So far netcode is getting solid reviews. Hybrid GGPO ftw.
Sorry man, i got 360.
360 User: add me Ne0russell - that’s a zero
NeoRussell
Stores in Vaughan over Colossus says they’re getting blazblue in this friday.
Nagata, you should get a PS3 anyway and get yourself a good stick and blazblue/street fighter 4. hell once we both have everything setup we could play some games and see if the netcode is really up to snuff.
Hmmm… I too am highly intersted in BlazBlue… And similar to Nagata, I will be 100% starting from scratch.
i think he HAS a 360 and a good stick lol.
hes saying he’ll be getting this on PS3 instead of 360 lol.
Word to all those discouraged from Carl’s broken vid because i know it’ll happen: Carl’s a really really shitty character (much further below tager) without that trap. And even with it, its hard to win. I’ve played Carl since BB came out in november so this is from personal experience.
For all thats starting from scratch, the link I posted up has a lot of info on the system. If you got questions post them here, i’ll try to answer as well.
And before anyone asks
Q: "Is this like GG"
A: As a GG player, i’d say this is a dumbed down version of GG. But for others, it might just feel like GG.
Q: "Is this as hard as GG"
A: No. In GG, a lot of good combos require FRCs and shit which is practically 1f timing and other technical stuff, here its pretty easy. Game is technically easier as well.
Q: "Is it as good as GG"
A: Can’t compare two different games. I’d pick GG over BB but GG honestly requires too much time and effort to learn if you haven’t been playing it already. So if you really get into this game, give GG a try too!
He did said he will buy it for the PS3 if the net code was “up to nsuff”. I would have assumed he already has a PS3 after reading something like that.
The netcode is a fuck of a lot better than SFIV.
yes more taggers to combo, yes keep them comming !!!
meh
i minus whale pick this up
ps. i’m starting from scratch too
How to win @ day-1 BlazBlue: wake-up and random supers.
I’m not joking.
Important things to know about blocking:
-
A+B is your faultless defense from GG, and it consumes “barrier” gauge (below your healthbar)
-
you can Just Defend (called IB, Instant Block) to reduce blockstun by ~8 frames iirc
-
always block ground-to-air attacks with A+B or IB: many are air-unblockable, otherwise
-
if you block without A+B for too long, you get guardcrushed (the guard metre is below the timer)
How to receive extra damage:
-
if you burst, you take 50% more damage and lose all your barrier (for A+B defense)
-
if you run out of barrier (by using A+B too much), you can’t burst and you take 50% more damage until the gauge regenerates
-
if you run away too much, you see “Negative Warning”, then if you keep running away, you get “Negative Penalty” (red bars on your character) and take 100% more damage
Throws:
-
B+C to throw and throw-break
-
all characters have air throws
-
there are kara-throws
-
you can throw during combos and during blockstun ("!!" appears), but the throwbreak window is about 1 second long
-
if you press B+C twice during the throwbreak window, you FAIL the throwbreak (red “X” appears)
-
if you get thrown out of a move (red “X” appears), you cannot break it
-
command grabs are unbreakable (red “X” appears) unless you’re in hitstun or blockstun, in which case “!!” appears and you can break it
Universal Guard: press (down)back+A+B+C
- if they tried to throw, you get a throw break
- otherwise, you get A+B defense
- works even if you have no barrier left
Tager is a great grappler and lots of fun with his magnetism, his QCF+B slide that’s immune to projectiles, and his invincible 360+[A] (holding A).
E.g. when they’re magnetized, his DP+C will suck them in from anywhere in the air! Gimmicky, but hilarious.
… But then you face Rachel/Arakune/Nu-13.
For example, this is what the Tager vs Arakune matchup is like:
-
If you get Cursed, you lose.
-
To touch Arakune, you must first pass through a gauntlet of various projectiles that can Curse, including clouds that Curse on block. Only then will you have a chance of winning.
There IS a Tager player qualified for SBO, though, so it can be done.
Umm… This is actually a good match up for Tager. You should be aware that his Lighting dash can go through projectiles, especially curses and bees. So i wouldn’t say it’s a quick lose.
NeoRussell
its not a “good” match up for Tager, but its not as hard as you think (at this stage) if you use 236B correctly because its like full screen.
Basically Arakune’s j236D and j2D has really really long recovery and thats when you want to swipe. But specific things like this doesn’t mean anything much at this point if you don’t know what you’re even doing. Get your own character down first, then worry about matchups.
I don’t think i’ll ever get used to numpad notation.
mostly due to the fact that my laptop does not have a numpad.
SRK needs arrow emoticons like DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, UP, QCF, etc. would make these things so much easier.
 :d: :u: :r: :l: :qcf: etc…
lol i’m still an SRK noob.
It’s not that bad. I remember when I started playing SC2 (a long time ago), they followed the wiki notation and I didn’t know what to do. Had to learn because I tried doing the notation from a Tekken background and that does not work. Main reason is because there is a B and D button in Blaz Blue. That is already taken by SF notation as back and down.
Just imagine a joysticks grid:
789
456
123
Each number represents a direction as you can see, with 5 being neutral. Look at your NumPan on your keyboard if you don’t have a laptop.
So for example:
I tell you to do 236+A
That translates to qcf+A
Here are a few notations that you will need to familiarize yourself with:
236
214
623 - Shoryuken
421 - backwards shoryuken
89 - Instant air dash
22
214, 1236 - KOF super style
236, 3214 - KOF super style
There maybe others but you’ll be mostly dealing with these notations.
There is a DVD in the game that show tutorials but it does not follow wiki notation. They still say up, down, right, left. Rightfully so but literally, everybody in GG or BB games, they speak by numbers. Just familiarize yourself with it. It’s really not that hard. If I can do it (and i’m bad at games), then you can do it too.
The other I have to say is that Blaz Blue sometimes does not rely on special moves to win the game.
I noticed that the game is based on 1 notation 1 button inputs. Let me explain.
Tager:
Sure he has specials moves but I only use it when in a combo.
Other than that, my ground game consist of 1 notation 1 button inputs:
6A, 5C, 5D
5A, 5B, 5D
2A, 2B, 623C
It does get complicated but i just want to say that this game is not Street Fighter where you do specials to get in.
Each direction associated with a button press consist of different moves. More to come later.
NeoRussell
So the game is already broken? :wtf:
Define broken?
People (like me) have learned to accept Carl’s Clap Trap Loop.
He is useless without it so it’s allowed.
