For those that haven’t heard, chip damage on the original ultra got nerfed. Could mean that the same happened for its damage in general, in which case it hopefully this means the move got buffed elsewhere, like we’ve been asking for.
i wonder if this can be comboed into
this is the SFIV call of lightning,. not CVS

i agree with the idea of making his vertical beast ball hit on the come down, like HF
but personally the main change i want to see in blanka is his FADC. its just slow enough so that he cant string any combos together
make that little hop faster so we can atleast jump in HK, MK, LP, HP Beast ball, FADC, cr. LK, cr. LK, cr.LK, EX Beast ball
am i right?
I’m not sure Blanka needed a vertical anti-air that badly. It’s not like guys are trying to cross him up all day… Maybe the range is better than what it looks like though.
I was at the Las Vegas Fight Club tonight, and here’s what I noticed with Blanka:
First and foremost, his walk speed is GREATLY improved. Im talking FAST. Just like he should be.
His jump remained the same.
Cr. HP is a better move now. It’s faster, sticks out farther, and seems to be a much better poke and anti air.
Cr. MP is still a great and wonky ass anti air.
S. HP is still nice.
Hop seems to be completely the same as it is in SF4.
Horizontal ball appears to fly closer to the ground. It has a different arc when landing than it does in SF4. It seems like a lower arc that lands faster. I didnt play against a Rog, and the only Chun I played was Mike Watson, and after I beat him he switched to Sagat and destroyed me, so I didnt get a chance to see if they can still punish a hori ball on hit with Ultra. It appears that they wont be able to with the new arc on landing though.
Blanka’s 2nd ultra has 2 versions to it, and is done just like a Guile Flash Kick or Vega Ultra in SF4, but with the two version being done with kicks or punches. The punch version is an anti air. you can actually hold down the buttons and choose to release the ultra when you want for a short amount of time. I caught someone jumping in on me with it, and it does solid damage. The other version is a “anti ground.” It literally says that on the command list. I didnt land it the way it is supposed to be landed, and that is as a punishment to fireballs or any stupid the opponent does, because Seth Killian told me that it punishes fireball and all other moves at full screen. Yes, you read that right. This ultra can punish fireballs at full screen. Seth said it will trade, but they will eat the ultra in full. So that is pretty amazing. Anti Sagat much? I wasnt aware of this until after I played Watson though, and I only landed the ultra when me and bunch of guys were just trying new shit out with out characters before the tournament started.
Its really late, so I cant think of much more, but if anyone has any questions on Blanka changes, feel free to ask!
LOL thats actually me testing it out right there haha. I was fully confused at first on how it was supposed to hit.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm scratches beard interesting, the improvements may go a long way…
the sagat matchup may therefore change completely, with blanka running away and asbsoribing tiger shots until he gets ultra and then building super meter with elec reps baiting sagat to advance or throw fireballs.
UPBALL CHANGES???
Thank you kindly for your report.
Also elec fadc ground ultra may work, as may trade elec ultra.
Yeah. Walk speed improvement alone could alter the Sagat match up on paper…in theory… Did any balls do knockdown on hit?
Thanks for the info.
just in theory this could be big for blanka…
Walk speed increase :
-> bulldogging fireballs may actually be viable now. Currently it is not. Coupled with an anti fireball super this could change matchups in a big way.
-> walking electricity will be buffed a lot.
Safer Balls on block:
Boxer, balrog, fei, sagat, cammy, bison, honda, matchups will be radically changed. I’m REALLY skeptical that his ball will be sufficiently safe to have this lot not able counter special move him on block. Horizontal ball being safeo n hit isn’t a big deal as you should be subbing electricity in most combos anyway. It’s all about close range HP balls being safe on block.
I saw someone SWEEP blanka out of the horizontal ball!!! WTF!!! At 1st glance I didn’t like his new super/ultra, but I think the more I think about it that ultra/super might turn into the only ultra you use with blanka in ssf4. With capcom weaken the chip damage/hit damage on the og blanka ultra there is no fucking reason to use it now imo. I’ll prolly use the nw ultra only now, unless the old ultra can be used as AA. The 1st hit f the new ultra looks like an overhead and then the ground pound electric 2nd hit looks like a low attack like necro’s electric snake that covers boths sides of him.
This could lead into cross up gimmicks also. The walking speed maybe faster because the game seems overall faster when looking at the vid’s. Thanks for the updates sir. Keep them coming because blanka players around the world want to know. The AA ultra version looks like they have to be right above blanka to hit. Does it have any outer/horizontal range to it’s vertical range for the AA ultra version? So blanka get’s the gen treatment by getting 2 new ultra’s by pick the new ultra. That’s a win win imo. Now I can’t wait to test this stuff when I get my copy.
Yo mullah, there’s one thing that I see that might piss me off. I don’t know what version of the electricity someone is using and what vid I saw it i, but I saw blanka’s electricity push them futher across the fucking screen! This is wack if the improved his walking speed but added more push on blocking the electricity. This means you won’t beable to do more than 1 walking electricity anymore. Hopefully I was seeing things and this isn’t true.
I’m thinking that will have sick utility as a corner trapping move. You’d be too afraid to jump over him once you’re cornered.
Thanks for the report dude! Sounding alright so far. Guess we won’t know till someone spends more time on him!
look at the video. look how far the blanka ball bounces off blocked hits. WAY further than it did before making it more difficult more people to punish i guess since range might not be right. aka sim. but im sure rog/akuma’s demon/misc things can still punish it. im glad his speed is increased, but im curious when they say it trades in your favor with fireballs at fullscreen. you mean the ground ultra? and why do you have to hold the PPP for the air one? does it time when you want to hit a jumping opponent? or maybe acts like a bait? i wonder how you would be able to block it lol
I’ve heard that you can’t charge/cancel moves out of coward crouch now, did anyone at the event mess around with this?
I thought I was imagining myself when I saw that in the first Rufus match. I can’t remember what the pushback on block is, but maybe you can use elec -> hop -> elec on hit?
i can’t view youtube vids at work so i am just going on what was reported above. When i get home i’ll be able to ascertain how safe balls are.
Larry if thats true then thats retarded, walking electricity i don’t actually use anymore BUT i WOULD have used it if there wasn’t more pushback, again i’ll be chekcing the vids when i get home.
Can someone explain his new ground ultra to me, and if sagat low tigers from full screen it must be fucking light speed to tag him on reaction. Is it?
No videos showing how it would work against a Tiger shot but it seems that the ground pound covers the whole floor. In that video Guy jumped over the blanka and still got hit when he landed so its not just the floor where blanka is facing its the whole stages. Thats what it seemed like to me anyways.
i literally have no idea what he does, so he ground pounds the floor with his fists and what does that do, full screen hitbox? lol what does he do next?
Mullah-
He does a little flip (probably happens during ultra freeze time) slams the ground with his fist, while the entire floor gets electrified (also his body seems to be covered in electricity as well).
In the video Guy jumps over him (way over) and lands behind blanka on the floor while its electrified. It’s never used in against a fireball or reaction.
that sounds promising, expecially if the floor is instantly electrified.
useful if it catches jumpers who have attacked and given up trip gaurd, especially vs gief and honda
Thanks for answering my question
