Birdie General Thread: The Banana Bogey Brawler

I think you fellows that are crying out on damage are forgetting that by the time Birdie acquires enough meter for V-Trigger and a Super meter, the opponent is most likely about to die from depleted health anyway, unless they’re stupid enough to let him acquire V-Trigger quickly, and a fully stocked meter in the third round.

The damage is the only thing birdie has. He needs it. Give him dat damage!!

What’s spectacular is how long the loading screen lasts - wtf!

Haha… Ken…

No one is playing birdie on any of these streams/videos (birdman hand rub) first day main confirmed. (That is, if the cast was finished today of course)

I think he has a bit of the Rufus factor going on and that may lead to him being slightly less popular. I’m looking forward to trying him out though.

Guys, do you think we can get this instead of his other theme?

I genuinely think Birdie might be the strongest of the first 6 characters, at least in the beta build.

Godlike buttons, ridiculous damage, grimy setups with can and banana and a hundred ways he doesn’t give a shit about fireballs.

only one new comment for a whole days worth of beta play… I’m disappointed. Can’t wait till the next wave of stress test rolls out in the US, I still haven’t played Birdie.

If theres anythng anyone wants to know, I played him for hours yesterday, he’s excellent.

What did you find yourself doing with your meter most matches? Was you CA crucial to your win or was buffed specials more important? Also were you able to build v meter say before half health with eating?

Any particular combos that seemed to be your go to?

Depending on the matchup, if possible I was conserving it for Critical art, or EX moves while in v-trigger. EX headbutt and EX Bull Horn are both amazing and as far as I could tell safe on block, they just destroy fireballs from about 2/3rds of a screen. His EX command throw is really fast as well.

If the opponent is zoning, you have plenty of time to build meter with v-skills. The Banana and can are fantasic on their own for setting up pressure and traps.

go-to combos are:

cr.lp, cr.lp, st.lp x lp/EX headbutt
st.mp x mp/EX headbutt
CH st.HK linked into mp headbutt

Really all you need to know for combos, you can link them all into critical arts, and the third one will do 75% of a health bar in v-trigger mode.

cr.lk (meaty), st.lp xx lp headbutt was the only combo off of a low I could find, I tried to link after a meaty cr.mk but couldn’t get it to work.

st.mp, st.lp xx lp headbutt actually does more damage than st.mp xx mp headbutt, but it requires closer spacing, an added link, and only does 5 more damage lol. However st.mp makes for a good meaty, because it’s already + on block, and can be hit confirmed into the st.lp xx lp headbutt instead of directly canceling it into the unsafe mp headbutt.

In VT, you can link HP Headbutt after CH St.HK instead of MP for more damage. f.HP also causes CC and is decent since it has some armor, and links into the same things as CH St.HK. St.HP is a great normal for crushing lows and beating out jumps if you have the read like day after conditioning them with command grab, and it can work as a traditional aa at certain ranges, just be careful because it’s a pretty slow normal all around. F.HK overhead can be used as a surprise move when they expect you to go for low or throw, and that’s when the fun really starts, because then you can go for f.HP and St.HK CH setups since they will be more likely to press buttons at this point. Empty jump is a good tool, because he has the damage to make whiff punishes a very scary thing for your opponent to deal with.

There’s also some crazy tech I found
YOU CAN COMBO BOOGER INTO SUPER ON CH!!!

i played a little today played like garbage im not sure if it was lag or me just bieng awful…but something i noticed is you can do two standing lk’s to lp to head butt its a little easier off a cross up.

woah woah woah

Classic Target Combo now knocks down for some reason in the gamescom build

Not sure what to make of it

He has a target combo?

Only thing that might be considered a target combo is his c.hp 2-hit thing, it’s basically c.hp > s.hp

Oh yeah I knew about that, but didn’t it always knockdown or am I remembering that wrong?

aw shiyut, i meant to post it in Ken’s thread

I was drunk last night :stuck_out_tongue:
