Better call Saul! premiere Feb 8

I honestly don’t think Chuck is out to get Jimmy like some people are saying. It’s obvious that he has some sort of issue with Jimmy being so likeable, but I think he does actually care for his brother like he said he did last episode. The problem is that Chuck knows Jimmy better than anyone at HHM and even the audience. I can kind of see Chuck’s point of view because dealing with the problematic black sheep of the family is tiring, and when people are that old, they don’t change. Chuck’s one big fuckup was when he finally told Jimmy “you’re not a real lawyer”. At that point, Jimmy was legitimately trying to turn his life around, but Chuck fucked that up. However, can we really blame Chuck after dealing like 30 years of “Slippin’ Jimmy”?

Yeah we can still blame him. Jimmy passed the bar and everything. He should’ve been proud of his brother instead of an asshole.

Jimmy did all that because he yearned for Chuck’s approval and got spat on. Chuck strikes me as the kind of guy who loves his brother but doesn’t want to see him succeed.

I get the impression that Chuck is really frustrated that despite Jimmy’s constant fuck ups, he still manages to be relatively successful. That Jimmy can get by on being funny and charming, while Chuck is a more rigid and by-the-books kind of person. We’ve all known people who are super goody two shoes who will try to rat out someone like Jimmy, even if they aren’t necessarily doing anything to them personally. It’s like this psychological need to feel righteous by stomping on someone who isn’t “following the rules.”

Here’s the thing though, Jimmy, for a very brief moment, decided to “be bad” and go back to his old ways after his first fight with Chuck in season one. It didn’t last for very long, and he decided to take the job at Davis & Maine. Jimmy has been fucking up quite a lot lately, and no matter how you slice it, has been breaking the law, or “working the system” in Jimmy’s eyes. Even Kim wants to know if Jimmy can go one day without breaking the rules of the New Mexico Bar Association. As we found out from last night’s episode, even giving the court office clerk a Beanie Baby is considered bribery, which he has been doing all this time (even before he fell out with Chuck). Even though it may seem insignificant, say he was doing this while working with HHM and he got caught. Something like that could really hurt HHM’s reputation, on top of Jimmy getting fired/possibly convicted. No matter how you really slice it, Chuck is right about Jimmy: people don’t change. It would have been only a matter of time before Jimmy would have been caught breaking the rules, whether or not Chuck approved of Jimmy’s Bar Exam pass.

That Hector sit down. Obviously Mike is straight up gonna tell him to suck deez nuts causing him to take a stroke, then Jimmy will appear post jumping on grenade for Kym to start the new operation.

these episodes are sooooo gooooooooood !

Chuck is, IMO, relatable. He’s an asshole, sure, but I can relate with WHY he is that way. But to think his point of view is infallible is silly, it’s not really. I don’t really believe Jimmy stole 14k from his dad just like that. But I think there is a legit reason Chuck believes that; like he probably never confronted Jimmy about it. Maybe their dad was into some shady shit, maybe it was protection money, I have to believe there was some legit reason for that money being missing. I think it would be an interesting twist if that money was used to do something that helped Chuck out directly, like paying for his college or something similar. I dunno.

At least we know the source for him fostering all this hate for Jimmy. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

As for Mike and Tuco, we know Tuco gets out of jail early, so we know eventually Mike complies. My guess is he agrees to do it, if hes given some “work,” and thats how he gets involved with gus.

lol @ Mike causing old man Salamanca to have a stroke.

Dude still has juice and Mike knows it. Moreover, he was able to find Mike with little actual effort and know a lot of details about him. That’s why he had to swallow that shit sandwich mighty hard when old man Salamanca left.

Chuck’s mental illness doesn’t make sense though. People that are well educated and have the ability to build a strong performing legal firm from scratch would handle mental illness differently. They suffer, of course, but seeing someone with that sort of business and education pedigree break down irrationally to the point they cover themselves with tinfoil is far fetched I think.

Now If he was manic depressed or paranoid - causing him to hide at home without electronics, that would more sense imo.

Also in terms of storyline, how much more could they develop it? Unless some really crazy shit happens the whole tinfoil act is pretty dead end. Edit: but I would love to be proven wrong of course

Everything about Chuck pisses me off, hes just some petty fat slob who cant be happy for his brother. We all know Jimmy tapped his wife, her eyes lit up like a 5yo looking at a christmas present during dinner. Ole dusty motherfucker in the fetal position 90% crying under the table.

Need more Mike, hell even Jimmy’s shit gets old but Chuck? Huh?

Jimmy having sex with Chuck’s wife would be a pretty shallow and predictable way for her to leave Chuck. I’m sure they won’t go that route. Besides, at that point in the timeline he probably already has eyes on Kim.

Spirit juice coming in my mouth with common sense.

I dont think that means what you think it means bruh…

Part of me kind of feels bad for Howard, because all he’s trying to do is run his firm, yet he’s constantly caught in the crossfire between Jimmy and Chuck, and Kim ends up as the collateral damage. Yeah, he is an ass at times, but he’s probably getting frustrated by being put in the position to be the bad guy because Chuck is too much of a cuck to be accountable.

Jimmy confirmed to have been stealing from his old man’s convenience store. Chuck not so filled with bullshit after all.

Stealing eight dollars isn’t exactly the same thing as stealing fourteen thousand. As we’ve seen, Jimmy and Chuck’s dad is extremely naive, and a pushover.

It could been the dad scammed outta 14k, but admittedly that scene looks bad for Jimmy.

Not sure if we’ll be given more information regarding Jimmy and his pop’s store, but it’s fairly obvious that Jimmy decided that if his dad was going to be so foolish, he was going to take advantage of his dad. Just because he only stole eight dollars doesn’t mean it didn’t gradually turn into more over the years, although his dad getting scammed out of 14k could be a possibility too.

So right now it seems like Jimmy is going to take Kim’s offer and do a Wexler & McGill practice? Seems like a good compromise, and if he does decide to do it, I wonder how long it will last. Things appear to be looking up for Jimmy and Kim, so I’m wondering what causes their relationship to come crashing down.

I lost almost all interest in Jimmy’s storyline. I’m way more invested in seeing what happens between the Salamancas and Mike.

If someone would have asked me about Jimmy’s storyline last week, then I’d agree with you 100%. But I get the impression that they’re actually ready to start moving his shit forward. Although I’ll agree that Mike’s story is, overall, far more interesting.
