I have to admit, when I read watchmen, I didn’t really read the BF parts. :-/
Too bad. There’s information in Tales Of The Black Freighter that is vital to understanding what’s going on in the plot, including the ending.
Of course, if it doesn’t wind up in the film itself, it will be typical of other subtle but important stuff that will most likely be getting the chop. See V For Vendetta for further reference.
I just don’t like how people think they need to make a movie adaptation of every comic book. Watchmen is WAAAAAATCHMEN!!!11 because of what it does for the actual art of comics storytelling, not just because it has a cool plot. WAAAAAATCHMEN!!!1 basically reinvented the wheel. Unless the Watchmen movie can reinvent the major motion picture, it’s a waste of time. There’s no need to see the superficial elements of the story reproduced on the big screen.
But WAAAATCHMEN!!! is also a big seller and a very prominent title, and both of those things point to big $$$ for studio heads. So they’re going to shit out a movie of the same title if it kills them.
Serious? You think it can make money? I had no idea comics were such viable cash cows. I’m deeply impressed by your insight. I… I think I have some things to mull over.

unfortunately that is how they think. I wouldnt be surprised that each member of the avengers (new, mighty, or the original) is going to have there own or appeared in a film. So far we have 3 spiderman movies, upcoming iron man, upcoming luke cage, upcoming wolverine 4, 1 hulk and another upcoming, thor is “supposed” to have one.
I am glad that I do not need to explain it to you any further. Now, let’s all get drunk and play ping pong.
