BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND announced!

Are all the qualifiers over now?

I don’t know, I don’t care. I lost 3 tournaments on Arc Revolution Cup.

At least wait until you play the game before going full-theory mode on us. Tsubaki has a lot of unique mechanics in CP. I’ve seen new command grabs and projectiles covering shield charges and shit mang

Because enough time for the Ragna community to invent totally new combo paths for everyone is not enough time for the Tsubaki community to invent one basic combo.

Riiiight.

That’s probably because the Tsubaki community is actually working on Izayoi.

I’d say that’s more the fault of the Tsubaki community, Personally. I see that the Bang, Litchi, Arakune, Azrael and Jin boards have all delved really deep into the CP iterations. Don’t blame the character.

Oh, they’ve come up with -plenty-, just nothing off anti-air ground normals, because we have no way to relaunch. It’s not a complicated problem, it’s just working with the tools you have.

And frankly, Tsubaki combo theory is way more complicated than any of the characters you listed, simply as a result of having another resource to manage.

Occam’s Razor: Which is more likely? That the Tsubaki community is completely incapable of coming up with a key combo months after the game’s release, or that that combo doesn’t exist?

You expected to win them all, or what? lol

It’s kind of hard to theorycraft anything regarding Izayoi when nobody in Japan seems to know how to play her effectively. Her normals have weird, narrow hitboxes and her combo potential is vastly different with/without GA.

Everyone keeps saying she’s terrible, but I’m not convinced that anyone has tried hard enough. I’m pretty excited to get my hands on her either way.

Not really.

Actually, recently I’ve been seeing people doing much better work with her - definitely not terrible, but definitely pretty nonstandard. The only problem with her that I see right now is that her design lends to really BORING play while you’re trying to build up stars. =/ You don’t HAVE to play her that way, but spamming Sonic Saber and her ‘DP’ seems like the most effective way to build stars right now.

I’m not sure she’s going to be any sort of crazy powerhouse, but she seems very solid right now.

Hey. Bang at the moment is looking Hella > Tsubaki in terms of combo theory / mixups / resets.

Think about it. We’ve already covered some FRKZ, IAD 22A, New DD Resets, Combos out of Overdrive, Nail Oki, Bumper combos, Frame Traps and even 4 Seal combos.

Tsubaki peeps got nay excuses mayn.

Combos out of overdrive, check, Install combos, check (Equivalent of FRKZ only 5 times as complicated because there are 5 levels!), new DD resets/oki, check, frame traps, check, one, two, three, four, five charge combos, check, air charge cancel combos, check, Install + Overdrive combos, check. We win, sorry.

Why not just switch mains, Airk?

Because Tsubaki players secretly have an affinity for unavailable women.

Plus, there is some kind of thing called “character loyalty”. It’s something us Noel mains are pretty familiar with.

Definitely a hearty share of this. Plus it’s very satisfying to win with a “bad” character. Plus I’m not convinced that I would ACTUALLY do better with anyone else (at least, not for a very long time). Plus I’d hate to have all the time spent learning this character wasted.

Anyway, it’d be super silly to change characters before I see how the new game works out for me, personally. I’m actually way more worried that the reduced hitstop is going to utterly destroy my already mediocre hitconfirming abilities than I am worried about my character.

Which is not to say I don’t think Hazama needs nerfs.

I fully understand character loyalty. But does it honestly precede blatant masochism?

From what I’ve gathered, you really dislike how Tsubaki was managed throughout past iterations of BlazBlue and the upcoming version. Thus, you continuously rant/complain about her.

CP is coming out soon, why not start fresh with a new character?

Unless, of course; I am misinterpreting your feelings and perhaps you do actually really like some aspects of her that supersede her faults (you already kinda mentioned a few).

I do really dislike the way they have MANAGED the character. Let’s say they had nerfed Valk into the ground in terms of damage and 6C was now -6. Would you quit the character because Arc Sys did something stupid?

Besides, isn’t ranting/complaining what you do on SRK?

Valkenhayn was already nerfed immensely in the damage department in comparison to his Extend counterpart (not to the ground, though) and I wouldn’t care about 6C being -6 (it’s not even that great, I mash it for fun sometimes, but you’ll see it a lot less at higher levels of play).

If those 2 changes you had mentioned did come into fruition (I’d really only truly care about the damage one), I’d still most definitely main Valkenhayn. Sure, I’d complain about it a bit, but it wouldn’t be on a consistent basis. I’d still enjoy playing my character, and I would most definitely stay optimistic regardless. As long as I’m deriving genuine pleasure out of playing my character then I’m content.

Want to know how to truly ruin Valkenhayn? Leave everything as is in CP, and take away his new wolf normals. He would instantly become the worst character in the entire game, free. Doing something like that would quite obviously be completely absurd, and in a situation like that; I would most likely drop him (which is something that I’d really hate to do).

All I’m saying is, if you are truly finding yourself to be consistently agitated/frustrated with your character and derive little to no pleasure from playing her; why bother? Right?

But hey, perhaps you do. This is just how I’ve managed to interpret your situation, and ultimately only you can confirm whether or not my suspicions are genuine.

So when they don’t “truly” ruin your character, what do you do? :stuck_out_tongue: What if they’d done the CP changes, and taken away some extra stuff, because they didn’t want him to be too good? Where do you draw the line? You know there’s a great design under there with some interesting mechanics, and yet somehow they keep refusing to quite give the character the tools to be what you feel they could be?

There is no “line in the sand” where you can point and say “Right there! That’s the time to drop a character.”
