Gief I think is the easiest mash larait and 360 Both moves seem to take up the whole screen lariats seems to hit me when I do cr mk. I know I am over exaggerating.

i was playing in the arcade the other day and the guy i was play started spamming hadoukens and said “fuck this im going to be cheap now”
i was thinking in my head, if you think spamming hadoukens is cheap then you fail street fighter day 1
LOL completley wrong, against a better player. Blanka is better to beat someone good with, Gief is better at beating sucky players. Gief, sure you can mash out 360 but a good player will see that far a way and you’ll wiff and eat big punishment. Blanka has all sorts of nasty tricks and rediculous ultra cross ups, EX balls going through projectiles. Hes not an over powered character but hes really nasty.
I don’t play Blanka, but my best friend mains him. I play rushdown (Viper, Rufus and a fairly rushy boxer) and I’ve found like someone in the thread said that he’s impervious to rush downs, but if you switch it up to defense and punish mistakes then he’s not exactly free but you can get a good win most of the time.
That said I don’t hate Blanka and he is beatable, so I don’t see where the hate is coming from sans scrubs who find they can’t hadoken their way through.
blanka has really quick normals, a great crossup game, and is basically impossible to punish on wakeup
his specials are pretty solid, though not spectacular (overhead blanka ball is quite risky)
his super and ultra are pretty weak, IMO, not many opportunities to use them effectively
throw a bit of lag into the mix though, and dealing with blanka becomes a nightmare, even dealing with random ultras can be a pain
Dunno, to me Blanka has always been annoying. I never send hate mails, but I do get annoyed when I lose to a Blanka, since I’m a Gouken Player.
But yeah, Blanka to me is one of the most disliked character to fight against, also it doesn’t help him to be known for his overpowered SF2 grab. lol
No one ever says, ‘Nice Blanka!’ ‘Good shit!’ ‘Solid play man’ to me. I can play with great spacing, clever tricks, and excellent meter useage, but it gets no love.
I think it’s because Blanka wins by making the other player/character look bad, not by doing awesome flashy stuff.
I actually never get hate mail. Only praises like “Very nice Blanka” or “Gg, finally a non scrubby Blanka”…
And then i play TheMullah and he says “learn your char better”. Ouch lol.
yeah i get the same messages. but never harsh ones from well known players. everytime i message somebody that i lost to saying gg, they usually give me some tips.
Yeah he gave me a tip as well. But i’ve learned more from those matches against him then any word can do i think.
I also learned WHY people might hate Blanka so much, he’s tricky as hell to fight hehe.

How can anyone hate a character who’s entire game relies around a 50/50 ultra mixup?
I dunno, he’s pretty easy mode, but I wouldn’t say he’s overpowered. He’s just really poorly designed.
His 4 frame ultra really has to go though or at least remove the initial longer range hit. You should not be able to punish a -4 move so easily (given the lax reversal window) for a whopping 600 damage.
blanka is low tier and his ultra is one of the hardest to land in the game. the fact you jostle the idea of calling him overpowered shows you just don’t know.

blanka is not low tier. his ultra… is low tier. The character is not.
That being said how can anyone hate someone that looks so HAPPY in an EXPLORER OUTFIT! I mean seriously. The dude goes around getting called a beast and he decides the best way to fit in is to put on explorer gear and walk around the city yelling in a funny voice. Nice fellow that blanka is.
blanka isn’t that tricky to fight if you know your character well unless your playing as geif or a trashy tier character. Most people just don’t know what to do with their character to blanka on wake-up because they get so afraid of jumping in leading to getting hit by electricity spam on wake-up or they suck at countering blanka balls at mid-range. hell… almost every character in the game can punish or interrupt blanka ball with their ultra I think (not sure about vega…probably punish).
Ppl hate Blanka because he is pretty annoying and takes less skill than most characters.
I find this thread amusing for several reasons. The first is just that if you play ranked matches on a 360 game… don’t expect your rep to be anywhere near perfect. And the second is just that I play claw, and haaaaaate Blanka, but I wouldn’t even go as far as to block someone for using him… I could use all the practice against him I can. (Rushing him down works quite well O_o)
It can be used for more than the 50 50.
Blanka is mediocre IMO. He has some terrible matchups especially against other charge characters his ultra requires high level of difficulty to combo into but is very useful to punish blocks and whiffs. I think he’s overrated.
Liang- A character can be easy to use and still not easy to win with…
