BLAZBLUE: Q&A For newcomers (PLEASE POST/CHECK HERE BEFORE MAKING A THREAD!)

BlazBlue Japan and USA copies PS3. Any difference?

I just bought a Japan copy off a forum member and the case and disc are Arcsystems. But when I pop in the game in, the ESRB and the “T” show up and the game plays in full english. No japanese anywhere in game at all.

Now I have the Aksys PS3 version also and it seems like I am playing the identical game.

Anyone come across this issue?

Since the jap release was so close to the one here, I assumed they were, in fact, the same game.

I was thinking the same thing also.
But I thought that the Dub was only for our version. Also
on the packaging I don’t see AKSYS anywhere on the jpn one till I put in the game and see a ESRB rating, as opposed to a CERO rating.

Since the game was region free and released at the same time as our local version, the game detects which region console you have and adjusts accordingly.

Wow ic thanks man.
So it is like the Neo-Geo AES or MVS then. cool.

will there be DLC and what

What do you all think DLC will be if and when its added?

There is already some alternate colors Xbox 360 DLC that is not on the PS3 yet last I checked.

(I have both versions of the game.)

Is it just me, or is QCFx2 super input stricter in this game than any SF game has ever been? I’ve never had such a hard time just standing there and doing a super as I have in BB, and I like to think my execution in fighters is pretty good.

I’ve only really had reliable success when I do the QCFs lightning fast. If I do it slow at all, there’s no chance it comes out. And even then, when I’m in training, I’ll see exactly the proper inputs and sometimes it won’t come out.

Am I alone in this? Is there some trick I’m missing? I can do HCB + forward supers a lot slower and they seem to come out most of the time, but QCFx2 supers seem like they need to be done in 5 frames or else nothing happens.

just make sure you’re hitting all the directions D DF F D DF F with emphasis on the DF and don’t do it too fast nor too slow

The game has no negative edging. You probably never explicitly used it in other games, but the lack of it here does make a difference. You’ll have to make some slight adjustments, mainly to when you hit the button.

Quick question. Who exactly are the “noob” characters in this game?

I’m thinking Noel, Jin, And maybe Ragna.

v13

for every hour of training you put into v13, you get x10 the results. And it’s easy to get by with out having good fundamentals.

That’s the only one?

People keep complaining that I use noob characters when I own them With Ragna… = /

I know he’s basic, but I don’t consider him a “noob character.”

Don’t be so hung up on what other people think.

You win, they lose. Ignore their excuses and just play what you like.

Why is this? I’m just wondering. I’ve only played the game once so I couldn’t get a feel for any of the characters.

wrong thread

edit: note to newbies like myself. I don’t know if it’s the case for other characters but Rachel’s forward dash can be held, and she zips across the screen.

another thing I learned but haven’t tried yet is
Super jump cancel (sjc): press diagonal back down, then diagonal forward up

I don’t play or own the game, but there was a V-13 player at evo that was beaten by a Noel, I believe. Not that my opinion matters, lol.

I got a question, and I’m sure it’s commonly asked around here. I got to play this for casuals for the first time yesterday and fell in love with it. First up I gotta get it, but second of all, how steep is the learning curve for this? I was kinda able to pick it up, the guy I was playing kept tearing me up with Arakune before I could do anything. XD

The learning curve for the game itself really isn’t that difficult, I jumped straight from SF4 to Blazblue pretty smoothly. The only thing I had trouble picking up was instant blocks and rapid cancels, and people now being able to go from full screen turtling to right-on-top-of-you rushdown almost instantaneously.

Characters and character matchups, though, tend to have some pretty annoying learning curves - don’t pick up Carl anytime soon and you’ll be fine.

Noel is very newbie friendly and it’s quite easy to link moves into combos with her drive mechanics.

Plus all her special moves are QCF or QCB (well almost all) so they are easy to pull off even on gamepad.

Also Tao is probably on the easier side of characters.
