Man, the struggle is realâŚyour Tsubaki was too much for me lol. I gotta hunker down and get some serious grinding done for next time!
If you want a couple of quick pointers, Iâd suggest:
Learn the CT throw combo in the corner (Throw > CT > 6CC > 236C > 214C > 22B) itâs super easy, you just have to mash CT as soon as you realize the throw isnât being teched. It gives you like 1500 more damage than doing a basic midscreen throw combo, and 3500 damage off a throw is nothing to shake a stick at.
Improve your Anti-air game - 2C isnât as good as it used to be, but itâs all weâve got, and if you donât rep it, people will jump in on you for free.
Vary your blockstrings - you did (jabs) > 5B(B) > (2BB >) 5CC > Charge Cancel > Done way too often and thatâs basically surrendering your pressure after having applied very little mixup. Use 6B more, for starters, or charge cancel off 5B, or heck, just dash in after 2B (which I ALWAYS forget)
I think those three things will go a pretty good ways towards improving your game.
HmmâŚgot a point there. I wasnât applying enough pressure and tactics, relying too much on gimmicks, throw attempts, and DPs -_- Probably why I was getting stonewalled and sacked all the time. And being totally reckless and sloppy wasnât helping me much either.
I donât know that you were relying TOO much on throw attempts, so much than you just werenât mixing in enough other stuff - throws were working and are an important part of Tsubakiâs game plan, but you need to optimize your combos off them (especially in the corner), and mix in other stuff so itâs harder for the opponent to tech on anticipation.
Itâs L-W-X, but I was just doing ranked or whatever. That, and I kinda thought I already had you added?

âexperiencedâ is a good word for it. I always get uncomfortable when people start accusing me of being -good-.
Also, do as I say, not as I do, because my ability to find problems is way better than my ability to fix them in my own gameplay. (How many times did I reset pressure off 2B last night? Oh. Zero. At least I remembered to screw around with 22B and 3C in neutral.)
Anyway, youâre welcome to more games anytime, but I really, REALLY donât know how to play anyone except Tsubaki, so iâm not much good for matchup experience.
Yeah, a lot of times with fighters itâs a lot easier to know what you have to do, how to do it, and the way to deal with certain matchups than it is to actually put that into action since it doesnât always apply for the human tendency to sometimes get a feeling of âoh shit!â when something happens.
