BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND announced!

I don’t know about muzzle filter since it still force crouches unless there’s a special setup.

Didn’t stop injustice!

Yeah, but they’ve announced not yet out games plenty of times.

And on the 6B>Muzzle Flitter, it’s actually character specific.

better example would be Street Fighter X Tekken

(and that game showed up twice for EVO main stage even after Mr. Wizard stated that SFxT wouldn’t be in the lineup for EVO 2013)

Uh…how can they make the English version first, when the entire game is produced in Japan, by people who speak Japanese? “Okay guys, write the script for the new BlazBlue story mode, but don’t write it in your native language!”

Let’s be realistic. How big is BlazBlue in the West compared to Japan? The answer is “no Xbox 360 -version.”

Edit/the ost has been uploaded to YT.

Yeah, as Celerity pointed out, this is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT issue from what I was talking about. I was complaining that there aren’t enough voice actors working on this stuff in America, so every game is a case of “Now who does this person sound like… OH! It’s Akihiko!” Or “Hmmm, sounds like Yuri Lowenthal again.”

You’re right that we often can’t recognize bad voicework in Japanese, but you’re also not addressing the whole picture. English voicework does in fact tend to be inferior because of how it is produced. In general, in Japan, voicework is done with multiple actors present, allowing them to ‘riff off’ each other and generally avoid the perils of performing in a vacuum. In English, the standard method of voice recording is to put the actor in a booth and give them a list of lines to read - often, it seems, without even giving them context, which is why you hear lines in a lot of games that are delivered fine, but with completely the wrong inflection/emphasis for the situation they are used in. So while Japanese voicework might not be “inherently superior” their method of recording it is.

The English in BB is MOSTLY good, but like almost all English voice work, is not entirely consistent in terms of quality.

Voice-acting and live-acting are opposites both in Japan and NA. The reason why you never (bad acting is different than the voice being irritating or ill-fitting) hear bad Japanese voicework is because animation is a much bigger industry there, thus so is voice-acting. While I’m no expert, my nerd-knowledge says they have as many voice-acting schools as NA has for live-acting and vice versa. Japan’s TV drama’s are commonly known for stiff performances, as NA is known for (or has been known, especially in the early 2000’s) stiff voice-acting in low-budget production dubs, both in TV and video games. On the other side it’s no wonder why American TV dramas and movies are shown across the globe for they are that much better both in production and acting quality than JP’s.

[In American dub quality] Yes, there are glaring exceptions like Devil May Cry games (3->) but as I said this was the problem let’s say before 2004 etc. As for the quality of [low budget] NA dubs getting better, in a way I think video games have influenced this. Voice-acting in video games wasn’t a very big deal before the 6th generation of consoles, with Ps2 alone “video game voice-acting” just exploded into mainstream.

As for American dubs recycling same actors, they do a decent job don’t they? After all they’re voice-actors and with dubbing still being a relatively small industry in NA most of the time it’s handled by same few studios over & over again. At least I haven’t still heard any NA dub being worse than the LEGENDARY FINNISH DIGIMON DUB.

Stuffs that may already be known but whatevs:

-Noel can’t jump cancel 6A on block. I’m drawing a blank on if she could do that in EX, but a blocked 6A is hella unsafe so you wanna hitconfirm it and go into something safe in blocked.
-While I was playing with kidviper earlier today, he mentioned that via TKing, Azrael can basically instantly do a special after dashing since he can jump cancel his dash. He showed if off a few times in random matches and man, it’s not possible to react to that at all from what I’ve seen. Azrael is basically attacking you before you realize what side he’s on. I’ll try to see how easy or hard it is later on because this could be a huge mixup tool.

Loving training mode hit stun bar. Talk about an intuitive way to encourage beginners to develop their own combos at their own pace.

I have to say that CP has a ton of really good FEATURES; The ‘all fight’ player room is brilliant, the hitstun bar is really smart, auto pass is finally in, and so on. Very, very good stuff going on here from a sort of ‘infrastructure surrounding the game’ perspective. I’m not aware of anything else that comes close.

Yeah, I really hope that this is the Blazblue game that finally gets the FGC to see it seriously and as a legit game, because lord knows we deserve it after all these years.

Woohoo, finally got the game! Rachel’s new combo routes are fun as shit, and Izayoi is just as godlike as I had hoped. The game overall feels much more fluid.

Summary of trying to play Ragna in BBCP:

For sure, ArcSys really know how to put together a whole package. Whether you are a fan of it (I am) or not, P4U is an amazing overall experience. And I think BB:C outdoes it in terms of presentation etc. What I love about ArcSys is that they favor transparency. In SFIV people cry about unblockables, P4U explicitly lets you know when one occurs.

Currently slogging my way through story mode cos I’m a cheapskate!

I’m spendin the moneys. I don’t want to be spoiled for when I get the English version.

No English version for me… that’s way down the track. I read/speak Japanese anyway, but dang some of those chapters are long. Plenty of cool art and voice acting though. Very trippy.

Hold 3. QCF has more priority than DP motions now, but if you hold down 3, it’ll always be a dp.

THANK YOU… Been having this DP problem since CS1, it’s nice that the put that trick in here.

I got to play Chrono Phantasma last night!

Definitely much faster than CS Extend!!!

Actually is seems to matter what character you play. For some QCF has priority and others DP. But ending on 3 is of course always the right thing to do.

It’s not a ‘trick’, it’s called “Doing the motion correctly” o.o
