i hate all those def-crouch-carch-lamer-chars -.-

plz help me out…thanks guys

A cool strat is to try and focus attack the devil’s reverse. I learned it from this video at iplaywinner.com. Land it a couple times and they start changing up their game.

Yes yes yes.

As with everything, though, be careful about getting too predictable with that. If Bison uses the EX version of his punch on his way down from the DR, it will hit twice and break your focus. That linked post was from almost ten months ago, and game has matured a ton since then.

I think nowadays people would try and delay their focus, so that Bison can’t easily react and switch to EX for that occasion. Basically you’re forcing him to guess, so he’s using–and thus risking a waste of–one stock for potentially little gain: either you just block or he gets two puny hits on you, wheeee. (He does get a knockdown, though.)

Optimally, over the course of a game, you can dissuade Bison from trying to hit you with his DR anymore, and so you’ve taken away one of his tools. Well, that or you feed him a shitload of damage for being stubborn!

Have anyone fought a turbo using Bison yet? I did and it was pretty interesting.

Focus his head stomps… Depending on what he does next either try to crumple him, backdash, forward dash, or cancel and block.

Also practice you C.hp timing because it can work.

Against his godlike pokes, counter with C.mk … you won’t really make him scared unless you can buffer a srk into it.

I can’t c.hp bison either… At best, it trades, at worst I lose completely. How is it supposed to work? videos? I can’t focus that shit either, it takes off waaay too much damage. It seems to take more damage from trying to focus than if I’d just let him hit me to begin with.

Sometimes, I can punish poorly spaced slides with c.lk xx ex tatsu, but other times i fly over his head completely… not even sure how that works.

But have you fought a TURBO BUTTON using Bison? I did and it was crazy! I couldnt stop laughing at it either.

One of best ways to counter the head stomp is jumping backwards MK in the air. Golden .

That wont work online A LOT of times, it is like trying to kick Vega out of air, the online delay/lag doesnt really tell you where they “actually” are and you end up eating or trading. Just block it or focus it. Sometimes you can Block and then dash foward (watch out for reverse) which slowly moves you in on Bison and most Bisons “online” dont like being cornered.

But the jump back jab is a good habit to get into for the off chances you have a decent connection or are playing offline!

Can’t his headstomp miraculously beat out your jump attacks though? Could be entirely wrong on that one, but I thought that was a common complaint about the headstomp.

Regardless, I also had all kinds of trouble with this matchup not too long ago. I use focus to beat out the headstomp. c.hp is just too risky to use as a primary AA considering his devil reverse beats it outright, though it couldn’t hurt to stick a few out there to try and keep him grounded. c.mk XX sho is somthing that needs to happen early and often, that combined with st.roundhouse can scare him out of playing footsies with you, or at least deter it to some degree.

Headstomp CANT beat ANY move that is jumping back… Even an empty jump back… You can even dash foward (time this right) and he will just land behind you. Or you can just walk back and dash back(time this too) and he will land in front of you… Easy stuff people. Focus it even… You can even jump foward and MP… (It works if you jump SIGNIFICANTLY before Bison jumps)

If you can predict a headstomp then jump back and hit mk. Works like a charm. Even in the lag from my personal experience.

Cr.Mk into SRK is golden against everyone, but especially a Bison who spams his S.Hk and S.Mk.

I tend to trade when trying to jump attack his head stomps, if they’re EX it’ll beat you clean :frowning:

seems to only work if you jump before bison does :frowning:

I usually just block the headstomp, then c.HP the devil’s reverse. the c.HP beats it clean, even the EX version

please, don’t complain about headstomp.
a simple backdash then punish will do with any character.

Walk forwards for headstomp or DR. If he DR’s, cr.hp it IIRC. If he does headstomp, you walked out of the way, now you get stand hp into huge combo. If he does gimmick DR looks like headstomp -> throw, stand hp still works into combo.

Mostly crouch mk is the whole match, also strong in certain spots of his rushdown. If you can FADC into big combo out of it, you are well on your way to turning this into one of sakura’s good matchups.

You can also throw alot of fireballs unless the bison realizes he can reaction punish.

Dashing backwards is your friend against stomp-happy Bisons. Dash back when he stomps and be prepared to do your BnB combo. Focus attack and BnB combo if it’s a normal Devil Reverse.

Be very careful at jumping into Bison. As a Bison player, I would intercept with either J. MP > S. HK > Dash > Throw, J. MPx2 > Ultra, or EX Stomp > EX Skull Diver. Bison has many AA options but has no reliable AA attack.

He has two main pokes, his most notable one is his S. HK which is damaging, has fast recovery, and can be used as an AA. His S. MK is similar to his S. HK but it sacrifices damage and AA ability for more horizontal range.

A pressured Bison will most likely attempt to EX Psycho Crusher out of range.

He is immune to your ultra when performing a scissor kick unless he is recovering from his heavy scissor kick.

Bison has a very fast dash and can surprise you with a dash > throw.

bah, i got demolished this morning by scissor kicks… lk xx scissor kicks * ?

What can you do then? blocking just invites more kicks, ex shouoken only works once or twice and I never get a chance to build the meter back… I get pushed to the corner pretty quickly and start trying shit like jump back + normal… lk and mk both whiffed… I didn’t get a chance to try any other normals, rounds end quickly for me under that kind of pressure =\

From fighting against Dez26’s sakura there’s a few things I noticed.
Sak’s cr. lk comes out faster than Bison’s. If you fight against a Bison that loves to spam lk to hit confirm into lk knee press, interupt him with a cr. lk of your own.
Sak’s cr.hp will beat out anything Bison has to cross her up or jump in at her. The best he can do is jump in fierce and that trades in Sak’s favor.
Once you get in lose against Bison with your tatsu loops (I’m sorry, I don’t play Sak and don’t know the move names), you can contain him to the corner fairly well. Just watch out for ex crusher which he’ll most likely use to get out of the corner.
His st.RH beats yours in terms of range but if you notice the bison you play against isn’t perfectly in control of footsies, use st. RH against him, you can probably catch him off guard.

Now I’m not a pro bison, in fact I rather suck. But these are just things I noticed Dez26 used fairly well against me.

I main Bison and I’m pretty good IMO. So if any one here on xbox sent me an invite and we can practice your match-up. I play a variety of characters so hit me up and I’ll help any one who wants help. Remember reading about this stuff is 5% of your game the other 95% is playing.

That’s my problem, I’ve been trying to c.HP the headstomp part… this, plus the knowledge that my c.lk is faster than his is what I’m taking into my next bison match :nunchuck:
