BLAZBLUE: Q&A For newcomers (PLEASE POST/CHECK HERE BEFORE MAKING A THREAD!)

Real Talk, don’t waste your money on CT. I’m doing you a favor by telling you this. I think you Europeans are lucky it wasn’t released for you guys, so you didn’t make the mistake of sinking income into it. Seriously, don’t. Just don’t.

Wtf is this upload feature in ranked games? I just noticed today that it was there…does it upload match replays to our HD?

whats up everyone!! just got this game for 20 at gamestop. pretty sweet but still a bit confused. I mostly play ssf2thdremix and sf4. i main with rufus but i can easily pick up shotos. who do you guys recommend starting off with? what are some technical stuff to look out for?? like in sf4 theres focus, cancel focus, ex moves. what should i be picking up? thanks again!!!

can someone play me on this game and show me how its not a button masher?

I dont know, maybe I just dont get the game, playing someone whose high level will show me the depth. Even posting videos of high players would be good. Maybe tutorial vids?

it’s 100% not a mashing game… if you play sf4 and consider this a mashing game you’re literally out of your mind.

please check out the sticky “starting point videos” thread in this section and see for yourself.

at first i couldn’t get this game either.
most confusing for me is not having punch and kick buttons.
trying to work out moves is impossible.

if you are doing it wrong the game feels clunky, slow and mashy. just a mess really.
after a play through of arcade with a few characters i am starting to see how it works.

rachel is becoming an early favourite of my.
she reminds me of watson from battle fantasia.
if battle fantasia is (asw) street fighter
then this feels more like marvel vs capcom.
i dont like marvel vs capcom but so far this one is growing on me.

big question,
wtf are the rounds called rebels?

Because everyone in the story is rebelling in some way.

eh?

i’m not getting that so far.
maybe story mode will enlighten me.

tbh i don’t see the need to break with tradition.
rounds are rounds.
its like a new wrestling game suddenling deciding to say they are fighting in the (eg) sweat-pit instead of the ring.

Hey guys, sorry for the noob question but is there a way to upload somewhere saved replays on the Xbox?
I would like to watch them on the PC but I can’t figure out why -_-

I’m tardy to the party, seeing as I am an european with an xbox. I’ve played v-13 for maybe 10-15 hours online and have learned the basic bnb combos, D spam stuff and some counterhit anti-air combos.

Anyway, I guess it would be a fair assessment to say that I am at the level of a level 30 player online. I can do some big damage, but I really don’t understand the fundamentals of this game. More precisely I have absolutely no idea what to do when put under a lot of pressure, my tactic currently being to guard, try to instant block and randomly press A. Secondly I am absolutely worthless at anti-airing, or controlling space in general. I am constantly trying to run away…

Insights anyone?

Hell-0 everyone,

2 years ago when i saw this game for the first time i fall in love with it, sadly i live in europe and i was really disappointed when i read the news about this game not going to be realease in EU territories. I have both PS3 and 360 so i could have imported the ps3 version but it was too expensive for me
After a year and half later we, EU peeps, get Calamity Trigger, 2 3 months before the release of the updated version, Continuum Shift (amiright?)
Because of that, I have a few question to ask.

1] I heard the story in the 1st game is pretty good, should i get it anyway even if CS is coming out pretty soon? i can find it for about 20-30?..

2] Should i get CT just to get the taste of the gameplay before jumping on CS?

3] Do you guys have any details on the new challanges in CS? are they like in SF IV? so you can get an idea of how that character plays?? or just hard ass trials that are going to kill you?

4] What about the new tutorial thing? how is it going to help you out?? is it just a video just like in the limited edition of CT or step by step teaching of everything from ground/air dashes to cancels and everything else??

5] When i saw BB, 2 years ago, i already had my mind ready to jump on some characters.

)
Ragna (badass motherfu
ker imo)

**)

Noel (something like equilibrium, love it)
Jin (love katanas)
Ratchel (looks a bit similar to a character i used to play in Pocket Fighter, love that game)
Hakumen (samurai like, pretty badass looking and interesting counter move. sounds fun)
Bang (gotta love ninjas)

I’d like to know (few words) how those characters turn out to be. broken or not. fun to play (your opinion, i know…) etc.

I DO NOT CARE if a character is bottom tier or if its overused, I PLAY WHAT IS FUN FOR ME (fu*k the haters). At the end, when i get good at the game, I’ll end up playing all the characters anyway, to learn all the match ups and strenght & weaknesses of each character.

6] How’s overall the balance of the game? Is CS perfecting the gameplay or is it creating more problems? what’s the response of the Arcade players so far?

7] How well does the online work? can somebody from EU respond to this one?

I guess that is all for now, if i have more question i’ll ask them later. see ya.

Thanks for reading all this.

Oh yeah, is there a site or youtube channel where i can watch HD top gameplay videos? on youtube i found this “Kaqn” Ragna player. He looks pretty sick, but the quality of the videos is horrible.

any links?

Thinking about picking this game up… Just two questions, how is it online? And are there alot of players online?

Still a decent amount on both XBL and PSN. Personally i’d say wait till BBCS comes out soon. The online netcode is good. Check out dustloop forums for more shit.

Hrmmm yea i might do that… Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

BBCT PC is coming 30th of this month as well if they don’t delay it again…

Hi all,

SF player who’s just picked up CT and I’m confused about fall recovery/teching.

Most of the guides list your options like this;

http://blazblue.byethost13.com/bbct/system.html#fallrecovery

I’m not seeing the exact same thing though.

Firstly none of them mention that I can hit any button the moment I touch the floor to avoid being knocked down at all, which I found a bit odd as this seems quite important.

It seems if I don’t tech as I hit the ground (or it’s an untechable knockdown) I then go into a knocked down state where I have 4 options

direction+A/B/C = roll with invincibility (same as guides list)
A/B/C on its own = quick rise with invincibility (guide says up+A/B/C!?)
down plus A/B/C = slightly quicker get up (no invincibility?)
no input = slow get up (no invincibility?)

Confused, why do the guides say I need to push up+A/B/C when just A/B/C springs me to my feet quickly (white flash with green ‘sparkles’)

What is the point in the down+A/B/C slower get up option??

Thanks

any advice for somebody JUST getting into this game? Played it ages ago, during a SFIV tournament, and loved it, but have NO clue how to play lol.

I tried reading some threads about Ragna, and went into a multiplayer game, only to get fucking DEVASTATED. Ugliest beating I’ve ever seen in my life. I think I hit my opponent a grand total of twice, all match :frowning: I couldn’t do anything besides get hit by moves, no matter where I was, or what I tried lol

I’m 100% noob scrub president when it comes to this game right now, and the total amount of available info leaves me baffled as to where I should be looking in general, for the knowledge I will need to at least win a round/match/anything.

Some quick advice to everyone, This game is very combo heavy, it may seem easier than SF at first, but only the challenging combos do any decent damage, I first started off by hitting training mode and learning my character’s BnB, untill I could get it 100% of the time. Another thing of note: you can block in the air, but if a move has anti-air properties it cannot be blocked normally in the air, only with a barrier block or an instablock.

I have a question myself, more relating to this thread: When are we going to have a “Continuum Shift” section? SF4 has a section for both super and vanilla, and with CS 2 weeks away it seems pretty silly that we are still talking about CS in the Calamity Trigger section.

Edit: Nevermind. I’m better off asking this on dustloop.
