I put a Marvel Vs Capcom 2 arcade machine at some liquor store and when I set it to coin operated, it always has 24 credits installed. Even when I use up all the credits and turn it off and turn it on, it always has 24 credits installed. That’s a big problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Having 24 free credits installed every time the machine is turned on is not good.
Sounds like it may be a problem with the coin mech and/or service credit buttons? Could you possibly try disconnecting those both, and then turning the cabinet on? Also, make sure the wires don’t touch after you disconnect them. If they do, the board will just think service credit was pushed/coin was inserted.
Oh, yes. I forgotten about the options menu. Heh. Too straightforward. Whenever I fix Naomi, it’s almost always hardware. Like voltage is causing PCB to overheat, or things are freaking out on PCB, etc. Could be an option. 24 is just insanely high for an options menu, I think, though. Or maybe you have a little leprechaun inside that like to push the service credit button.
Yeah. It makes sense, though. Consistently being 24. But with all these electronic coin mechs, I wouldn’t be surprised if that thing just happened to go through 24 odd cycles when powering on.
Its bad ram and needs a replacement also check all the traces 1 may be bad and could also bring up the error… but most likely its just replacing the ram chip that will do it! i belive its rom 13 on the board.
im tryin to find that out for ya right now. also check your cap. make sure it doesnt have a leak cause it will eat away at the traces! causing even more problems!
So anyone know what it means when the IC29 is bad? Does this have to do with the game (MVC2) always being maxed out on 24 credits every time I boot it up?
I would definitly go into the options menu of the game and see what its set at.
CPS2 Arcade games had similar option menu settings, where one could specify how many coins for 1 credit, freeplay, etc. Highly doubt this is something physical or else it would be screwing up in some other way, this obviously seems like an internal setting issue.
Don’t have a lot of experience but i know MVC2 menu has a lot of interesting options, such as being able to control how much damage is given. One time at my local arcade one of the blundering maintenance guys, accidentally messed with a menu setting when trying to find something else, and screwed up the damage. In this particular situation it was set to MAXIMUM. Sentinel, having the highest stamina in the game, was reduced to sabretooth levels, and poor characters like Spider-man(who already has low stamina by default) were nearly dead after one average air combo lol.
Not all machines are the same, but i remember the switch(dip switch?) at my local arcade’s MVC2, was inside behind the coin slots.
Check the board and IC29 to see if there’s any sort of damage. Sometimes, I’ve been amazed at the crap some of these have gone through when I look at them. One board I saw had a bad trace! Was wacky. But, just soldered a wire over it, and everything was okay. And sometimes just some dirt has been in them. I don’t know how it gets there. It’s like the hair that gets in the feet of TEs that Gummowned says he’s seen.
