Command grab is definitely buffed it does so much damage

two things I want from birdie…

  1. on his charge p attack a little faster start up… I’ll take more recovery frames but in its current state it is to slow for a anti air… it is a great read move though and you can combo vtrigger off of it.
  2. anyone feel like the arch on the jump chain grab has changed slightly. I never got punished by a ryu fireball until today on jump in. I know its not the most reliable but for projectile throwers its like free damage once a round if they are smart, if not you can win the match with it.

All and all I was satisfied with him overall. I’m not even that good with stick so I dropped a lot of inputs but I had a 80% win rate off of his buttons alone. That and he eats cammys juice box… she literally cannot do anything against birdie lol.

Seems to be character-specific outside of V-Trigger. Worked on Ryu but not on Laura so far. Didn’t get to test anybody else.

I got it to work on Laura like 2 out of every 10 attempts. It was surprisingly hard for me to do consistently for some reason.

I never tried it on other characters, though.

Did you guys notice the huge nerf on st.hp hitbox?

Why? Doesn’t he have an armor move and a command grab to deal with pressure? (Haven’t tried out Birdie)

How well do you guys think he does against Laura? Only messed around with Nash this morning, so didn’t get to experience it myself.

I personally think Laura can beat him. I had a pretty easy time doing a lot of damage to birdie but I end up losing because I’m still learning how to hit confirm, damn you ssf4.
Birdie can get people off of him. Ex command grab does a lot of damage and that bullhorn well ex one is hard punish.

Exactly…I faced a lot of Birdies that were clearly new players looking for that zangief experience where if you’re even remotely close I’m gonna mash lariat/spd through your strings. Doesn’t work with Birdie.

The armour move (EX horn) has quite a lot of start up so the armour loses to jab jab pressure.

The command grab is okay, but only useful against pressure with EX because of the 4f startup. No invincibility on any version though.

I find s.LK is actually much better for dealing with pressure. So quick at 4 frames and links to s.LP xx L head. Obviously you have to be careful of frame traps but it’s great at interrupting.

I played with few Birdie users but they didnt seem to know what to do with him.

not really, he either even with them or at a disadvantage since his buttons have so much whiff recovery and special moves having long startup

This combo is super weird. The exact same inputs/timing seems to hit sometimes and whiff other times. It also works pretty much every time in the corner.

I recorded a quick video to show what I mean. Starting at 00:07, you can see the same recording connect the combo twice, then whiff it twice.

Anybody got any explanation? Maybe there’s different reel animations randomly or something?

Working it on necalli and it’s really inconsistent. Not really sure what’s going on.

So they took out the full armor, eh? I’m not terribly surprised because in Beta 2 it was a little YOLO with that even though it was unsafe as fuck on block.

Another stealth nerf: now after landing EX Chain, the opponent is sent far away from you. In Beta 2, if you did EX Chain they would land right next to you. Now comboing into EX Chain is basically worthless…

Birdie’s Command Grab beats Gief’s Grab Super clean. Discuss.
