reason and not to others in sf4 make absolutely no sense whatsoever.
I almost strongly dislike the balance in sf4. Of course they could’ve done a better job like all other games but certain mistakes were inexcusable.
I like BlazBlue a lot, possibly more then SF4, but it’s easy to see that there’s a bigger gap between the top 3 and the bottom 3. Sagat vs Dan is bad, but not Arakune vs Tager bad.
Well, maybe it’s just the top three and Tager, thinking about it. I can’t see a big man with no mobility and little ability to affect someone more then halfway across the screen deal with three of the strongest zoning characters in recent memory, two of which also come with EXTREMELY good mobility on top of it. Unless some revolutionary new Tager technique that can get around that mobility hurdle somehow pops up, I don’t see his place on the tier list improving much as long as v-13, Rachel, and Arakune sit on the top of it. As bad off as Bang is with his Death of a Thousand Cuts issues in a game where some characters will kill you with one or two good openings, at least he has enough going for him that he’s not completely walled out of even being able to play the game.
Then again, it could happen. BB’s already had one character bailed out of the shit tier, and Carl seems to keep climbing the rankings with every new list. The game’s still young, anything can happen.
You’re splitting hairs. If Gen and Rose can beat Sagat, they can beat Ryu. SF4 balance is not bad. It is at least as balanced as Blazblue’s. Fuck Dan. He’s a joke character anyway. And even he’s better than he usually is. v-13 is at least as bad as Sagat. Personally, I think she’s worse. I might someday eat those words, but for now, I haven’t seen any reason to think I will.
Oh yeah, did you really try to use an online tournament filled with people who have had the game for 10 days or less as an example of a game’s balance? Surely someone intelligent enough to turn on a computer and click a browser icon is smarter than that.
Looking at the numbers…sf4 is more balanced. Its just that blazblue, if you just ignore the top three, seems very well balanced.
