vs. honda

sweep, whiff jab, nj.hp, os st.hk

whiff u2
block u1
beats lp headbutt, all versions of buttslam other than mk whiff or get hit
trade ex headbutt, mk buttslam

you have to be on point to get the trade with ex headbutt, but pretty worth it vs. meterless honda especially close to the corner.

vs. balrog

reversal behavior off of fake crossup jump jab in the corner is sooo timing based, possible to get stuff to whiff though, setup still not recommended if the player knows about it

I’m bad at the unblockable after not practicing it, it’s pretty easy to learn the timings for crossup j.hk vs. not

vs. guy

in corner f.throw backdash, f.dash, j.mk will make ex tatsu whiff which is a miracle

sweep, whiff cr.hp, st.hp, meaty st.hp setup, makes ex tatsu whiff

vs. yun

max range sweep, shimmy a tiny bit back, sweep, st.hp. meaty makes upkicks whiff though you’re incredibly far from yun


for prox os end at db, it’s pretty shit for u1, best uses are balls/u2, still not great for blanka like most os.

Found something mildly interesting about Blanka’s HK v.ball - it’s impossible to throw him out of the whiff recovery. The published frame data is wrong - the grounded frames are actually “landing frames” that prevent him from jumping, but he can press buttons and tech throws during those frames.

Sweep, forward jump whiff attack, cr.lk is another meaty that I think you missed.

I’ve moved away from doing meaty cr.lk in that situation. i prefer the mixup of whiffing the rockcrusher. I’ll add it in though, because I still use it sometimes in the corner.

so the focus cancel window in usf4 mod feels later than in console for upball.

If it’s as late as I think you should be able to do crossup upball into rfc into a full combo.

Wonder if we gonna have the luxury of hit and block fadc being significantly different timing. There’s a few characters Dp where you can time FA so that it only activates on block only. Obviously only useful for ex Upball

New to Blanka and there was no Q&A thread so this seemed an appropriate place to ask; Is Jab>any version of Electricity a true block string? I mean for either Far standing jab or close with any version of electricity. Or if it is a blockstring, does it matter which version of electricity you use?

It normally is, but on weird hurtbox characters at absolute max range far lp xx hp elec will not be a true blockstring, but lp/mp will whiff at this range anyways.

You’re generally okay though as long as you’re canceling on the first possible cancelable frame.

Don’t know if you guys know this but here we go : Had some fun in the training room and let me tell you that Elena’s players really won’t like Backthrow dash j.MK/HK. In addition, when you throw Rolento with a backthrow in the corner you can dash j.HK.

Also made a setup from cross up HK ball after f.throw with cr.MK -> cr.HP -> HP Ball

Not sure if ppl know this found out today.

Range of upball (any strength) and ex upball is different

Ex upball can hit forward more compared to upball.

So for example ex upball despite its also 4 frames is able to punish Sagat blocked, c.lp xx hk ts while all the regular upball will whiff.

Also wanna mention the range where you can fadc or Rf upball is kinda nuts.

ch cr.mk, cr.hp RFC, cr.mk, cr.mk xx hp ball does 380/585. ch cr.mk, mp ball rfc, cr.mk cr.mk xx hp ball 400/535
