BLAZBLUE for SFSU... let's do it!

Am I lying though? I could have sworn there’s always a group of people outside the arcade playing it on their laptops…many a time, actually.

We can ask Eric if SJSU asked and see how “well” it did over there…in fact, it never did good anywhere at all.

Bad in the sense that it will prolly do shitty at SJSU:shake:

This is a discussion for another thread, but to sum it up, Eric refused to use Sanwa parts for the machine and the MBAC players refused to play on HAPP. Due to the ease of accessibility of a sorta-kinda arcade perfect port on the PC, it was fairly easy to have MBAC on Sanwa parts.

The only reason the same doesn’t happen for GGXXAC each week is because it’s a pain in the ass to lug around an extra TV and PS2 (in fact, we had someone who had both a small TV and PS2 who lived on campus last year and we relied on him then at the time. However, he no longer attends SJSU, so now we are forced to use the cab). This has become a non-problem since Eric says GG will be on Sanwa parts after the break.

you have people who refuse to play on some certain type of sticks? Yet you get BB, shit I would play on games with a button missing

Man…I’m a little pissed right now after reading some of this, I still want BB to do well for Eric so we can get it in SFSU…but goddamn.

Anyway, enough derailment. Akysys Games is taking a look at our neck of the woods in the BB norcal thread, I think getting more locations in SF is possible. I’ve just about given up on Metreon Tilt since it seems like boss-man wants to cater to the UFO catcher scene (???) over the fighter scene…but I guess it’s still worth trying to get Akysys in touch with him. Also, another longshot, but I work in SFSU’s campus in the Westfield Center, which has a movie theater with an arcade in it. It’s not huge by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m still gonna try to make a connection there for the game’s sake.

…But seriously what I’m starting to realize is that there needs to be a place similar to SVGL in hours closer to SF, weekend traffic makes a huge difference.

All that out of the way, any know how the Blazblue cab is doing in SJSU at this current moment? The thread has been silent for about a month now.

move the Puzzle Fighter out the way it dont even work!

Exactly what I’m saying. Most of those guys there are the anime-loving nerd types, so they feel like they NEED to have Japanese sticks so that they can be closer to becoming Japanese…

Anyway, the point is that whether or not it had a certain type of stick or not, people requested the game, it was delivered. Jap sticks or not, there was no support for the game at all. It is very hard to install those sticks as well, it’s not as easy as people think.

And honestly, if the game came out on PC or whatever, and there’s an arcade port of it…which would people choose to play? Free or Pay-to-Play at the arcade? All that I know is that japan-o-philes are usually either very broke or very spoiled.

Fixed.

I played Blazblue for 10 minutes at SJSU. Game is so crazy feeling! Definitely feels like its own game and not a guilty gear clone. Here’s to hoping dumbass GG fags play it enough to warrant an SFSU release.

I can’t believe the joystick thing is even an issue. People like that shouldn’t be allowed to play games at all.

Also, if the game does SHITTY at SJSU, the smart thing to do would be to move it to SFSU, naturally.

The smart thing to do is to move it to SFSU permanently seeing as people love to hate on sticks even if they get a certain game. I complain about the sticks a lot but I’ve gotten use to both happ and sanwa/seimitsu that I could care less about sticks and more about the game.

Anyway seeing the game my guess that it will probably do “ok” at SJSU. You only have the handfull of GG players still left around that would play it consistently and the other people who could be interested would see it as a flashy game and might not play it.

boycott all .75 games.
bring back t he original arcade.

It’s a little depressing to leave the fate of other BB boards in the hands of how popular BB is at SJSU. But hey, if it works out, more BB boards all around, if it doesn’t, move BB to SFSU?
