I think you’re talking about the sf2 hyper fighting version of his vertical ball sir. He went up with the ball and came downwards with the ball just like honda’s ass splash! That would be interesting weapon to add for blanka in ssf4.

IMO, more hit stun on Hori Balls needs to happen. Hitting someone shouldn’t leave the open to ex/super/ultra you!! I dont know if the Wild Fang grab should be a mashing grab like in SF2 or not. It does slightly more damage than his back roll, and is a knock down to set up mind games. From demos it looks like Ultras will have more links, his isnt impossible but still improbable in a match. Im just glad to have Blanka back after 3rd strike ignored him along with other SF2 characters that make Street Fighter…well Street Fighter. You cant have a true Street Fighter game without Blanka!!! (I consider Alpha 1&2 Blanka being in training…so theyre the exception :slight_smile: )

even with ex meter blanka can’t do shit as ex upball is kara TU-able on hit. so sagat can pressure blanka as much as he like with pokes , meaties and tiger knees. Unless you hit him whilst he’s airborn you will eat TU > ultra on hit or block.

You say that like it’s a good thing. Gief green hand being punishable on hit is just as bad as Blanka ball being punishable on hit.

Really, I think all rainbow rolls should be armor-breaking. There’s little to point in using any of them other than ex. A cancel on the flip-back would be interesting. I think he could do something like that in SFEX series.

And I guess I’ve playing ST/HDR for too long but I’d really like horiz balls to be sped up and be considered off-the-ground near-instantly (at least for the jab ball or something).

If it broke armor, then yes. If not then it’d likely be useless unless he recovered quickly enough to punish FAs if he crosses them up. Regardless it’d make more sense just to make rainbow balls break armor.

I know this is not gonna get a lot of consideration but I would love it most if they changed blanka’s appearance in SSF4. He looks way cooler back in SF2 when he actually looks fucking scary and carnal in appearance. In SF4 he just like a cuddly muppet or something, and his alt safari costume is fucking ridiculous. His bite on head move should look more like SF2 when as a child it was fucking scary when blanka was munching on your character’s head spraying blood everywhere. not nearly as impressive in SF4. And yeah naturally blanka is mid tier and is looking for a boost in gameplay in the next installment. though since I don’t main blanka I don’t know exactly how capcom shoudl go about this

I want forward hop and EX Rainbow Roll not to overlap each other any more when Blanka has a charge. Sometimes when i’m in a match i want to do a combo into a forward hop, and i get an EX Rainbow instead. And i’m using 1 button assigned for all three kicks…

Except normal green hand still has a purpose, despite being punishable on hit. Combined with the fact that everyone can punish it (unlike the various Blanka ball types, where only certain characters can, and most of them are his worst matchups), characters who still have huge problems with Gief can punish it, means that making it safe on hit isn’t a helpful choice balance wise. Whereas for Blanka, making vertical ball & horizontal ball safe on hit against everybody fixes a lot of his issues.

exactly green hand should be punishable on hit, its purpose is to advance in to spd. if it hit and put him right next to you for a mixup it’d be stupid.

Blanka is really easy to win with. I main him but not for this reason, so I have no problem with him being nerfed a little. Just not a lot, cause I’ll kill myself and put that on your conscience.

G3/G2 opponents

I definately agree there should be more frames of hitstun with blanka’s horizontal ball. I can’t even use it as a crossup without being punished afterwards. Basically I can only use it in this manner if I know it’ll end the round.

If EX-Up ball doesn’t knock down, then it definitely needs to do more hitstun. It’s ridiculous that some characters can punish this move with Ultra on hit, mid screen. In other words, it’s not even situational. As soon as you hit Abel, Rose, Seth, Akuma…etc with this move, they can do Ultra and there’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you don’t consider Ultras and Supers, some chars can still punish it with specials or normals.

EX Up Ball should be neutral on hit at the very least. Actually I take that back. -5 to -10 on hit should be fine. Charge characters can’t really punish this move anyway.
