Black background and white font is not Healthy for the eyes

I know everyone wants to be the cool kid with the black background and the white/yellow/pink font but seriously it is harmful, the main page, the news and the comments for said news are all like this and reading it tires the eyes very fast.

There are a ton of sites and blogs with this ugly layout, we have all seen one and we all know that awful feeling of reading pages of bright font and dark background.

Forum is great with white BG, and blue or black font and the new more stylish and organized look, have the rest be the same, no need to try and be cool admins, seriously.

I agree as well. I’m loving the new forums but the new front page is terrible. black backgrounds & white text doesn’t work with large bodies of text…

bottom left below skin chooser, there is a srk light you can pick from.

still would be a good idea to have a more friendly default, especially if its that simple for you as well, first timers wont bother looking for options, if they dont like it they leave, ive done so on many sites.

The style chooser doesn’t work.

I’ve tried going into preferences and changing it 3 times then re-loading the page and it doesn’t change anything. This is literally the ONLY thing I dislike about this website, it’s awesome otherwise.

White should be default.

Yeah it says it is the default and i’ve made sure that’s selected, but the front page is still painful.

I’m gonna try it using a different browser but if it’s always like this with google chrome then i guess that’s less than optimal.

Edit: just tested firefox and windows explorer, in all it says white is default but actually it’s always greyish black on the front page with white text. The forum page is white with black text regardless of what choice I pick (light or dark)

I’ve used the style chooser With Fire Fox and it actually changes the background to blaxk with white text.

Change the font, Times New Roman is yawnsville.

Having the same problem: front page has black background and white/gray text and forum has white background and black text. Using SRK Light.

I’m working on an alternate theme for the front page. Will announce when it’s complete.

Forget the colours, what’s with the gay “iPhone friendly” layout that every website seems to be adopting now?(protip: nobody likes it). There wasn’t anything wrong with having YouTube links on the front page… unless you’re on a crappy smartphone.

And Times New Roman for the forums, seriously? Was the site designer 14 years old?

same here, my original suggestion was not regarding the forum because i get the feeling admin thought i was referring to the forum, i know that can be changed and default is white, i am talking about the MAIN SITE where the news are.

Yup. I agree with the comments here as well. Always had a distaste for light fonts on dark backgrounds. Can’t wait for the new theme, Kineda!

maybe they’re going green? they say that having a black background consumes far less electricity…hence blackle.com
