Is this series still being made in Japan?
lol uhh i never read just a few chapters…i bought like a bunch of the trades and she never really changed as a person in them. she never ended up really killing any of her parents killers in the ones i have. like the one with a son.
:wtf: never said you only read a few chapters. i meant that if somebody only read a few chapters and couldnt get into it to read a few more chapters as it gets better and better. thats all.
Heh… necro
No character development??
That’s because Rin is still a kid(and a girl at that). As she meets, gets to know, and even befriend some of the Itto-ryu, she becomes even more confused about her ideals, goals, and the life she’s been leading up to now. When it comes down to it, she’s killing people, people who also have/had family/loved ones like Rin once did. She’s destroying families just like they destroyed hers, she’d be the same as them.
She wasn’t expecting that and it hit her hard. The same with Anotsu, she wasn’t expecting Anotsu to be such a relatively nice, laid back guy. She was probably thinking someone like Shira, that sick fuck. She’s even been getting kind of attached to him. These characters don’t just magically change, they go through experiences, obstacles, etc. Then through these experiences, slowly but surely, these characters grow and eventually meet their resolve.
Musolini put it nicely:
Also, On Silent Wings(Araya, the one with the son arc) is very early in the series. If that’s up to where you’ve read… yeah, a lot happens after that.
Basically…
This.
You probably don’t like it’s slower paced nature. I love it as you really get a feel of how much effort, thought, and skill was put into this. Hiroaki Samura really is amazing and one of the best.
Anyway, Volume 20 due out December 10th. :woot:
Yep. Hyakurin’s torture/rape scene will forever be embedded in my brain. It hurt just reading it.
I also loved the prison arc, it gave us a very clear view of the people pulling the strings of the Mugai-ryu. And the obsessed doctor was a real piece of work. The changes/hardships he goes through, and his ultimate break down were executed flawlessly.
Yeaah this is my fav manga.
Really though, is there anyone who can take on Makie? Though Manji has gone through some SERIOUS shit since their fight. Dreamsong was one of the most perfectly executed arcs I’ve ever seen. ManjixMakie fight was fucking flawless. Looking forward to a rematch haha.
personally i’m perfectly happy if Manji never, ever learns to beat Maki, because that way you know anything could happen when they fight. i’d feel like i were reading DBZ if Manji made a point to go SSJ just to beat Maki.
Yeah well it’s not like he suddenly powered up, I mean he really has been through a lot. Remember that Higa/Hanada/Uruma bloodbath at the pass? and all the other Itto-Ryu he’s fought? I think he’s gained a lot of experience. Makie hasn’t really been doing shit. I think he’d have a nice shot next time they meet.
Yeah, Blade is a favorite of mine as well. I’ve been reading it myself for like 6 years. I love Master Sorii, and I think it’s awesome how they’ve made him a recurring character.
You guys know the anime is fansubbed right? I think they’re up to the fourth one. Check animesuki.com
The anime is so god damn bad…
But that’s to be expected, no matter how hard you try, it’s impossible to have an acceptable adaptation of something like BoTI.
BoTI was my first manga, way back. I never read anything else for years.
Wait, there’s an anime?!
Yeah It started back in July. Like Rave said, 4 eps currently out, all subbed @ Animesuki.
What’s bad about the anime?
(I’m guessing that they’re just taking the general plots of the manga and cutting out details that make BotI any good)
The studio behind the show(Bee train) is pretty bad.
The whole show has like 3 different shades of (dark) color. For some reason the director thought it would be a good idea to make it a non-coherent mess? The show was all over the place from the get go. The music is awful, it really doesn’t fit.
Animation, the best animation was present in the show’s opening credits, a little 2~4sec animation of Makie owning, and I bet that was done by Production I.G. guys. The rest of the show is filled with awkward 2x frame loops. The much praised action of BoTI is gone. In it’s place, badly animated cop outs.
They even changed Manji around. Definitely not the Manji from the manga. And of course the dialog is just not the same. I dropped it on the second episode, and some of the cons are probably nitpicking more than anything. Overall the show feels very generic, and they plan to close everything up within 13 episodes.
one of the best manga’s ever made
It’s not that bad nor is it that great. So are they just callin quits after the 14 episodes for sure?
yeah, definitely one of the best mangas ever made. practically every artist in japan sucks in comparison to god tier hiroaki samura, everyone should learn something from him instead of running around drawing gigantic eyeballs and 14-year-old girls with fully developed breasts teehee
unfortunately, the blade of the immortal anime could not be any more disappointing. i was hoping that it wouldn’t follow some 13 episode format, that hiroaki samura would actively participate in it, that the animation would be good, that the music would be fitting, and that it would stick closely to the original material. so far the anime has not managed to do any of these things and therefore it sucks shit, ggs.
the only good thing about the anime (because it is so hilariously bad and funny) is the next episode preview thing where they would have little red lines zoom past the screen while horrific wtfisthisshit music is playing in the background
13 episodes and yep, pretty sure it’s 13. Why would you want a second season of this anyway haha.
Yeah, Samura is second to none.
Did you see the way they portrayed the “special moves” like the one Manji uses to kill the hoodlum that chopped Machi to pieces? haha that was the corniest shit ever.
which one do you mean. i only remember manji being chopped to pieces from the older chapters by maki and by the guy who was with his 2 other cornier friends. im guessing the second one, he was a bad ass in the manga. fucking chopped manji to bits and kept on going after all those poisoned darts. even went as far as going on with nothing to fight with but his teeth, thats the shit. good material like this has always been scarce, but nowadayz its damn near dead.
p.s. talking bout manga, gave up one anime after 3 or 4 eps.
I wanted to see that world in motion even if it is just mediocre.
No no I meant Machi, his dead sister. And I meant special moves as in this: http://i35.tinypic.com/e6orrn.jpg it was weird as fuck in the anime, it was cheesy.
Also, yeah, the guy who still fought with his teeth was Higa, that whole fight was badass. They really messed manji up. It was a bloodbath
Ah I see, no harm in that.
I stopped watching the anime after the second episode. Part of what’s wrong is the color palette and the lack of animation, ironically enough. It feels like none of the characters really move; it feels like stillshots with minor mouth animation 90% of the time. Compare that to Code Geass or Macross Frontier, where even when the characters are talking, there’s stuff/people moving all over the place.
That said, I’m aching for Manji to get out of the manga prison arc. It’s pretty boring.
