Pretty neat combos for no boost.
i like both the vids, ikusat’s seem like very good bnbs for the characters, i’d love to see a transcript
d’nyc, sick vid, along with agito i’ve been trying to pick up burai and ren, nice to see some very good situational high damage stuff
Want a review? I’ll be glad to give C&C. Please keep in mind that this is friendly C&C – I liked your video to some degree, and I’m not trying to hate. But, you asked, so here’s what I have to say:
A good effort, your video is a lot better than 99% of the other BBB combo vids on youtube at the moment. Your video and Ikusat’s video are the only ones that don’t suck right now. Your overall style and tone is good, it had a nice flow to it. I feel that if you worked on this some more you’d probably turn out with a really awesome video.
However, the intro was painfully long and had NO game-content up until 0:49. It’s ok to give credit when credit is due, but you could also be putting actual content in with the credits so that the screen isn’t just static text. You know, give the audience something to look at instead of making them wait through almost a full minute of text. Use split screens or subtitles or other methods like bubbles so that the credits don’t “waste time”. The credits can’t be eating time if they are running at the same time as the content.
The combos appear to be incremental; you start with a basics and then start adding variations and expand the combo with more difficult stuff, which is actually redundant. Basically, you could just skip to the final product (the best version of the combo) and skip all the unnecessary repetition of “the basics”. It felt like there were four or five actually solid combos in there, and the rest were just variations or extensions of those solid combos.
You always end the combo the same way, always a super. Again, it’s kind of redundant. It’s really good that you don’t skip the end of the combo, because cutting the beginning or end of a combo is really bad. But, you should try and avoid repetitive combo enders like that, somehow. I personally would recommend using a split-screen so that a new combo could start on one side of the screen while the super is finishing on the other side of the screen. That way the audience could look at the super finisher if they want, or they could look at the start of the new combo instead of watching the super finisher.
You taunt. You really really need to not do that. It’s absolutely redundant and slows down the video (eats away time). Ikusat used one taunt in his video because it was actually a safe setup for her healing taunt. However, that was practical and served a purpose. Again, I recommend a split-screen with video editing so that there’s actual content rolling while the taunt is going (like my credits and finisher suggestion).
The character artwork (cut-scenes) in between the combos was good. It allowed you to introduce the character to the audience. You kept them short which was great, definitely keep those short. And you also did it after the first combo, which is also really great (good placement). But I have a recommendation for you:
Personally I would highly recommend trying to find artwork that isn’t seen in-game or possibly even fan-art. This is because if it’s seen in-game then everyone who plays this is going to be familiar with it, and thus TIRED of seeing it because they see it all the time. Especially because every other video out there right now also uses the same art, so even people who don’t play it and are just casual fans will be sick of looking at the same damn character portraits seen in every other video out there. Throwing in artwork or something new that no one’s seen before (or rarely seen) will be really refreshing for the audience. That’s kind of what a combo video is all about anyway right? Presenting stuff no one has seen before.
Lens flare: Sorry but this is a no-no. It’s a painfully common filter effect that is seen in a lot of PhotoShop images and combo videos. People are really sick of seeing it, and honestly it doesn’t even look that cool. Try another filter or just don’t use a generic filter-effect at all.
Seriously, I know it’s very difficult to vary combos and make things innovative and unique in BBB. But if you take one thing away from my C&C; try and avoid repetition as much as possible. Even if what you add in is impractical or wasteful or even silly then it’s going to be a whole lot cooler and entertaining if it’s something fresh and not repetitive. You goal shouldn’t always be for optimal damage outcome. If you watch Ikusat’s video you’ll see he brought a lot of new stuff to the table that no one has seen before, and it wasn’t necessarily practical or ideal, it was just really cool and not repetitive or boring. This is the type of thing you want to be aiming for.
And I have to emphasize your video has a good foundation. But it could go from “good” to “great” or even “amazingly awesome” if you put some more work into it.
Thanks, it’s always good to hear that.
Believe me I’ve made videos long before. I mean check this out:

^ Hehe, cool video.
I just realized my previous post was huge and no one will read it. Here I’ll make it small for the ADD crowd:

(you can read more detailed explanations in my previous post).
Does this not work for Windows Vista? There’s some text off to the side of the download that’s red that says “Windows Vista” and I can’t run it. =/
EDIT: I renamed the folder (twice, because the first time I just deleted the japanese text not realizing the “B B B” was a japanese character too) and it worked.
We took some replays yesterday. Sadly, anything good we took desynced and this is all we’re left with. Especially missing is some twins gameplay. (Who by the way are filled with retarded and bullshit.)

No need to comment on my Senna. Besides missing combos in general, my Senna is pretty crap at this point. Haha. ACM just started playing and he seems to have picked up pretty fast.
Does anyone know if you can keep a combo going after Ren’s second dp throw? I can’t seem to keep a combo going, even if I burst.
is there tiers?
Not yet. Though, I think it can be safely said that the Twins are top tier.
i disagree :(.
You just don’t want to be seen as a top tier whore.
Pretty much.
can u honestly tell me that other chars dont have way better tools
than them. not to mention that their dmg output is pretty damn low
compared to the rest of the cast. they are hardly top tier, far from
it actually.
I’m still maining Big Rotary, and finding that he is an absolute beast if he gets you in the corner. Midfield options are a bit sketchier.
Well, it’s because everything they do is completely safe. Those damned arrows allow you to pull things off that you shouldn’t have any business pulling off. If arrow-lady could be attacked, then, yeah, the twins wouldn’t be top tier.
i dont even think they are top tier now. arrows take a shitload of
meter for one, they can be smacked down and they do like no
damage. if kyudo could be hit THEN they would be top tier. this
is cuz u can control her movements so u would be able to use her
a shield with proper positioning which would be stupid cuz then she
would have basically an invicible rushdown that doesnt cost meter.
twins’ shit just doesnt stack up to the rest of the cast im sorry.
burai gets like 6k with no meter
daigo gets instant overheads
rouga has that bs loop
kunagi has those crossups and her mixup ablility is just too good
heita can basically fuking kill u as soon as he touches you
sanzou has those crossups and takes forever to fuking die
ren has a 4k tick throw
agito has amazing run away and that uber super and that damn circle
twins are far from top tier
You speak the truth I was always wondering why people though the twins were top. They are annoying but not that dangerous.
super heita
devil/heita/kunagi
buria
twins
ever1 wlse.
Their pokes don’t seem to be all that reliable either. I normally lose poking wars when I’m trying to use A attacks. :\
