Was this an option select at 1:35 of this video? 6c0zztWgzzA&feature=relmfu]YouTube - Andre (Dictator) vs Daigo (Ryu) Foney Match 2/2 @ Seasons’ Beatings 4. If it is can someone explain to me how to do it? and when is a good time to go for it?. Also Can someone explain to me how to do the bison option select in this video at 1:32?.

Never mind I figured it out.

the 1:35 andre vs daigo, that’s not a real option select. he did a really early c.mp to bait daigo into wakeup attacking and then he did ultra.

you know it’s not a real option select because the option selected move (in this case, ultra) always only comes out if the opponent gains invincibility of some sort, causing your first attack to whiff, and thus the option select to come out. ie. c.lp, close st.lp+hk. if they block, you get c.lp, and close st.lp. if they try to backdash after your c.lp, they will get hit by st.hk because they were invincible for a second and then the option selected move comes out

the 1:32 one, like you probably figured out, though, is a standard option select. U2 came out because viper did ex seismo and got invincible

I’ve come back to Bison after not playing any SSF4 in over 2 months.

My offense is weak, but there are good threads on that, which I have been checking.

My defense is absolutely terrible.
If opponents jump in at an awkward angle (like Dudley) so that Stand HK/Crouch HP won’t hit, what can I do as reliable anti-air?
Overall, can I please get some overall tips on how to play Bison when defending against opponents that have solid offense? (Akuma, Dudley, etc)

Thanks in advance.

Hey Bison pro’s  I’m a long term Gen player, started expanding into other chars, picked up Bison and wondered if anyone can give me some good advice, tips or sparring sessions. Thanks you sexy eggs.

@ Endless:
If an opponent jumps in and you won’t be able to hit them with s.HK, c.HP or close s.HP, the best thing to do is usually block. If you react quickly enough, you can jump forward MP/HP or neutral jump MK. A less safe option is EX Psycho Crusher, and you can always teleport back to reset(unless you’re in the corner, of course).

@SylverWereWolf:
Check the first post of this thread, some really useful links in there.
And you can add me if you want(Hartendief), I’m from the Netherlands so the connection should be alright; I’m not that good though.

Your Bison squished me lol I enjoyed playing you, I was paying attention as best I could and I think I just need to find a few BnB’s and keep at them, what do you use as a vertical AA? I know the standing HK is really good but when people are literally ontop on your face (wahey! hehe) what is the best option in your opinion?

If your opponent is reasonably close and they jump in, you can dash under them and start your offense. But in most cases it always best to block.

Yeah good games, pretty even I’d say(except for that perfect…(A))
As I said in my previous post, if someone is jumping in at you at a weird angle, your best option is to block. You could try to hit them with jump forward MP, or neutral jump MK, but blocking is a much safer option.
I look forward to playing you again!

Haha, yeah you got me fair and square  I’d be happy to play you again and assimilate some of your combo’s and playstyles. I just ask because I hate letting people jump in for free. Such a bad thing to let someone do :frowning:

How exactly does the EX psycho crusher’s invincibility work? I can use it to go through EX fireballs, but then when I reach the opponent it I don’t do damage.

Think of EX-PC as a 2-hit fireball.

When he’s fully horizontal, it will only hit once through normal fireballs, and it won’t hit at all through 2-hit fireballs. The beginning is completely invincible though.

Any projectile with more than 2-hits will beat EX-PC.

Ah ok. Which is better to go through fireball at mid-to-close range then? ExPC has enough invincibility to go through ryu’s ultra. I think knee press has less invincibility.

The difference in invincibility is a single frame. Ex.PC has 13, Ex.SK has 12.

Ex.SK is better at mid range. At his range you can time your Ex.SK to go through fireballs and hit your opponent. Ex.SK has a faster travel speed but obviously less range than Ex.PC. Its not safe on block.

Ex.PC is technically classified as projectile (like an ex.fireball it hits twice) itself hence the reason it absorbs up to two fireballs. Each fireball it negates cost you one of your 2 hits.

Once Ex.PC is active it will always nagate fireballs that hit Bison from the front. This is because Bison has projectile invincibility at the front end of his hitbox.
In some rare cases fireballs can go through Bison during the invincible start up and tag the rear end of Ex.PC.

At full screen range it can be safe on block and even offer frame advantage to Bison.

Sagat players love to get in close with EX tiger knee after which there is, for most intents and purposes, zero frame advantage for either character.
He then has two main options: throw or uppercut

My question is what do you like to do after blocking (with/without EX meter)?

Crouch Tech is usually a good solution.
If you see Sagat has 2 bars, he will think he can try a TU. Well, teleport back or Headpress EX would make TU whiff (impossible fadc) and be heavily punished

I will late crouch tech until the opponent can prove to me that he knows how to beat it.

Late crouch tech will “beat” both options. If he’s dps, you block, if he throws, you tech. To beat this, Sagat can delay his dp slightly, but then your early throw or short would have caught him.

If he always something after a neutral reset, then just reversal. Mind games.

OMG!!! did anyone see ryry’s reverse ocv with x-factor magneto against jestor, that shit was clutch

Tell that to Sagat’s high tiger.

I’ve tried to sharpen up my Bison a LITTLE more after playing Deuslucas, does anyone fancy a spar? Give me some heavy criticism on what I’m doing wrong and what I can do to improve please? After playing Bison now and again I have decided that his s.HK is sent from the devil himself as some sort of soul based deal. It is just far too good haha.
