So, Edition Select in USF4. Anyone else tempted to go back to Vanilla Blanka? Capcom’s balancing hasn’t really done anything to take away from his gimmicky nature, with USF4 inexplicably making cr.mk pushback farther, despite a bunch of good changes.
Is his BS 600 dmg Vanilla Ultra 50/50 mixups coming back looking good to anyone?
I’d rather just play super Blanka, he’s better overall i think, though I’d like to see how vanilla LP safeballs interact with some moves introduced later like adon jag kicks.
IMO I can’t imagine playing any version without ex upball knocking down … Usf4 blanka is gonna be the best… Sadly edition select is not for blanka players… Time to learn sagat and start doing all his bs including fireball cutscenes ultra unblockables (remember those)
According to what people are saying, this version select thing is exclusive to offline mode, so I suppose we still need to make sure they are aware we dont like that change.
Yeah like I said in the other thread, I’d suggest tweeting @Haunts, @CapcomFighters, @TheComboFiend and telling them to revert the c.MK change so we don’t lose a primary footsies tool.
Does dash to u1 have any pros on the easier hop to u1? Also, does anyone know good setups to create a guessing game where dash u1 doesn’t cross up but hop u1 does?
only moves I know blanka can juggle from other than from the free juggle created by ex horizontal ball are super and u2, but neither gets full hits. EX upball doesn’t let you juggle though as far as I can tell.

Well actually juggle system is really based on juggle points. So TECHNICALLY all of blankas special that causes knockdown can be juggled by his ultra or super if the situation arise.
This is why you got the electricity cancel into super combo in the corner or those funky electricity into U2.
So I know it theoretically can juggle but just wonder if they float in a certain way that guarantees it without any funky setups
The only juggles for ground U2 (AA U2 does not juggle at all) that I know of are after a upball trade high up in the air or after the first hit of LP Super in the corner
I miss Vanilla/Super hori ball against shotos. Was a great footsie tool and HP ball does such great chip. You could also HP ball after HP elec for even better chip. My opinion is that Blanka/Ryu was 6-4 in super. Will be fun to break out Super Blanka against the shoto army.
This was a huge contributing factor to why so many online scrubs had/have such disproportionate hate for Blanka, since so many of them play Ryu or Ken.
This might all be wrong since it was a long time ago, but sagat had to stand block the ball to punish it, so It used to leave him slightly more vulnerable to max range slide in footsies, but it was a bad play since crumple wombo combo meant ur ass.
The hk kara srk punish didnt work if done as a reversal so even my local sagat who was excellent would slip up on the punish from time to time so if sagat had no ultra meter and blanka does, it was worth using in footsies regardless of being punishable because A it is a great poke, B safe on crouch block, C can ultra punish a failed punish.
It’s true that Sagat could punish you, but back on Vanilla days (especially in the beginning) it was really rare to see that.
Back then I used to play against some of the best brazilian players, and it wasn’t a coincidence that they all mained Sagat, and they seldom punished me for abusing hori balls.
