no, the competitive players (like me) bought it because it completely changed many characters and ultimately is the most balanced iteration in the series. That’s not a selling point for casuals, so tournament attendance plummeted.
This is exactly how I see the sonic fans are like. No mater how much sega tries, they always bitch.
Who the hell complained about AE being DLC?! I think thats the future, and the exact perfect way companies should do updates from now on! I myself am fine with paying for an AE like update, since we are getting new content, balances, and other stuff the programmers worked hard on.
Why didn’t Arc just do EXTEND like AE where those who purchased the original disc could simply buy a cheap upgrade while the rest could buy a new disc?
Define “best”, because from what I can tell, Extended sucked shit. I guess you can say it’s the most balance, but who cares if the game is boring as fuck. If you wanna go with best, honestly CT was regardless of balance issues.
But whatever, who am I to say.
I wish they did that. I would have paid 15 bucks or so for it.
… What was so boring? Never got extend so I don’t know, but isn’t balance the thing everyone wants? CS was fun, how much could they have changed to make it “boring”
CT was all Nu all the time. Plus Tager.
Can’t tell if serious, or trolling the hell out of me.
I don’t troll. I disliked the changes they made to Rachel, and I still hated fighting Jin and his freaking ice cars, but I enjoyed myself playing it. The story was fun(if confusing), loved the gag reels, and the online was decent. Plus it gave me Makoto and Platinum, who I play the most other then Rachel and Lambda.
So I had fun.
Problem is you lost all the serious players who weren’t specifically bb people.
Sent from my Radar 4G using Board Express
This.
There’s plenty of FGs on the market, giving semi-serious people who bought the CS DLC characters the finger and asking them for $40 more for balance changes, one character and story scenarios (lol) was pretty fucking low, specially after they proved themselves they could rebalance the game via updates.
Sad thing is that yeah, Extend is my favourite iteration of the series ever since CT. I would’ve gadly paid for a DLC rebalance, but since BB is not my main game I had zero reasons to buy Extend and I’ll think twice before buying any DLC for BB ever again.
I agree with those saying Extend was the most balanced and overall best iteration of the series. And I say this as a Noel player. Yeah, she wasn’t top tier anymore, but she was still A- which was fine for me. And those wall-bouncing Assault Through corner combos were so fun. I’m curious to see how the gameplay changes to Noel will playout. Namely since it looks like she has a shottie now.
Honestly, BB Story Mode is incredible overrated, I would have enjoyed it more if weren’t because in order to achieve the true ending, you had to play tons of stories, where a lot of them repetead the same scenes or ideas with changes of dialogues, which also makes you believe that there is an depth story where in fact is just repeating the same all the time to make you think that there is a 40 hour story on your hand
FG games should follow the MK route, just tell 1 story, and make it in a way where all the characters are used but at the same time that they had a good flow in the story without being too repetitive (that being said, as story per se, I loved more BB than MK which was dead for me after the clusterfuck that was the ending, but since MK told his story better, I in the end appreciate it more)
And for the actual game, extended was the jumping the shark moment for me, specially considering that the first 3 dlc where very expensive and ARC SYSTEM could not even make you save your colors dlc for calamity trigger, make it the buy worthless, so I don’t trust them anymore
Oddly enough, my biggest complaint about Extend involves them taking some of the OST from the series out. Not being able to have stuff like Ao-Iconoclast pop up for a match on random was kinda sad to me. And well, I still figure Arcsys is better about DLC than a lot of other companies out there, so won’t really complain that much. And hey, when this Blazblue inevitably has Kokonoe as DLC, people will complain about paying $8 for her, but Arcsys would likely be smart enough to know a lot of people will.
That implies that people enjoyed the story. Honestly, it’s trash!
But yeah, the MK story telling is actually really well done. And of course MK9 story WAY the hell better than Blaz story will ever be.
But MK9 story is just a reboot of– yeah yeah, shut it weeabos. A story can be complete trash, but as long as it’s filled with anime juice, people will love it (the game Blood Party comes to mind. Those guys made such a big deal out of the twist when it was the dumbest shit ever. Complement it by saying how “complex” it was… WT?!)
BB’s story is garbage, that isn’t going to change with a couple of indie game-looking characters.
I hope gameplay improves, even so, I am not going to play it, with GGXXACR and TTT2 playing BB will be a horrible joke.
I’m going to try P4A too since i’m a fan of Megaten, but my hopes aren’t up.
MK had the best story of recent fighting games. BB’s was over complicated, but I did enjoy the effort they were putting into it, as well as the gag reals and the Please Help me bits. Honestly I think SC had the best story back in 2 and 3, but 4 and 5 were jokes compared to 2 and 3.
But I just said that I saw CS as a sequel, rather than an update. And if I confused you, I meant KOF 13 added so much that to call it an update to KOF 12 is just wrong.
Not gonna shame the poor guy in the first or second page that said the story was the main reason they played.
He totally said it though!
My best friend liked it for the story, but then again he is a big fan of the anime conventions held in it. But at least it gets him to actually play the game with me, so whatever.
I’m getting the feeling from some of the stuff in this thread Extend may have suffered from some licensing expiry issues where they had to cut some content for a new version, thus making it rather hard to make a DLC update match up with it.
From their end they might not have figured they would sell enough DLC to make it worth it over selling a disk game to the hardcore fans anyways. I mean it was full price in Japan even as I recall. Not as if it’s ASW’s main priority how strong the US tournament scene is.
maybe because every numbered sequel is a different series rather than a sequel??
i never saw sf3 series as a sequel of sf2 to be honest
