So,I was playing vs Emblemlord yesterday and after the first few matches in which he stunned me several times,I just had no clue anymore what to do.I did several mistakes though and I could have played better,but this was the first time I have played vs a good Sagat in SSF4.Do you guys think the match up vs Sagat is much easier in SSF4 now?
Because these matches didn’t feel like that,but it could just be that I played too bad.
Don’t do random balls or jumpins or you’ll just get kara-DP’d. Use coward crouch to avoid Tiger Shots (not as effective as in SFIV though). Sagat can be safe jumped when he doesn’t have super. A useful setup is whiffed cross-up lp ball into whiffed jab into neutral jump HK (the timing is tricky though). Also, you hardly used Blanka’s BnB combo which does more damage than the cr.mk xx v.ball that you did instead. Work on that link and the electricity combos from cr.mk. You can also counter-hit trap with s.lp xx electricity. You should also try more cross-up shenanigans to gauge their reaction. Ultra 2 will put an end to Tiger Shots. Use EX Rainbow to escape the corner until they’ve proven they can punish it. Don’t use EX V ball because it’s punishable on hit. If they’re DP’ing your blockstrings after a jump in then bait it to keep them honest. Use more focus bait.
I don’t know…, I’ve never gotten Kara DP’ed or EX tiger shot after a ball in SSF4. In vanilla, yes. But not super. I know you can eat it after an up ball, but regular ball? hasn’t happened to me yet. You should really turtle when you have the lead. Then again, I’m The Realyst and all I do is turtle. :\ But yea, there are times there when you have a good 30% lead and you are still chasing Sagat down. This makes no sense to me. You are using Ultra 1. You should be using Ultra 2. Also you are not punishing with max damage.

Definitely still possible. He eats kara DP after a blocked EX ball in the first vid at about 3:48s. Low EX Tiger Shot is an easier punish though. Ball must be blocked standing and it needs reversal timing.
all you try to do is relentlessly roll and jump forward. What you want to do is remove all the crap from your game that allows you to beat scrubs but causes you to lose against good players. Instead of rolling at sagat (who can punish on block) or jumping like an animal, try to walk in and bulldog tiger shots, this will actually increase your chances of landing a jumpin as it forces sagat to fireball you to keep you out. As it stands you just jump in and got tiger uppercutted lots. Try blocking on wakeup too and crossups vs a very good sagat are really not an option unless safe jumped which yours weren’t
20 minutes in practice mode and you’ll have it down. I don’t think that hop ultra was on reaction to Gief’s ex. If it was than it was brilliant otherwise Gief would have one if he just blocked.
i’m a noob myself, and your games better than mine, but i think the sagat really pressured you with crouching lk when you were down. you had ultra1; it’s a perfect way to say “get the fuck off of me!” to people who use such pressure tactics. it doesn’t work very often, but makes them very cautious about using wakeup pressure such as what the sagat player used on you.
don’t you all hate how ex upball whiffs on some moves when you’re so certain it should connect?!?!
anyway, input for hop-over to the other side into ultra? i can randomly get it by wiggling the stick back and forth, but should i go back, forward +3kick, back, forard +3punches all in the same direction or compensate for where i am after the hop-over?
Ye,the Sagat players I have played so far weren’t doing so much pressure like Emblemlord.
Quite hard to play vs his Sagat,although the other Sagat players I have played so far weren’t so difficult to beat.

Critique my Blanka! Other than being patient, turtling a lot more, and punish properly on whiffed flash kicks, what else do I need to do? This was the first time I used Blanka against a Guile in SSF4, so please go easy on me.
