I liked the series okay. I thought Marvel did almost nothing to push it and crippled it with a 3.99 price tag.
Claremont’s story was pretty weak overall. Way too many word balloons and Claremont-isms. (i.e. brainwashing, random sports games etc)
He was imitating it.
Since it was a Japanese team, he felt anime style was a better fit.
Around issue 4 he finally got his stride and it came more naturally to him.
Usually Naka is traditional superhero style.
