And we all know what happened to sentinel right?
Sentinel, even in UMVC3, is still one of the best characters to have on one’s team due to his amazing supers and assist. The fact that he was nerfed is a good thing, because having that much utility + the most health in the game is gigantic overkill. That much health forced opponents to have to waste a ton of meter just to take him out of play, which gave too much incentive to put the robot on your team.
Compiling information on changes of the latest beta build (from january).
Birdie Beta 3 -> Beta 4
- cHK and CA: +10 dmg
- normal throws: from 150 to 200 stun
- f+HK (overhead): 2f less minus on block
- s.LP hitbox got extended, u can connect it from farther away
- s.LK: from +5 to +6 on hit.
- s.LK gained an extra hurtbox while active (easier to get stuffed)
- s.MK gained an extra hurtbox at the end of its recovery. The hurtboxes also stay 2 frames longer (easier to get whiff punished)
- c.LP hitboxes are wider but do not reach further. Hurtboxes are also adjusted, it’s less punishable to low attacks, but more punishable to high attacks.
- c.MK hurtboxes on recovery stay 3 frames longer (easier to get whiffpunished)
- j.MK hurtboxes got extended downwards. (easier to get anti aired)
- Armor duration on 6HP lasts a couple of frames longer
- Armor duration on VT EX Bullhead lasts longer. Now it stays until all 3 hits are done (instead of 2 hits). Now u can punish fireballs from farther away.
- Armor on VT L, M and H bullhead starts and ends 1 frame sooner.
- Vreversal: from -3 to -2 on block.
Lol that gif. Armor shifting 1 frame sooner on VT normal bullheads isn’t that mind blowing actually.
It doesn’t start on frame 1 like EX bullhead (cant use it as a reversal), but you might be able to go through max range c.MK xx hado or other attacks that aren’t true blockstring.
However, because the armor also ends 1 frame sooner, it’s a bit trickier to use it to go through fireballs.
ahh… In my head for some reason I read that as frame 1 armor. I always ran into armor issues towards the beginning so I would gladly trade the frame at the end. You are right not as cool as 1st frame armor.
guys what do u think about this combo: st.lp,ex bullhead* VT ,cr.HP ,bullhorn ? LPN was using this combo during Cap Com cup…
Its a 5f punish for one meter that leaves you in V-trigger and does good damage. Hard to tell if its optimised but given the range on s.lp I think its probably quite useful. I guess situationally it just depends on what you want to be using that 1 bar of meter for.
It’s pretty decent as dmg and a corner carry. It’s also his only way to safely go into VT off of a buffered jab.

I cant get it to work on beta 2. Ex bull head (1 hit) vt, cr.hp x bullhorn. Bullhorn whiffs midscreen. Works in the corner.
Tips?
EX Bullhead works differently in Beta 2.
In Beta 1 and Beta 3 it doesn’t create as much pushback, you can even link s.MP after it and keep the opponent standing (you can’t link s.MP in beta 2 iirc).
Also in Beta 3, EX bullhead travels further than in Beta 2. These might be the reasons why it doesn’t work.
Try it out once beta 5 drops.

hey something crazy…if someone does his jumping grab move you can litterally just grab them when the land next to you before he actually grabs you
Yea, Birdie lands first and then waits a couple of frames before doing the grab.
It’s also why you saw Birdie get standing crush countered after the dive at tournaments.
Here’s something I overlooked from beta 3 onward, which Birdie still has in Beta 5.
- Birdie is throw invincible on startup with EX Killing Head (spd).
Which works great IF you are looking to defend against throws. Got good value out of it during beta3.
When did they change the inputs of bullhead? Last time I saw it it was hcf p now it’s just qcf p that’s great.
St mp/st lkx2 x Ex bullhead one hit x vt x cr.hp x bullhorn works mid screen. Just charge the bullhorn during the vt freeze with lk or whatever.
It was pretty early, I think it was in Beta 2
I noticed u disagree with him.
I’m fairly certain it doesn’t work in Beta 2 because of the pushback, I tested it a lot. Bullhorn will whiff unless the opponent is in the corner, It’s got nothing to do with charging bullhorn wrong.
The combo only works in all other versions.
