Best way to get a RJ-45 jack in a TE stick? (I don't have tools)

I won one of the Marvel vs Capcom 3 tournaments and won a stick from them. (Which was really nice because I planned on buying one).

However I have a couple of questions/problems.

[]The bottom right screw hole is stripped (not the actual screw). It’s as if the hole is too big or the ridges are not there. Is there anything I can do to fix that? I don’t really want to return it because it works fine. (Not sure if I could even do that since I didn’t buy even it) Resolved, thanks!

]Would it be worth it to change to button layout to a regular TE layout? It’s not hard since I can just change the QD’s around, but still a hassle to do. Resolved, changing the layout!
[*]Is this worth it to mod it with a McCthulhu board? I think it’d be nice to have Wii support for TvC but I don’t know if it’s going to be worth the effort. I’ve ChImped my other TE before so I know the basics but I don’t think I can do any of the McCthulhu mods. Also as a side note, I have tools sufficient enough to handle a ChImp and multiple chable MC mod, but not for a RJ-45 MC mod. Which leads me to this question. What would be necessary for an RJ-45 jack mod to happen.

  1. I don’t think so but I’m not a tech expert as far as those things go.
  2. I wouldn’t bother, you can rebind the buttons in each game more easily than you can opening up the entire stick. Also, aren’t they labeled on the stick anyways which would kind of screw that plan up?
  3. Do you need to dual mod? That’s really the only question that needs to be asked here.
  1. A major problem with the TE’s is that the nut that holds down the face screws are poorly glued on, yours fell off. Either find it if its inside the case or get a matching one and super glue it back in there.

  2. While the case is open, go ahead and switch the wires if you want, or keep it because you can of course rebind in game.

  3. What ever you want, if you don’t have a dedicated Wii stick, go ahead.

  1. If it’s anything like my MvC TE the bottom right isn’t stripped. The nut that the bolt screws into is usually held in place with that red glue. There was none on mine so I couldn’t tighten the bolt or the nut would just clatter loosely in the case. I disassembled the stick and spread some hot glue with a toothpick around the edges of the nut.

  2. Totally your call. I preferred to leave the layout so it matched the labels on the art. until I swapped out the art.

  3. Totally worth it, and you can take care of 1 and 2 while doing it.

Thanks for pointing out the problem with the nut. I can’t really do anything about it to fix it yet (as I don’t have hot glue and tape doesn’t work) but I know what the problem is now.

As for the modding, would a McCthulhu mod be worth making the cables among a make a hole for a potential jack? I think ChImping it is pretty much all that’s necessary for the current games to play anyways, right? I don’t own a PS2 or TvC yet. If I go through with a MC mod, I’ll pretty much just get TvC, but I need to know if it’s worth the effort in making the mod happen.

  1. In my opinion, yes, it’s worth it. Switch the four farthest around for RB is fierce, RT is roundhouse, LB is the fourth punch, LT is the fourth kick. The current mvc stick layout is the default for HDR and the new MvC2, while the layout I describe is the default for pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE, including PS2 type games and SF4/SSF4. Mvc2 and HDR have the best and easiest setup for reassigning buttons, so switching it around makes you default for most everything, except the two games with the easiest button config. Easiest way all around.
  2. That’s entirely a judgement call. You have an idea of the work involved; doing an MC+Imp is just a little more wiring than a Chimp. Not harder, just a little more work. Doing an RJ-45 mod as well is a hair more work, but makes all of those MC supported systems available with detachable cords. If the work involved is worth having all of those systems available in a single stick, then go for it.

It’s not hard to switch it to layout B during your button check but, I’d still recommend switching the disconnects to the default SF4 TE layout.

It seems like it’d be a pain and I don’t have the tools for the job. I guess it’s more of me thinking ideally. I may just end up ChImping it since I’m likely never going to play TvC.
