Blazblue Chrono Phantasma - a new installment

reason im try my best to hold off as i have 3 disks that are basically drink coasters…well 2 since i tossed CS in the trash since i had extend and as you can see in this thread majority passed on extend…its pretty fucking dead online, before i ever get a chance to learn a char they patch and totally change the game or release a new disk

I’m not in some special club, but I do speak from experience. In terms of wanting to play the latest game available, the “anime game” scene would want to play the latest game since it’s new and fresh. For the GG scene in 2007, there was talk to have GG Slash at Evo even though AC was out at th etime. After some talk between Evo staff and GG community, it was agreed to have Evo qualifiers (read: West, East, etc.) as Slash but have Evo World be AC. To not play the latest version is a very odd concept.

To call me selfish is something I find pretty insulting. I love the FGC (as a whole, although there are a lot of things I feel hurt the scene), and only want to see it grow. I’m pretty opinionated, and I’m not afraid to speak my mind. I honestly don’t see in what world it is considered selfish to give up your game’s spot at Evo or a game and community that would have a lot more entrants and were a lot hungrier for it. The choices were to have a CT tournament, which would have had poor numbers, or give the spot to MvC2, which helps the community as a whole. How is that selfish?

I do appreciate you coming to the states to play in the CS1 side tournament though. Good stuff.

Wait, did you just say Extend’s online is dead because a handful of posters in this topic said they didn’t get it?

Why would they make Noel look sluttier…

Thanks for the more measured response this time. Sorry for calling you selfish, but the selfish thing about giving up CT was the act of making the decision for a much larger community that was given no chance to respond in time. I personally knew (I’ve since moved away from Scotland) a bunch of people who all loved CT and were psyched to to travel to Evo who cancelled their plans upon hearing the news. The only reason I even saw that thread at the time was because I was one of the few players in my community who went on dustloop. As I’m sure you know, the majority of the UK scene is on neoempire. Also, on a few smaller IRCs I was on a ton of people who don’t normally go on dustloop, neoempire, or even very often to the local tournies were all making plans to come to Evo to test out their online warrior muscles. This whole thing was prematurely stifled because the assumption on dustloop was essentially “there’s no BB scene but the one evidenced in this one thread.”

It may not have seemed selfish at the time from your point of view, but just by myself I knew 30 or so people that were going to go to Evo but cancelled because of the switch; and there were probably quite a few more people I didn’t know. No one wanted to compete at a game that wasn’t even out for them yet, the most anyone had was that CS arcade rip that lagged like hell and was pointless for anything more than a fake training mode. Street Fighter at Evo always has a tremendous amount of online players come to test their skills there even if they aren’t regular tourneygoers, why should BB be any different?

I agree CS was a more balanced game and I agree CT would probably have resulted in a Nu/Ara/Rachel victory, but the whole point of that Evo should have been to build a community where there hadn’t really been a large one previously. Hope that makes some sense.

Man that new Hazama super was awesome.

Ultimately, it just sounds like a series of unfortunate events. I don’t know if it could have been avoided, since you seem to be speaking more about the EU scene than the US scene. A majority of the responses in that thread you’re talking about were from the US scene, which would have been a majority of the entrants of BB if it was at Evo that year. Evo staff went to Dustloop since it’s a US based site that a majority of the US scene goes to, and a majority of players that go to Evo are US players. Unfortunately, the UK or international scenes aren’t generally considered since their pressence is generally small at Evo by comparison. I don’t think anything could have been done at that point.

I like the idea of new content, sure, and the new character designs bode well since they at least seem to be trying to design their characters again in a way that aren’t just trying to cash in on “moe” and “shipping”.

Anyway, the trailer initially made me feel pretty hype, but now that I’ve had a little more chance to think about it, I’m not sure how I feel about the idea of yet another BlazBlue iteration.

How long ago did American players get access (in a non-import, non-piracy fashion) to Extend? It feels like we’re just continuuing that trend that was one of the major contributors killing any interest in BlazBlue since CT. Oh it’s only been out in America for a few months? Fuck it! Next version is already loketesting in Japan!

Capcom was treading on coals with its quick turnover from Marvel 3 to Ultimate (what was that, 10 months from release to release?). Arc has been doing that turnover rate for several years now, and it’s not doing them any favors.

Kokomoe and Jubei will be DLC add ons, count on it.

Pretty much, was a situation where no one really came out for the better. Anyway though, I’m really crossing my fingers on P4A bringing more people into the anime fighter sector and breathing new life into the scene. Here’s to the future.

i sorta skipped Extend and lost track of Blazblue for the past few months

did anything really happen in that game’s story mode or does this pick up right after the end of CS where they have Nu in the cauldron?

No i was saying it because it was pretty dead day 1 for extend and then i see most posters on here did not bother with the upgrade, then i went online and there is lobbys,

but so scattered across the globe as just a fist full of all 1 bar red connections as usual…it was a accumulation of using the online myself and the new enlightenment that most that played previous versions, did not like the game enough to upgrade from yes these forum posts and i understand why.

Here just to make you feel better i was actually not talking out of my anus…since i could not find any games i beat the arcade with platinum and recorded the ending after i made that post!!!

The trailer represents CS, CSII, and CSE as a single entity when talking about story progression (although I guess it uses animation from the CSE OP). Does that answer it for you?

It was dead (well, hardly dead) the first few days because a lot of gamestops got shipments in late. I remember a lot of people calling up different stores to see who even had a copy.

I’m curious what other joke endings they will have. Those were always the best part of the story. Like the Glasses of Eros, and Valley Pirate Nu.

“like, Ar me mate, and all that stuff.”

“Nu, Valley, or Pirate, pick one.”

BlazBlue CP. 4Chan must either be excited or confused.

Ok, never played extend, but Makoto’s gag reel almost makes me want to.

Punk ass no boobs daddy.

I’m sure they are both.

if hakumen is not in the top 3 of this game im not buying it >:(

its worth picking up just for the story, im sure on amazon with free shipping you could get it cheap for like 10 -15 bucks or even less used, i should have got it for my ps3 as im sure there are more jap players on there then on xboxlive

I’m conflicted, on one hand the new stuff looks interesting, on the other hand mu and nu seem to be missing, and I hate losing characters, such as justice and kliff, and I was really looking forward to continuing the trend of the non playable characters in the story becoming playable, I wanted to use the Bad@$$ cat. Oh well lets hope these new ones are interesting (have high hopes for azrael)
