I’m not big on the ads but how else do you expect the site to operate? Not worth getting ** that ** upset over.

Just to clarify a couple of points:
None of this was intentional so you can stop with the "OMG WIZ IS FORCING US TO REMOVE ADBLOCK"
It also isn’t Wiz’s fault since he doesn’t handle that part of the website.
It should be fixed soon, they are working on it. They are trying to fix this and the bot problem.

[*]It costs $20/year for a premium account; let’s estimate that 2% are premium members (since we don’t have a finite number without looking at the DB) - so 1,152 members

1,152 * $20 = $23,040 per year from Premium Members alone … with no incentives mind you (which is also why I canceled mine) - but I hear this is being worked on.

Unless they want to disclose “other expenses”, there’s no way external ads are needed to run this site.

You clearly have no clue how much hosting costs for a big site that gets millions of hits a day. Go play under a bridge.

You don’t have to stop Adblock and start it once you’re done with SRK. If you have Adblock, just tell it not to run on pages under the SRK domain.

You get SRK, SRK gets ad revenue, you eventually go ad-blind… everybody wins.

I wouldn’t mind ads every now and then, it’s the ones that auto play audio that really gets old. Fuck responsiblebynature.com, I’m hearing that goddamn ad with every page I go to.

It blends in well with the rest of the site.

:lol: @ $100 a year for hosting. Get that shared hosting nonsense out of here, this is a different class of website.

I mean, you can think the ads are invasive and detract from the site’s usability (because they are and they do) without spewing out ignorance.

^^^ As MUCH as I hate to say it, Read the rules bro. Besides, the problem has already since been fix anyway. I can now use Firefox with Adblock on this site again. So ahhhh. INB4CLOSURE?

I just clicked on this thread and got a blank white page. LOL
I get it all the time; main page, forum, everything.
Refreshing the page usually fixes it.

Also, ads that drive people to use adblock are not helping the site.

I think a lot of people just use AdBlock in general, not necessarily specific to SRK.

EDIT:

Although I do agree that annoying ads are counterproductive.
