Well let’s hope the additional character thing wasn’t a practical joke…
I think European players will be pissed off to no end if we’re getting basic Calamity Trigger and have to buy the promised content additionally.
I know I would simply not buy the shit.
It would also make no sense to release basic CT instead of CS here. And what d3v said also makes no sense. Why would they include the “new characters and moves” but not add the gameplay changes of CS? That’s bullshit.
Going by simple logic and the press release, Europe will get Continuum Shift as first BB release.
It all still seems far fetched to me but more power ya I guess…
I find it hard to believe that Europe would be getting console update before Japan or North America on consoles.
Why?
PQube announced Europe getting additional features for BB that overlap exactly with Continuum Shift’s that was announced like 2 weeks later.
To me it makes all sense. We haven’t had BB at all (except for the peeps importing it), so giving us the basic version while the rest of the world already plays the update makes no sense to me, though.
Believe me, I really want BlazBlue and I really wanted to play this game since I heard of its arcade release in Japan, but if Europe gets Calamity Trigger and once again is shat on by the publishers I’ll simply boycott the shit, tell everyone I know to not buy the game and send mails to PQube for ripping us off.
because:
there are more reasons but im eating right now, so ill stop here
With how I’ve seen Europe treated in the past, I wouldn’t be surprised. I like that you have wishful thinking.
But don’t get mad with the possbility of a “I told you so.”
Continuum Shift’s Japanese Arcade release was aimed to be Q4 2009. There have been times where Europe got the release of a game first before the other 2 regions, so I wouldn’t completely lock it out.
But I’ll stick with my opinion. If we get CT, not CS, I’ll simply not buy that game. I’m not a fan of getting ripped off.
Edit: Y’know what, instead of speculating like morons, I’ll simply write a mail to the company. It’s better this way.
There is pretty much 0 chance that Europe will get a console release of CS after two months in the arcade, before both the US and Japan get one, and before Europe’s even gotten the CT release.
The “europe will get CT + two exclusive characters!” hype was most likely a lie perpetuated by the fact that arcsys was working on CS. So, sorry Europe. You have my condolences.
It has never been said how many characters Europe would get. This article says that Europe would get exclusive content, like new characters and moves. There hasn’t anything been specified.
But, as said, I have written an eMail to PQube, we will hopefully recieve an official answer soon.
As in I don’t think that they’re going mix EO and traditional together. Not for VS anyway. So it shouldn’t matter for anyone but for casuals.
Hi Joel,
Many thanks for your email and we appreciate your thoughts and also your interest in what we feel is an amazing title.
I can confirm that Blazblue PS3 and X360 will be released throughout Europe in February 2010. This will be the European version and will have enhanced features (to be advised) in comparison to the title recently released in N. America and Japan.
There are plans for the next version of Blazblue, but this is still in development, therefore any news / previews of potential features is not confirmed as all games are subject to feature set change as products evolve through the various stages of development.
As soon as we are in a position to announce the next Blazblue title we will do this, but rest assured that the European version of the first Blazblue title will be absolutely amazing and stunning !!
I hope this answers all your questions.

Dear Mr. Hutchinson,
I hope I got the right person or if I should've contacted Ms. Kelly.
I'm aware that your company is very busy and you probably have been asked this question before, so I hope I'm not a bother. However, European gamers still are riddled about the European release of the Arksys fighting game BlazBlue.
I have closely followed the news about the game since PQube has announced their goal to release the game in Europe. In the initial press release**, your company has stated that they want to include new content to the gameplay, such as new characters and moves. A few weeks later, Arksys has announced the release of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, with additions that are overlapping with those of PQube's announced exclusive content for BlazBlue's European release, namely new moves and new characters. My first thought was that Europe would recieve Continuum Shift initially.
However, the official homepage of BlazBlue in Europe, http://www.blazbluegame.com/, speaks of "12 characters" (while there should be at least 13, seeing how 12 is the basic number of characters in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger's console release), making it look like we would get Calamity Trigger, instead of Continuum Shift.
To me, personally, that would make little sense, because I'm sure that PQube doesn't aim to lower the sales by not keeping the promises they made when initially announcing the game's publishing in Europe, as well as letting the whole region left behind with the older version of the game while the rest of the world plays the updated Continuum Shift.
My question now is: Which version of BlazBlue will we get? Calamity Trigger, the current version, or Continuum Shift, the upcoming one?
If it is Calamity Trigger, it begs the question: Why? Or will we get the update to Continuum Shift as DLC? If so, will it be a free update, or will we have to pay?
Don't get me wrong, I really want to own this game, and I really wanted to play it since it has been released in the Japanese Arcades, but from an economic viewpoint, I don't really want to buy BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, if BlazBlue: Continuum Shift will be released only a few months shortly after. I would feel ripped off because I haven't been able to play this game for such a long time, and when I finally get it, it's already outdated.
I hope you understand my concerns and I'm looking forward hearing from you.
Best regards,
Joel C.

Bottom Line:
d3v actually was right. Damn. What a ripoff.
And what really sucks is, if people don’t buy the old, “outdated” BB and it’s unprofitable they might not release the updated one.
PS3 can just import though, right?
PS3 can import, yes, and if the 360 version of CS isn’t region-locked like the 360 version of CT, that maybe too.
But you’re right, yea. That was a really bad decision on the side of those European publishers - in their position I would’ve delayed the European release date and released Continuum Shift instead of Calamity Trigger 2.0.
On the bright side, the console release for CS will probably be released june/july with the european version following maybe 1-2 months after seeing that they seemed to have found a publisher.
If they aren’t discouraged by the sales.
At least the 360 peeps get to play now, but still though, :lame:.
its what you get for trying to talk smack when you rely on PAL region releases.
It’s like the guy who loses 99 matches and wins one, and then brags about that one match that he won, just to find out that the other guy’s controller broke halfway through that one match.
I’m not being malicious, i’m just laughing at your expense, don’t worry.
I wasn’t bragging, I was just using simple logic and conclusion. That the European publishers are uneconomic dumbasses is nothing I can influence.
then why would you expect not to get screwed over… after a history of getting screwed over?
Cause there have been occasions where Europe didn’t get screwed over. Oh well, I guess we’re getting back to the SNES era.
