Better call Saul! premiere Feb 8

This. I love how the show rewards the viewer with little things like these. Even in his bewilderment over Chuck’s betrayal he still tries to emulate what his big bro taught him until the he broke into a rage.

I’m not even a film geek, but I never can shake the feeling of awe at just how brilliant the cinematography is. The panning scene of the interior of Los Pollos Hermanos before zooming on Jimmy, the heat distortion over the horizon line where Mike was parked, making him look like some spectre floating above the road. If I was in film school I’d be so inspired by these scenes.

Chuck is such a diabolical bastard, I’ve seen some pedants in my life, but Chuck is willing to sell his own brother down the river just for the sake of legal ethics. Making Jimmy out to be Jack the Ripper or some shit. It’s funny how professional (and seeming a little slimmer) Jimmy’s secretary Francesca is in their initial meeting, I wonder what makes her stay during his transition into Saul, and endure his sexual harassment? She must not be telling everything about how she left the MVD DMV.

It’s kind of cool that Victor was shown to be working for Gus for a while now, this makes Mike’s horrified reaction to when Fring calmly slits his throat in front of Walt and Jesse even more impactful. Such callousness for a longtime employee is what caused Mike to waver later on. Mike may have taken over the operation, but it was clearly due to his competency and not seniority.

I always got the impression there was more to victor and gale than just him being upset… there were some undertones there, like possibly the two were down low lovers or something. I dont know how else Victor was dumb enough to get himself seen at the scene of the murder, he was too professional for that. Parallels Gus in a way, except Gus kept his calm and enacted a much longer revenge plot. But yeah, knowing Victor was a very longtime henchman makes his murder way more impactful, I hadn’t even considered that yet

Still betting that Gus is gay. I hope they never actually reveal it. Much better just to assume his character than to have everything spelled out.

yeah, i also think he’s gay, just like

I didn’t see that coke sprinkling coming. It was pretty damn cute.

Chuck being predictable Chuck, or we can chalk it up to consistency. He’s still just aiming to take Jimmy’s law license away. Saw this coming soon after he didn’t immediately bring that tape to the police. It’s good either way since Jimmy’s storyline is losing interest for me and Mike’s is becoming much more appealing.

I feel like if or when (probably when, since Saul is still legally a lawyer in Breaking Bad) Jimmy wins his case, that’s it for Chuck; he’s probably just going to completely lose his shit and that’ll be the end of him. I don’t think he’ll die per say, but he’ll probably have a breakdown and end up in a loony bin. I’m half expecting the case to cause Kim way too much stress and cause them to split as partners, as she has way too much on her plate already.

Saul will likely end up winning, but by being Dirty, causing his brother to lose it on the stand. He will agree to commit his brother, sell his brothers shares to Hamlin, and in exchange agree not to use the McGill name anymore in law.

But then again, if theres one thing Breaking Bad is good at, its making sure your guesses are always wrong lol

I wonder how many years after the end of the episode was the opening scene.

those shoes most likely fell around the Cinnabon Manager Jimmy era

Doubt that. Pollos Hermanos was still around. The bullet holes in the stop sign leads me to believe there’s a gun fight there and that Gus won.

I also just realized that Francesca is Saul Goodman’s secretary in Breaking Bad.

Wild.

Mike’s a frickin’ genius, but I wonder how long he can do this without getting the Salamancas to start really investigating these strange occurrences.

I can’t wait to see how Saul resolves this, although we already know there will be dire consequences that will affect those around him.

BTW, did anyone else notice Ernie’s elbows were ashy as hell. Cocoa Butter Ernie!

Yeah it’s great to see her back. It’ll be interesting to see how she is influenced by Jimmy to become a slime ball as well. Haha

I was just rewatching season 1… and you guys probably missed it, but Tuco was the guy who threatened saul and the skateboarding dudes with a gun in the desert!

Fuck you. How you gonna compare a secretary to Tuco?!

Francesca was in 9 episodes, Tuco was in 4. He was more central to the plot though, but she was in it quite a bit

What’s her biggest scene? Telling Jesse to wait in the lobby?

Quite memorable.

Arguing with Walt over breaking the door, and fleecing him for like 25k?

Calling hank to tell him Marie was in the hospital?

That’s not really memorable to me. At most she’s a middleman.

To be honest I didn’t recognize her at first either. I only did when I went and looked at Reddit where someone pointed it out.
