the difference is you can jumpin on abel and neutral jump with way less fear against Abel, and Geif’s command grab is easier to spam I think it comes out quicker. If Gief gets a knockdown and you have no meter there is a good chance of loosing half of your life bar or more, Gief can punish all teleports with EX greenhand. EX greenhand>EX COD for sure. Trade lariat>EX GH big damage, AAd c.hp>FS is only medium damage not very scary until Abel has ultra. Gief can make you guess with everyjumpin if you are gonna get ultra’d and make you eat alot of lariats trying to avoid ultra. Lariat destroys PC and SK. Geif can play footsies really well actually IMO better than abel, his s.mp stuffs Bison’s s.hk and has pretty good reach. Gief’s roundhouse also has pretty good priority and on block puts him in SPD range(I guess Abel’s f+mk into Tornado throw is similar but easier to react to or they have to do alot of extra conditioning to land it IMO). Maybe all this is because I know the Abel matchup like the back of my hand and the Gief match only so so… but, I would say those are some good reasons why the Gief matchup is trickier than the Abel matchup.
^ agreed. much more detailed account of what i was trying to say.
Dudley’s Cross counter won’t hit bison’s headstomp.
/\ Depends on where you land on Dudley. EX Headpress has more chance of not being hit.
Sorry to bother you guys, but anybody that knows Japanese have a list of Japanese Dictator Grand Masters? I was in the Shibuya Shinjuku Sportsland (for free play) and saw one today (~123k bp). I don’t remember his name (plus I can’t read Japanese), but I think it had 7-8 characters and like 3rd from the end was a square shaped character. Haha, sorry that’s not really helpful, but anyway- if anybody has a list that’d be truly helpful. I google searched it, but could not find anything. Thanks!
Sounds like Shungoku Neurosis.
EDIT: For reference, here’s a video of Neurosis, complete with square shaped character screen name:
I think there’s only like a handful of Bison’s that are over the 100K BP mark, which is pretty much TUC, Kuma, and Neurosis.
To the guy that was saying you can Devils reverse on abel to get out of mix ups, you are playing hack able’s. Abel can punish devils reverse with both ultras and can dash block, dash+ mk+ dash into punish or ex wheel kick you.
Also abel can falling sky Ultra 2 for free. Stick with ultra one.
About ultra choice, find a better argument please. U2 is not called punisher for nothing, it should not be used in a situation where the opponent can anti-air you… Even if using it in resets or ambiguous meaty, skyfall will be beaten.
My point is that an abel can mash out falling sky on ambiguous meaty PP and catch you.
Then the PP is not meaty. Falling sky has a long enough startup, which is not invincible.
Meaty means active on the first vulnerable frame of the opponent’s wakeup/reset. The only solutions are an invincible move (backdash qualifies), a move active on the first frame (yea UAB !) or a block. Falling sky is neither.
Even ex version has a 6 frames startup, which is a huge window for meaty attempts.
Well this is one I had vs a medicore Guile. I am just laughing at the inputs, in my case I am not aware I am pressing em like that, perhaps the sanwa buttons are a bit too sensitive. Anyways I just like how I ended round 2.

You link to fast, (p,p,k,p in 1/2 second) so I’m guessing you miss links, alot. slow the links down and you will hit more, get them into a rythem.
Also that end link you should of used, mk > m sk not lk, l sk, it would of done more dmg
Yeh both the imputs looked crazy, esp the guile spamming p’s all kick …etc lol he’s obviosly prit new
Ah thanks. Well it’s definitely not TUC or Kuma. There names (youtube’d) look nothing like what I saw.
Oh wow. I got to watch Neurosis play? Awesome. That name looks about right although I thought the first character was a bit rounder (shows my knowledge of the Japanese alphabet haha). Arigato for the info. I wish I could’ve recorded video, but I wasn’t sure if it’s allowed here. Pretty nice tricks though. Neurosis likes the frame traps.
Sometimes I miss links and yeah I should be using mk instead of lk but I can’t seem to land that one consistently so I use lk which I can at least land it at least 80% of the time. Ya see I have no rhythm to speak of so its amazing I can hit links to begin with lol.
Honestly though as crazy as the inputs seem no idea why it looks that way I could swear I don’t press them like that I do manage to land links fairly well.
Edit: Found out what might have something to do with it, it seems that yes the sanwa buttons on my te stick are too sensitive, I came from being a pad user for years and as such I actually press the buttons hard, I don’t tap or piano the inputs, went into training mode to trying taping the inputs out, inputs might be less spammy but it would take a lot of work for me to actually get anything working the way I want.
Some casuals from last monday. My links suck from not playing sf4 for a 4-5 months, ill get them back down. Any critiques are welcome!
