How do you guys beat survival on hard? I’ve lost so many times around rounds 30-40 so many times. Why couldn’t they have made colors unlockable from playing online?
Chain doesn’t work from max range and does around 246 to 255 dmg.
From long/max range, you’re better off doing:
- sHK (cc), fdash, Killing Head – 300 dmg, 396 stun
- sHK (cc), fdash, cMP xx Bullhead/Bullhorn – 287 dmg, 448 stun
It doesn’t work from max range? I thought I tested it. You might be able to walk forward and do it. Anyway, I wouldn’t be using it for damage or stun. I’d be doing it for potential setup (light chain). Medium chain is probably not worth it because your other options are better and push them away anyway.

Computer doesn’t jump out of blocked standing MP bull revenger.
You can get them to block the MP on their wakeup and then revenger. Works against most of the cast except…like…I don’t remember, Ken?
So if Birdie has absolutely nothing he can do against reversals via landing from CrMP, characters with reversals(especially meterless) will always be at an advantage still? You still have to respect that reversal, so you will likely end up blocking their strings and end up still under pressure despite successfully predicting their jump-in?
Blocking after CrMP just feels so freaking horrible, especially when the go for the grab.

You have to take risk/reward into account and make them respect or fear the position they’re in. Once they realize how much dmg you can do, they won’t do the actions you mentioned as often.

If you walk backwards at the end or last moment, then you’ll be able to bait and block reversal DPs, jabs and make their throws whiff.
– If they whiff throw, you can whiff punish this.
– If they DP, you get Vmeter (from crush counter), corner carry, and 300 to 689 dmg, depending the resources and position.
– If they do a low, you won’t block this. This is an issue if you’re dealing with a character who can actually convert well off of this. -
You downback and block instead. You get a similar situation as before with a couple of changes:
– If they do a low or just any attack, you’ll block it and lose pressure
– If they do wakeup throw, you might get thrown, depending if you did delay throw tech or not. -
You press sHK and meaty instead:
– if they reversal DP, you take around 130 dmg and they’re out of pressure
– If they press a reversal button, you get around 300 to 630 dmg, depending the resources and position.
– If they block, you’re + on block and you can do another offensive action like command throw or a light.
– If they hold up or don’t block, you can hitconfirm off of this with any light (or sMP depending how meaty the sHK is)
What is birdie’s wake up jab frames?? Because how the fk does he beat out my throw or s mp upon wakeup with that jab. Mass of his body and arm dictates it should be slower than tiny ryu. Please advise…
@ParryThis - I’m afraid to say that his jab is a lazy 5 frames, crouching or standing. His LKs are no faster than 4 frames either. If you’re having your otherwise completely legit wakeup meaties beaten by Birdie jabs, unless there’s some other quirk I don’t know to his wakeup, you’re just timing it wrong.
Of course, if you’re having ANY meaties beaten by ANY non-invincible attack, you’re timing it wrong or your setup wasn’t airtight in the first place. Buuuut, Birdie does have a big and shifting hitbox, so could be there’s something weird going on.

Bad timing was probably the culprit. Thanks for the info.
This is prolly a silly question but does birdies killing head cmnd grab have different ranges? It looks like it doesnt but i seem to wiff hp killing head after a tick. Although im meh at this game so who knows.

Yeah. LP has the most range, HP the least. MP is in the middle.
Yeah and EX has slightly longer than LP range. I think the difference is significant enough to play around with.
Any tips for beating survival mode hard/hell with birdie?
During V-Trigger using specials takes off the V-Trigger timer. I think like 4-5 Bullheads will end the bar.
Are there any specials he has that dont take from his V-Trigger timer?

Im pretty sure the specials that dont turn him red(killing head. Revenger) dont take the vtrigger timer
KOG is playing birdie, anyone knows his id figther?
When talking about Birdie’s hit confirms. One that pops up all the time is cr.lk, st.lp. Does it have some advantage over other hit confirms that I am not seeing or what’s going on? I use myself cr.lk, st.lk or st.lk, st.lk. Light kicks have better frames than their punch equivalent. So why are punches still preferred?

crLK, sLP doesn’t work.
sLK, sLP does work however. I don’t use it either that often, but sLP is easier to cancel into bullhead compared to slk.
Cancelling into bullhead from slk is harder to do because u need to do it faster and if u do it too fast, u can even get negative edge lk chain.
Also, LP can combo into MP bullhead in VT for great damage.
Question, does Birdie have any oki setups after EX head butt in corner?
Questions:
-
What do you recommend a birdie player on focusing on when they play the game? I keep getting headaches during my matches because i don’t know when to go in or when to play the defensive footsie game.
-
What is the best option to do on someone’s wakeup? I notice that when i play the game i get a knockdown and don’t know how to keep the pressure up in the matches. Especially when i think that my opponent might dp me when he wakes up as an reversal.
-
What is the exact use of his standing roundhouse? I tend to get blown up when i stick it out and they jump in for free.
-
What is the use of heavy bullhead? This move doesn’t cancel from anything and it has no armor besides in v-trigger. It has a lot of start-up too.
-
Any way to practice how to see the moments when you can gamble to go for a command grab?
-
What drove you guys to play him? I just happen to see that he was street fighter alpha and liked his design from that game.
