BLANKA'S wish list upgrades for ssf4

Hmm, watching the video again. It looks like the first pound the electricity isn’t full screen. Don’t know if its me but wasn’t Guy on the ground then only got hit by the 2nd pound which is full screen? I don’t know how it will work against a full screen Tiger but if Seth K says its punishable then i guess it is. Btw guys, Was that last ultra the anti air one??

I think the last one is the ground one when you are right next to them. When he did the anti air one, Guy was right next to Blanka and he didnt get hit at all.

This ultra looks like it can be combo’d easiler off of a focus crumple, like dictators ultra in SF4. It looks like if you do the ground verson as the opponent falls to the ground, it would land. Or, you could do lvl 2 focus, backdash, and then do ultra from half screen. this is all speculation though.

If Capcom makes the first ultra an easier link, like 2 frames, i might keep that one for the damage output.

It’s far more likely to end up a Hosenka/Demon style punishment Ultra. Being able to attack at fullscreen, even if it has a 10 or more frame startup, is still going to give tou useful applications. Not sure about the usefulness of the anti-air version, but having access to it on top of the ground version can’t hurt.

does whack damage on top of being gimmicky though. You can already tell it’s going to have odd hit properties- it’s another one with an initial stun hit followed by the rest of teh ultra connecting. I can see lots of situations where it’ll look like it should be conecting, then not connect.

upball looks unchanged, or at least, no knock down properties.

it might recover faster, but without a side to side comparison with old recover, i can’t be sure. this is all off a youtube video. whether or not sagat can still kara uppercut punish, i can’t tell, but it looks like he can.
But, if blanka gets fullscreen fireball punish, that may make upballs unneccessary for ground purposes anyway.

Who knows. My initial reaction was that the ultra was wonky, but now after reading the forum, and if it can be fadc after elec, and is truly full screen (none of this half screen or even 3/4 screen bs) then blanka may truly have something useful here.

recover on blanka roll is still going to be punishable by balrog rush punch, and other current normal punishes. I saw guy able to completely run into blankas face after a blocked hori ball. guy didnt punish, but thats because he didnt attack, he just ran, it looks like he could easily punish ball, in same way fuerte can run and slide after blocked ball

Well if he’s not vastly improved i’m going ahead with plan A, ditching his low tier ass.

One thing I don’t like about Blanka’s new Ultra is the restrictive motion. Blanka’s got a slow dash, so charging downback and then FADC into Ultra might not be so practical. Cross-up Ultra mixup might be better though because you can space your hop after a knockdown so that it lands ambiguously and then do the end the ultra motion on any up for the Ultra. In other words, you can actually complete the motion after the cross-up because the horizontal component is irrelevant.

Come to think of it, this might actually give his anti-air Ultra auto-correct properties.

How can the new ultra connect from FADC electricity when electricity knocks down and doesn’t juggle.

Anyhow, Shout of Earth seems like a very versatile ultra…say bye bye to elec cannonball…

I hope they change the motion of the new ultra. It doesn’t look it should have a charge command.

electricity does leave them in a juggle state, and you can fadc his elec in iv but his ultra doesn’t scoop airbourn opponents.

SO in SFIV they are in a jugglable state from electricity, but Blanka has no moves with which to juggle them? Or if he does… what moves?

he can juggle super in the corner if you cancel the electricity

what are you talking about? it’s a supercancel thats viable near the corner (5 character lengths), i do it all the time vs scrubs and good players alike.

Sorry for not knowing, but what’s the commands? Is it (Charge back) P,P,P,P,P…b,f,b,f P?
Or is it (Charge back) P,P,P,P,P…mp+mk, f f, b, f, P?

i find it most easiest keeping the charge whilst in the middle of a jump in.
so in that vid, jump in, (charge) RH, jab<> (tap x 3-5)<>jab

Blanka is in the Top 5 list of best Character in the tier list. Even moved up a spot in the latest : I don’t see why a lot think hes bad. Then again I know shit about blanka.
His new ultra is kinda cool, unique, anti-air and ground, ground one seems to hit fully around him even if the dude is not close so that’s cool. Wonder howmany will switch though, then again teh Chip dmg is also reduced on his old ultra I heard
