Bison Video Thread - Purple Fist of Death (ver. 2.1)

Played PhatSaqs a bit ago think hes maining guy now hes not bad.

Hey if it works, I say keep doing it.

Kuma! Thanks for posting. Also, I like that he has a bear(Kuma) for his icon. Also HARITSUKA AN is TUC I think.

Yeah Tyrone I had to start playing more patiently…I used to play WAY too recklessly and got exposed by some good players in Philly. Ill post these vids one more time in case anyone missed it and wanted to comment:

Gaaadamn!

Serious level-up right there!!

against guile- nice job. i dont think the guy knew how to play the matchup though. looks like he was being pressured the whole game which makes no sense. good job taking it to him though. i like the opening round moves, i would have done the same, but he could have probably punished if he were a bit more prepared. also you went for jump in fierce, st.fierce, cr.short xx scissors but you could have just done st.fierce xx rh scissors for more damage and its easy too. also the super miss, it’s understandable for sure but you could have just done st.close fierce xx rh scissors to super for that guaranteed hit.

against honda- surprised at his lack of oki pressure. anyways, you played the matchup just fine and how it should be played. around 1:30, just a comment on footsies. im not claiming to be an expert on the subject by any means and my footsies are average at best, but if frame data has anything to say regarding footsies, it’s that sometimes maybe playing good footsies is not so much poking well but blocking well. bison is at minus something on block for st.far forward. unless you hit with its tip and are at that optimal spacing i’d probably avoid pushing buttons. in your case trading was in your favor since, at least in my experience, blocking a buttslam can be the worst thing ever aside from being jumped in on or thrown/swept against honda. on the other hand after a blocked cr.mp or a blocked st.close mk i will almost always surely push another button since you’re at plus frames.

against sagat- again, opening round you could have just cancelled into rh scissors. good guess and though i do the same sometimes most sagat’s here and most players in general do nothing at the start of the round and are more or less trying to analyze you the first match, so i try and play it a bit more safe and minimize the risk considering that me might be a step ahead. a safer option would probably be empty DR. you might get thrown like I do, haha, but it’d likely end up in a tech. safer than a jump in.

you jumped in a lot against him, maybe it was because of the likelihood of a trade in your favor? either way i just wouldn’t play the matchup that way. one thing im learning though is that HS follow ups to corner pressure is best done after you’ve laid a few chip scissors or pressure strings on them because you’re totally giving up the momentum by flying to the other side of the screen. I’m always forced to fly across the screen because anything else, even landing mid-screen can be punished (happening all too often lately…first time i was punished for flying mid-screen i WTF’d pretty hard). so if my HS is blocked i’m giving up a lot of work. nice links to end the round though. i’d recommend practicing ultra buffering as that could have easily cost you the round if the sagat punished properly.

second round you took a really big risk. he didn’t seem like a dumb player and he was definitely not going to repeat the risk of the first round. if he just blocked that was a free combo into uppercut. i’d refrain from doing stuff like at 1:42 against sagat. it’s a better idea to do it on reaction to a neutral jump so it’s more difficult for them to reversal DP if you time it so that the purple fist hits when they are landing. a good example of this is when jeron played evil rashahan’s gen. i feel like you gave up the corner too easily after that. at least some form of feinting would have been better than nothing, especially since he had super. if i were him i’d be itching to FADC an uppercut. HS at 1:49 was pretty ballsy. the FA should have been followed by a PPP teleport considering 1.) you hadn’t done that to him yet to test the waters, 2.)he had a lot of meter and ultra.

anyways there wasn’t anything glaring to critique, so i just nitpicked. overall good stuff, the only thing is that i think you played the sagat matchup with way too many risks in the wrong situations. the only risks i think you should have taken were when you had him cornered. you’re pushing your advantage there, whereas jumping in mid-screen is just pushing your luck. then again you could argue that a bad guess mid-screen means you’re just going to be on the receiving end of the pressure with space behind you to escape, whereas a bad guess when you’ve cornered someone is not only losing momentum but health.

i dunno what’s the best answer but it just always seems like the worst thing you can do is just give up the corner. sometimes i ‘camp’ the corner when i’m not sure what to do or how to read my opponent and just crouch at cr.fierce range and get ready to punish stupid random shit or attempts to jump out because at least i have a plan. when other up close and personal pressure options are questionable or im not exactly sure what to do. i had a ryu player do three lp DP’s in a row when i did this to him, lol.

^^ Thank you very much.

I was playing at my freinds house trying to get him some achievments and beat Haunts on the way to getting him the tenpeat achievement. I was playing on a reg xbl controller so I fail at just about every combo.

Edit: These are some more vids of me just trying to get a little practice in for the weekend. The first video is against the first Ibuki I’v played that could actually vortex with her, I was trying to bait counter hits alot and see if she was trying to mash out and DPs.(but she wasn’t). She stuck came back for a rematch but when I almost perfected her twice the player rage quit and I didn’t get the second vid.

Second is the first decent Guile I’v come across online in super, and I clutch the second round too, so its a pretty good fight.(There was some lag which is why I got hit by alot of things, cause I was trying to EX SK and PC).

I got sound going but its bad quality, that is why I’v been playing gay ass youtube music. But idk you guys tell me if you like it better with shitty sound, no sound, or youtube music? I mean you guys are the only reason I post them for, so tell me what you think?

Haha, not a terribly bad idea. Capping random Bison matches off New Replays.

One question though, would you guys prefer seeing input information or no? o_O

Where exactly?
Note the sarcasm.
Just look at the last video of the Bison fighting the Makoto, overall that quality on the vids.

Haha I didn’t look at the videos but I just saw random XBL/PSN tags and I’m like okay cool someone is capping New Replays I suppose.

NYC tournament, some new characters being used. Good to see what people have come up with so far with new match ups and refreshing old ones.

Assuming of course the stream ever works today.
