Alright, now I know this has been bought up before, but I’m not looking for which special does the most damage or what not. I’m looking for which special is the overall best in the game. Like for eample Storm’s hailstorm is very abusable, Cable’s AHVB is crazy to punish and does insane damage, Shuma Gorath’s chaos demension is unblockable, etc. You guys get the point.
Why?
why ask why?
this could go multiple ways. Best what? best damage, best combo potential, best chip etc, best solo super, best super with an assist? " best " is to broad of question. You should try to ask it differently.
but to try to answer your question. I would say striders orbs. It has the best bang for its buck.
- orbs goes through quite a few things. Beats top tiers supers clean except cable ahvb but strider can stop that.
- has 100% assist kill on most characters with one meter that cannot be stoppped. who else has that?
- 70% solo by himself on assist with one meter that cannot be stopped
- the orbs are just too good. Mixup, trap, repeat. If it hits, your fucked because it goes to a combo then to a trap pattern and it just repeats after that. sents hsf does the same but its not quite as good as striders.
- very had to stop strider once he has them. You basically have to run away from him till its over.
- in most cases, the only time you should be hit out of orbs is when you don’t set yourself up right. Its usually free unless you fuck it up some how. Its easy to stop hails and hsf if you position yourself right.
ahvb and hail are also good but I think striders orbs do more life because of the combo options you have after it hits. Meter for meter. Thats something that ahvb and hail dont have.
Also, ahvb\hsf\hail are much easier to do but is easier necessarily better?
hsf also has combo potential but you can GC that in most cases if you block it. Its way harder to try GC strider when he has orbs. If you block orbs, strider can mix up during it and put you into a combo that leads into another trap pattern.
strider has the best super meter for meter IMO. He just has too many options once he has them and his damage output is pretty good when you do the right combos.
i say
AHVB
Hail Storm
Lighting Storm
HSF
Magnetic Tempest
Striders orbs
Cyclops KK Super
and my favorite would be Captian America’s Big shield super cause it eats all projectiles, i could imagine someone doing that super to go through something then dhc into something like Proton Cannon.
Well, my main topic was probibly refering to solo. If that’s the case, then I guess Orbs wins hands down. But yeah, lets bring up other scenarios. IM’s proton is second the best DHC super to storm.
I think Strider’s orbs are the single most abusable special in the game. I would say hailstorm, but Strider relies on his special even more. He controls the match with it. changes the entire pace of the match once activated, rings can go through things and can be thrown while blocking. Ouroboros Is too good of a special move.
Colossus’ super armor would be pretty beastly if he actually had mobility.
Just want to know what people think, because this is , suprisingly, a pretty complicated and awkward thing to talk about.
well proton cannon is unblockable as a dhc out. The beam is still there after IM leaves and it hits for free. The game just forgets about it I guess. Saw it on a magnetro video.
dhalsims flip super leads to unblockables. I think magnetro called it frame killing. Ruby heart may have the same thing.
The most balanced super is probably cyclops KK super. It can be used in comboes, DHCS, for chip, and even after a DP. It’s probably the most versatile out of all the supers in the game, especially since you control the trajectory. Sure hail does more DHC damage, but is it as damaging in a standalone combo? Sure AHVB links to more damage and is very powerful when you are on point, but you can’t DHC into it and can’t DHC out of it into a good worthwhile combo all the time. The only super that comes close to the versatility (that word is key here) of the Super Optic Blast is Sentinel’s HSF. However EVEN then HSF is avoidable if you are in the super jump screen, SOB isn’t. As far as versatility goes I’d have to go with cyke’s super, however as far as the strongest super goes there’s only four little letters anyone that plays marvel needs to remember, A - H - V - B.
hmmm
good points there.
damage wise what would you all rate as the best super, not including linking, I mean, on its own, performed one time and it actually connets, waht would you all rate as the best super.
Well, if you’re going to ask what’s the best super solo, without considering any other team aspects, further combos, or whatever, this is about like asking what the best character in the game would be if you didn’t have assists and it was all 1-on-1. It’s a neat hypothetical discussion, but it’s pretty damn pointless because it’s simply not a realistic discussion of the game.
That said… the best non-DHC super is easily the AHVB. Cable’s other tools and his mobility are far and away more limited than the other characters in the higher echelons of the game, and yet the threat of the AHVB, even six years after it was first discovered, is still prevalent enough that it changes entire games. Everyone gets shot.
The best DHC super is, even more no-arguments, Storm/Sentinel. It’s not an accident that those two together pretty much are on all the best teams these days.
Yeah, it may seem pointless game based, but sometimes there are cases where solo specials are needed. In all, this is just a broad thread about supers now anyway : )
Isn’t dan’s super the strongest solo in the game?
I gotta go with cable’s AHVB if your talking about supers on their own. It’s pretty easy to connect after doing hk and if your mash a lot while moving the joystick up and down it does a lot of damage too.
I was also gonna say strider’s orb super but then I thought about it and the super is pretty useless against characters that can airdash, triple or double jump, and fly. I even had trouble hitting sentinle while he was flying when I had orbs activated. Plus orbs doesn’t really do that much damage.
how about, what super connects the most? hail is good for chip, but how often do you connect with it versus connecting the ahvb? you can DHC into it, yeah. but that uses two meters. after that, you’re done (unless you can land and OTG, which i think is situational). with cable, go as long as you have meter. maybe i’d put lightning storm above hail. air combo into it, and you’re also able to DHC afterwards.
i really do like orbs, but it’s really hard for me to prevent runaway, deal enough damage to be worth the effort, and build enough meter when orbs are activated to make chipping signficant. but it’s fun to play.
in the end, i’m just saying the best super is the most practical one.
and about the strongest super in the game, it’s dan’s lvl 3. too bad it does the most damage TO HIMSELF!
Glitched headcrush does more damage than Dan’s super, doesn’t it? Plus let’s not even go into glitched headcrush plus Tron. Don’t EVER leave an assist on the ground alone against that pairing, or it won’t be there when you get back. :wgrin:
Haha, I learned that the hard way durring the low tier tourney at NEC. I’ll check out the damage of the glitched headcrush vs dan’s raging demon shi’t.
hm.
Not 100% but I thought Dan’s Lv3 does more than a glitched headcrush, unless-----
You mash the headcrush. A mashed, glitched headcrush I think is the most powerful super in the game.
On Sentinel, Dan’s LV. 3 does the same as Glitched Juggy Headcrush 4 hits, but your right, mashed Glitched Juggy Headcrush has the most Damage in the Game hands down.
