Yeah, last episode was hilarious. There were a metric ton of references, some of which I feel slow for not immediately getting, like the Eartha K.I.T.T. and the fact that the redneck was a parody of Speedy Racer between being named Racer Rex–say it quickly–and having a damn Confederate flag as his uniform. Immediately got the Wu Tang, Christine and racist references though.
The show’s a lot better than I thought it would be despite the fact that I’ve only been watching it every other week. I also feel better watching it after finding out the movie was only from 2010 and only done in a parody of the Blaxploitation style rather than being that old. Not that I would have had a problem with it being old, it just would have felt more awkward to catch up.
I generally feel the cartoon has been funnier than the movie was, but I suppose that’s not really a fair assessment, especially since you can generally get away with a lot more active craziness in animation than a live action movie, even if you have a bunch of CGI and a really high budget…which that movie didn’t. Not that it needed to.
Still, it was nice seeing Salli Richardson-Whitfield in the live action.
(Aside: Holy shit! She’s Eliza from Gargoyles too!? No wonder her voice always sounded so familiar to me when I began watching Eureka. Ugh. I feel like even more of an idiot than usual.)
They might show back up considering they didn’t die horribly like the Japanese despite Black Dynamite firing at them.

I literally had to rewind the episode as soon as that happened just to be sure I wasn’t hallucinating something so audacious despite everything else that happened in that episode.
I wonder if these episodes are getting shown out of order or is Dennis Flynn officially still alive?
