try changing non-unicode programs to japanese?

found the solution thanks to henaki in irc. just name the folder to “england” and it works

Actually, you can rename the folder anything you want, as long as its in english.

why is this thread voted one???

So I saw the previews and a few of the combos (And the sweet ass looking characters) and decided I need to DL this game. I have a few questions first.

1.)Do I need to Download just V1.01 or wil I need 1.00 as well?

2.)What is the difference between the (Japanese) links and the (Other user) links? I assumed “Other User” was for those outside of Japan, but the download is going really slow and I am wondering if I need to put up with that.

If those questions have alread been asked and answered I appologize. I haven’t read through all the pages of this thread, just the first few and the last few.

Thank u.

My only worry with BBB right now is that things seem SO over-simplified it could be damaging. I mean, I enjoy the game a lot, but the boost button kind of turns every opportunity into the same thing. Once you connect with ANYTHING and hit the boost button, you’re essentially in a neutral situation where you can combo almost exactly the same way every time. I don’t know how the developers could address something like that, or if they’re even interested in it. The boost button is “core” to the gameplay and definitely not something you could get rid of and still have a game left. I’m hoping once the full version gets out there and people start competing a little bit, more strategy will open up.

There’s a LOT of potential here. I just don’t want to see it get lost in a sea of people spamming A>B>C at each other until something hits. It seems like a lot of the strategy is going to come down to when you sneak in power-ups and the overall conservation of your various meters. At the very least, this game seems to be a good way of getting my friends into 2D fighting games, because the execution is easy enough that they CAN learn some of this stuff and enjoy the game. It’s hell getting my friends to try to play MB or GG because there’s so much of an up-front learning curve before you can even nail B&B’s.

On a side note: does anybody else feel like there’s something wonky with IAD? I swear it doesn’t come out nearly as consistently as I think it should with my execution. Does anybody know the actual command it’s looking for? It doesn’t seem to be 956 like I thought it would be.

EDIT!!: I just thought of something that would make the game better (to me). If the “escape boost” only took 2 meters instead of 4. It would add a lot of strategy into the combos. You’d have to be a little more careful with your use of meter and it would make the game slightly more defensive, instead of the combo exhibition it might become. ESPECIALLY considering you can use the escape “offensively” and appear behind your opponent using it. At 4 meters, it seems like it’s going to be a woefully under-utilized weapon on this game, because you can do a LOOOT of damage with 4 meters. Maybe the escape backward should be 2 meters, and the escape forward (behind them) should take 4?

EDIT2: Definitely keep the “forward escape” where you move behind them to 4 meters. I just played with that a bit more. The back escape could easily be 2 without ruining too much. You’re still wasting much more meter than the person who’s pumping damage into you if you have to escape often.

i absolutely cannot stress just HOW BADLY i want to play Agito in this game

i feel teh same except swap agito for teh twins

cause i saw it was 3 and then i was like welp might as well vote it 1 cause thatd be even weirder!

do people even pay attention to ratings unless its like a really shitty thread

Air dashing takes .2 meter, you know, maybe it’s not coming out because you don’t have enough stock?

Yeah, i was aware of the meter requirement. I’m just not consistent with it. I always get it in GG, so it just must be looking for a slightly different command than i isually use. =P

Air dashing was a pain in the ass for me, I just kind of hit 9+6 -> 6 really fast, or 96 96 works sometimes too. I can’t really explain it, it’s just something you do naturally after a while without thinking about it.

On the topic of meter management, I was thinking about what the most efficient meter usage was in this game, including both P and B meters. I don’t think enough of the game has been released to figure this out, but pretty much so far what I’ve been doing is trying to find the most efficient way to deal damage using only two stocks. So far I’ve gotten one combo that I like, but it eats up P meter.

Ryouga vs Ryouga or Senna (I specify because I cannot for the life of me do IAD combos on Senna, so I assume gravity/falling hitboxes will differ greatly on characters)

5ABC xx 214C xx 41236C xx 214D -> 5ABC xx 214C xx 41236C xx 214D -> 5ABC 623C -> 2A 5BC 623C

This does about 6000+ damage for two stocks. Eats up pretty much your whole P bar though, so you can’t just do this out of nowhere unless you have that filled up. If I remember properly you can D cancel the last 623C and hit them more, but at that point you’re only going to get at most maybe 1000 extra damage. With this game you can do crazy extended combos, but I don’t see the point because you can build up your opponents B meter doing so and you don’t use your meter efficiently. Now if 1000 damage is going to kill them, then yeah I’d go for it.

Like someone said before, this game is going to come down to meter management. I think the characters who can do the most damage using the least meter will be the best characters.

there is half life combo for zanma (on senna) that uses 1 stock and recover even more than what you use

Wow what the holy fuck, you could D cancel that for more insanity too at the end there.

Jesus.

so like, that combo is corner only?

I hope NRF is seeing this and going “shit, we really need to do something, here”.

Whats the IRC channel?

#bbb irc.mizuumi.net

Nahhhhh. I hope they aren’t. There isn’t really a good way to setup that combo outside of the corner without burning an extra stock, to put them in the corner and even then it gets kinda weird.

It’s werid that some of Senna’s moves aren’t airblockable but all of ryouga’s are (well sans the powerdunk).
